We bought our tickets on-line and ended up paying a n $8 fee. We should have just bought tickets at the theater and then we could have avoided the fee. There as no line when we arrived. The staff is super nice - down to earth. They offer a number of deals on popcorn and concessions. The theater was super clean. The chairs are comfortable, but not recliners. There are cup holders at each seat. Our view was unobstructed and noise level was low even though there were a lot of kids in the theater. There is a cute little birthday room set up with deals for the kids to get snacks and see a movie. The restrooms were clean (although a number of stalls were non operational. There was plenty of free parking close to the door. The lobby is filled with electronic games to keep the kids occupied before the show. I can't wait to go back without the kids and see an adult show.

We meet the new manager that had just taken over and he was kind considerate and generous with the snacks they bend over backwards to make your visit enjoyable and pleasant. The snacks were great the movie was excellent, the only negative was that the theaters heater wasn't working that night but we have been back and the were working fine He did say(the new mgr) that they had had several problems but were working them out one at a time. They really make you feel like the small local movie theater of the past with the newest technology seating overall experience, the best of both worlds.

Prices cannot be beat! Take the time to check out this theatre. You will enjoy a newly released feature at a great price in a historical building. Not to mention lots of leg room and very reasonably priced concessions. Oh and keep an eye out for community sponsored films. I have watched a few new films for free that were paid for by local businesses or churches!

As a wheelchair user, this can occasionally be complicated but I nearly always consider it to be worth any extra effort needed. This is very much the case with Fowler, Indiana's little gem of a theatres known as Fowler Theater. Originally built in 1940, this art deco theatre was rescued in 2001 by the Prairie Preservation Guild, a non-profit started with a mission of saving this once beautiful theatre that had fallen on hard times. They bought it for $30,000 and received a $2,000 grant from the Historic Landmarks Foundation and a $60,000 line of credit. Then, they went to work. The theatre actually opened that very year in December, though restoration has continued over the past 20 years. Detail paintings were done by David Orr of Sapphire Theatre Company out of Indy. Like many similar theatres, when originally built Fowler Theatre was a state-of-the-art technical marvel. In fact, it was one of only five movie theatres nationwide to premiere Gone With the Wind. Unfortunately, as times changed the theatre deteriorated and ownership lacked the means and willingness to invest in its upkeep. People stopped attending due to its condition. It was when locals discovered the owner planned to completely shut it down, sell off valued vintage pieces like the marquee, and turn it into a warehouse that the town committed to a different fate for the Fowler. These days, the movie theatre is run entirely by volunteers. Word has it that they've never failed to show a committed screening due to lack of volunteers. Think about that - in 20 years they've never failