This is probably the most poorly designed "shopping" center I've seen. It seems to be a giant circle, with the shops on the outside, parking inside. It's incredibly difficult to walk around because you're constantly dodging cars who are looking for parking. If you're at the food court and want to go to say.. Old Navy, you can either walk around the entire perimeter of the place (which is probably almost a mile), or you can cut across the huge parking lot and risk your life dodging giant SUV's. The stores here are standard shopping center stores.. they're nothing like you'd find at an "entertainment" center like Irvine Spectrum or something similar. There's Walmart, Sam's Club, Old Navy, Staples, Barnes and Noble, Michaels, Bath and Body Works, Payless, Justice, Ross... the Edwards movie theater, Chick-fil-a, Lucille's, a food court. I think my favorite part was the kiosk cart selling fake Chanel and Coach purses. I recently met my friend here for lunch. After we were almost run down by a speeding car, we had lunch and tried to shop. The stores absolutely suck. They have the worst merchandise. It's like the corporate offices of these stores know how much LBTC sucks so they don't send them new items. I didn't buy anything which is completely abnormal for me. Went to the Edwards to see Bruno and had some El Torito while we waited. Not a bad experience at all. For once, this place wasn't a complete and total mess. Usually if it's not one thing it's another. The parking is deplorable, there's way too many unmanned children running around and what the hell is up with all the uhm.. non english speaking.. families.. that spread WAY the hell out and refuse to move out of the way when people attempt to break their 'chain' to pass?! *ahem* So yeah, usually I chill elsewhere. The reason why this shopping center gets two stars is: 1) The parking situation is the worst planned thing the city of Long Beach has ever done. The crosswalks are too long to cross, and cars don't yield. Have you seen the size of this parking lot?? It's freakin' huge and can take ten minutes to walk from one end to the other, which may happen during peak hours. There is no structure, so the whole lot can be hot during summer or you'll be drenched from rain walking to and from your car. I've almost gotten into several parking lots accidents because people come around corners at high speeds trying to nab a parking space before I can move. The spaces themselves are small and if you drive a nice car, forget it, you have a good chance of getting dinged during a visit here. That's why I leave the Bimmer at home when I come here. I'm not going to do this place a favor by bringing class to the parking lot. 2) The type of people who go here are not what a serious shopper would like to encounter and kill whatever experience you may want to achieve here. There are too many young people who contribute nothing to society and waste time loitering and getting in my way. On top of that, all I see is PDA from these kids now. Fucking...get a job or buy something! 3) The portfolio of stores and the entire layout of the center are pathetic. The parking lot is situated in the center of the mall and the stores encompass it in a crescent shape. Although the Edwards Cinemas is much larger than Cerritos' two theaters, it's not worth it because you won't enjoy the movie experience. There's too many people and half the time, shows sell out and you'll just have wasted your time and patience waiting in line. Though there are some good restaurants here like Lucille's, but you might as well drive to Cerritos where the same restaurant is done better and with much better planned execution and design. Also, you'll not be surrounded by people who only go out to eat the day after pay day. The only redeeming factors here: There's an In-N-Out, although I'd much rather go to the ones in Cypress or La Mirada. Hell, the one Bellflower (drive-thru only) may be less crowded. There's also a Chick-Fil-A, although, again, you might as well drive the extra couple of blocks to the Los Cerritos Center where there are TWO Chick-Fil-A's in the same mall. Now that's taking a store so nice, they made it twice! The only reason I personally come here though: They have a Barnes & Noble. Really, that's it. I would not come here if there were simply a Barnes & Noble closer to home. read more

Remember when this was an abandoned hospital and eery marsh that made it look like the set of a horror film? Well now it is a completely different genre of horror. I could complain about the legions of wandering tweenage children that seem to populate this place before curfew and awkwardly wait for rides by Starbucks after. Or maybe I could mock the stage that was installed in the main courtyard. Were we expecting Disney child stars to book the Towne Center on their mall lip-sync tours? No no no, terrible local bands will play just to make me cringe on my way to the movie theater. What about the food court? That can't seem to keep a quality restaurant, or at least maintain the quality of the restaurants they have. But that doesn't matter, because we have the Christian Corner of fast food, In N Out and Chik-Fil-A together at last! Too bad the parking is convoluted and forces the drive thru line to block traffic. Um, oh yeah, Wal-Mart. Parking. Sucks. There have been times when I've driven to LB Towne Center with the intention to eat/shop/see a movie, and left because the parking situation is so BAD. Unless you want to visit the outer limits, plan on driving around endlessly for a convenient parking space close to the area you would like to visit. I am not a fan of Walmart, but have occasion to frequent theirs since it is open 24 hours. And what sights to behold when you visit during those late night hours. The Michael Unit bought bait for a fishing trip at 2:00 am and insisted that people were dancing in the parking lot. I wrote him off as being insane until we drove by late one evening and I saw a young kid literally moonwalk in front of our car. As far as the restaurants, they're your standard franchise fare. Meh. My favorite place in the entire center is Helen Grace with their gourmet caramel apples. To die for. I used to buy them and take them into the theater, but the dictator who currently manages the Edwards 26 has proclaimed that no outside food is allowed. It WAS one of the reasons why I chose that particular theater in the past, that you could bring food from one of the outside vendors. I guess Edwards was losing money on their concession stand $10 hot dogs. Zen Buffet. Get their coupon online and save a few bucks. read more

Watching the first Spider-Man movie. Waiting till one in the morning to get my copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Grabbing that pregnancy test for my ex-girlfriend with the shame and guilt only a Catholic upbringing could summon. All of these things happened here at Long Beach Towne Center - at their Edwards 26 and (fake) IMAX; Barnes and Noble; and Wal-Mart respectively. With all these memories, how can I truly knock this down to a two or one-star rating? So yeah, the parking is a total clusterfuck. Yes, it attracts lots of rowdy young people. And yeah, the parking sucks all of the dicks. But nostalgia, folks - nostalgia. And that's why I have to give it three stars. If you've never been and you're not from here, give it a whirl. You'll find better, but you won't go wrong. And if you see some sad-looking, guilt-ridden guy buying a pregnancy test at the Wal-Mart, point at him and laugh because that's not me anymore, bitches. read more

3 stars for the convenience. (proximity to freeway, work, home). CAVEAT: it's Long Beach so plastic shopping bags at the Wal-mart store are NOT FREE. Not a fancy shopping center at all. Really targets the working middle class. Worst ever lay out - as voiced by the many other reviewers. Try to hit the parking that is on the outer reaches for a lesser chance of frustration. Also pay close attention to the off ramp from 605 South freeway - take the 3 right most exit lanes if you want to hit the LB Town Center. The largest demographic are teens, 20's - so basically louder types who move about in packs. Part of their game is "how slow can you cross a crosswalk?" and "how annoying & loud can you get?". Just be patient as they play their game.. Wal-mart here is probably one of the biggest and also the most disorderly ones. It is a 24 hour one so you get all sorts of odd persons here - Wait ! this is where a senior citizen was murdered in the aisles one night! So do be careful! The farthest back area (sort of behind Lowe's & Wal-mart) is a shooting range, so don't be alarmed if you hear the pop-pop-pop of guns. Nothing fancy here folks. Just us working folk getting their Starbucks fix, movie night and some food just a grade above fast food. read more

Barnes & Noble and Petsmart are so ubiquitous that I can go to closer ones. I don't really go here anymore because its so difficult to find parking even though the lot is so huge. I really want to like this place because there are so many shops and restaurants that I like in this mall. They have a decent theatre, an Islands, a Lucille's, an In-N-Out, and my favorite Charro's Peruvian. The problem is the parking. Calling the parking situation a disaster is being kind. Seriously the civil engineer that designed this needs to be fired and barred from ever designing anything. The main entrance to the mall takes you on a road that puts you between parking and the mall itself. So all the people that have just parked are now crossing in front of you to get to the mall, and there are a lot of people! Follow this road around and it eventually goes to one lane just before it exits back on to Carson, where your only option is to turn right into a lane that immediately gets on the 605 South. To make matters worse they close one of the internal roads between Lucille's and Road House Grill for valet parking. This only makes navigating the parking lot even harder. Fortunately I live close enough I can walk to this mall, but there I times I need to drive, and when I do I try not to use the main entrance. There are several stores along the outside of the mall too Lowes, Michaels, WalMart, and Sam's Club. They had a Linen-N-Things, but those are all gone now. If they want to bring something useful in, a BevMo!, Total Wine and More or a Trader Joes would really enhance the place. read more

Everything's here - - and since this place is about 1 mile from my house, I love it. They have a WalMart, Lowes, Ross, Sams, Performance Bike Shop, B&N, car wash, oil change place, threading studio, good food, Starbucks, Michaels, Old Navy, a movie theater, a nail shop, a Fantastic Sams, Sam's Gas, fast food, Bath and Body Works, Payless, Justice, Massage Envy... seriously, you can come in here and spend a day if you wanted to!!! It's easy to come here and spend at least a couple of hours. They also have a sitting area, fountains, and a little play park in the food court center in front of the movie theater. There was a little splash pad for awhile which was AWESOME, but it's been under repair for months. Come by, sit down, waste some time, but feel relaxed, happy, and satisfied (that you got everything done in one stop)!!! read more

Who ever designed the entrances and exits to this place gets an F. I hate coming here, even though they have some decent places to shop at. Parking is available, you just have to go through a maze to get anywhere. Lowes, Sport Chalet, Aaron Brothers, Petsmart stores and In-n-out burger are all here, but I will only come here if I feel like being auto abused and putting my driving record to the test. You can see this place off the 605 freeway, so easy in, easy out. Keep wishing. I really want to love this place but I truly cannot! Entrance to this place can be a nightmare, however it's actually leaving this place that can push any mild mannered individual into a violent rage...uhggg, why? Okay, I do like that they have clothing shops here, like Old Navy, Ross, G-Stage with some sit down restaurants and fast food places. The Barnes & Noble book store is here too, along with PetSmart. Oh and then there's the movie theater. The Walmart is located adjacent to the LBTC. Also worth mentioning, the police academy is next to the Walmart! Around four or so, you can hear the students practicing their guns, outdoors...neat. read more

Worst parking ever. I avoid this place outside of school hours (weekends are unbearable, needless to say). Michaels is the only worthwhile shop here. Walmart???? WTF Long Beach? The movie theater is so-so but the large groups of obnoxious teens keep me away. But back to the parking- getting out of the lot takes 15+ minutes. No one that patronizes this place knows how stop signs work. Planners: whose idea was it to have crowds of pedestrians cross the main access road? I'm sad because my family and I used to come to the food court to grab a bite before going to catch a movie, or vice versa. The past few years the food court has suffered, from shutting down businesses every few months to being almost completely empty of them altogether. I remember how the place used to be jam-packed with people every weekend we'd visit. Now the main focus is Pizza-Rev and Islands, both full-restaurants within walking distance, but not fast-food budget and ends up being to expensive/takes too long to visit before a movie. read more

This place is easy to get to but that parking lot gets crazy. I try to go in the off hours. Lot of options to choose from and especially love the multiplex theater, being a huge movie fan. I used to come here all the time back in high school. It was semi-new back then so it was the fun place to hang out. I used to go see a movie there always every weekend with friends or the girlfriend. But lately it's been a little shady. I went there the other night to go see a movie with my old high school friends. I got carded because i apparently i don't look i'm over 18. So that was lamers and there are a bunch of high school kids that hang out there. Some times annoying, but i guess it's not as bad as the Bella Terra. The movie theater is so expensive i wouldn't never want to see a movie there again. Don't go there to see a movie. Also you need to make sure you have a alarm on your car. My friend's car got broken into a while ago. Not very safe. They have a lot of security there, but i guess not enough. The In & Out there is legit though. If i want In&Out burgers i go there because it's the closest one to me. The drive-through is pretty quick and it's easy to get out of the towne center that way. But getting out of the town center on the east side is ridiculous. It funnels into a one lane yield and people are damn dumbo's because they stop. It says YIELD! NOT STOP. But those are the people who hold up the line. But yeah. No bueno. read more

Nice place to hang out, chill, shop, eat and watch movies. They've made improvements from the first time I've been here. The only problem I would have is it gets really crowded here if you want to watch a movie at the theaters. I mean they've got places you can go to kill time if your showtime for the movie doesn't start for about an hour or so but its a very popular spot for teeny boppers to come watch movies at. They've got fast food, sit down restaurants, bars and a Starbucks of course. So many places to choose from and they also have arcade games and what not. Who doesn't like to play arcade games to kill time. They even have a huge water fountain with different lights. Kind of like a mini Belagio. And on a hot summer day, if u wanna play with the water that shoots up from the ground to cool off for a bit by all means go for it ... no one frowns upon that. read more

Parking sucks! However, once there, everything is close by. Good restaurants on the middle and inner circle (layout is a perimeter circle, a middle circle with restaurants and an interior circle anchored by the cinema and food court). There is a nice little play area for preschoolers with a place for them to get wet with the leaping water. An ok arcade for children a bit older and a food court to suit most anyone that would eat at a food court. The cinema is always clean, the staff is great and the selection is the best. Lots of families, so be forewarned, there will be noise during your movie. read more

Dont come here during holidays. I've been stuck just trying to come out for 3 hours. I was stuck because of freeways and everyone here is aggressive. I used to work at this location and parking close by was horrible during weekends. But weekdays was easy. People do not yield here. No one do complete stops. Town Center. Give me a break. This is nothing like a Town Center. Being from the east coast, I've been in many town centers. They give you a feeling of being in a town with stores at every corner and block. Some of them have built-in condos and restaurants. This was just a large parking lot with a shopping center, not town center. Then on top of that, what bonehead designed this place. If you go to the movies, the only way to get to them is to cross the busiest street of this so called town center. The pedestrians have no choice to tie up the cars and put themselves in harms way. All the eating establishments are in the middle of the parking lots. Meanwhile some of the shops are okay. Walmart patron scare me since they seem to be right out of the movie Deliverance. Lowes is great. Sport Chalet is big. Basically, the other shops are not places I go to. My main reason in coming here is Edwards Movie. I walk through a parking lot, not a town center, dodge cars, watch my movie, dodge cars, and take forever getting out because of all the pedestrians crossing the street. read more

I use LB town center to study! Free WiFi, please take atmosphere outlets to charge up whatever you need and big tables that let me spread out my work! Not to mention all the food options to choose from. Other than to study it's a great movie spot with Regal Cinemas 26, it's my favorite theater. Always clean and they have 3D, IMAX and regular screens! And if not there to watch a movie there is plenty of out door seating to grab a drink and watch a band play at their out door venue. They have two water features, a fountain and a trough, that are really nice to look at and create a pleasant ambiance. And if you happen to drop your phone while your there, no worries they have you covered with a cell phone repair satiation right on site! I would say the only down fall would have to be the parking, it can fill up fast. read more

So much potential.... Sounds like a great place on paper; there's everything from a movie theatre to Lowe's, Linens-N-Things, Pier 1, Tilly's, Micheal's, El Torito, Lucille's...the list goes on. But one single thing ruined all of that, poor planning of the center. First of all, when you drive in it can be confusing to find the business you're looking for without driving all over the place. Basically it's designed in a circle, one with the major stores on the outside, and smaller stores and food places in an inner circle. Every few feet is another stop and people run across, which is really dangerous. Parking is impossible here, often you have to wait 10 minutes to get a space, and even that is far away from where you want to go. Then to walk to the desired store you have to walk across where all the cars are coming in and hope they don't hit you. If you want to go to a place in the food court you have to walk quite a ways because there's only one entrance to the circle like court. Heaven forbid you want to go to more than one place here else you'll have to do a lot of walking. The stores are really spread out here. Don't come here unless you absolutely have to, it's more time and effort than it's worth. read more

Yes getting from point A to point B walking might be a bitch...so then drive!! I actually love the LBTC. It has so many stores in it that you really don't have to deal with crowds at malls. As for security? I think they do an amazing job. They're always around patrolling either by foot or bicycle. No purse snatching here ;) LBTC has a huge imax movie theatre..sit down restaurants..food court w/ Panda, Subway, and other yummy stuff. They have various clothing stores for all ages (except for men unless you're cool with Old Navy and Ross) bookstore..walmart..tire shop..tmobile..party city..beauty supply..EZ lube..Payless..Michaels..Staples..everything! There are lots of things to do in the towne center. From shopping, to eating, and the movies. The biggest issues here are traffic and parking. The thing here is that almost everything is here and you feel it from either trying to find parking or just trying to get out of the area. If you need a quick exit out of the lot, then travel out to the Walmart side and exit over there. read more

Like everyone else has said poor planning left lots of great potential in the dust. I feel like I am wasting so much gas when I come here so I limit it to trips to the general Pet Smart area (Barnes & Noble, Aaron Bros., and Pier 1), and maybe Carter's Childrens store. I will say that I did enjoy walking around the shopping center when my daughter was small and would sleep in her stroller. I got a pretty good workout, but still couldn't buy any huge items from Linens N Things because I couldn't carry them with me. We don't like the Ross or the Wal Mart at the shopping center; they are both very dirty and unorganized. read more

This is just to rate the play area and water play area by the movies. I used to hate coming to this center because, like other reviewers mentioned, the parking and traffic layout is HORRIBLE! Lot of bottle necks, illogical crisscrosses, obscure paths and stops signs to get out. BUT as I mentioned above this is a review on the play area which they recently updated in the last year or so. Took my son there today and he really enjoyed it. The climbing and slide apparatus is well made and good for all ages. The area is padded so kids who have minor falls won't get too hurt. Though the padding already looks worn with chunks missing in some spots. There's a low fence all around so the kids can't run out. But the fence has a opening that leads out to the canopied chairs and tables. I would have preferred there was a gate or something to prevent runaway kids, but at least the kids can't run too far since the tables and chairs slow them down somewhat! Lol! BTW those tables & chairs are wood and well made. So much more comfy than hard dirty plastic or wire sets. These make the visit feel like someones backyard. There's a pretty cool raised fire pit in the on the other side of the tables but it wasn't lit yet. I can imagine it getting pretty hot and pretty dangerous of curious kids once its lit. And about 20ft away is a water area with water dancing in and out. My 2yr loved it. I'm sure it'll be great as the weather gets hotter. Though I didn't see where the bathrooms are if you wanted to do a quick change once the clothes are wet. They're probably in the food court that's close by. And then there's the huge water fountain in the center. Great place to sit by and though it has openings to the water, I'm not sure if people are allowed in the water. it doesn't really look safe to do so. It's nice and peaceful in the early mornings when the shops haven't open yet which means less people. I doubt I'd take him there aside from the weekday mornings. Because traffic and crowds would suck. And the actual location and logistics to get there would be tiresome from the parking especially with a toddler and all the stuff you would have to lug around with you. There's not a whole lot of good shading aside from the umbrellas by the table. so bring sunblock. Last thing to note and this is not a good thing. Actually it really annoyed me was that fact that there were people smoking and its obviously permissible because all the trash cans had ashtrays on the top. Even the one that was nearest to the play area. As an ex-smoker and mother, i wouldn't want smoking to be allowed so close to wear children are. In fact, the Center should do what parks do and post signs that do not allow smoking 20-30ft from play areas. read more
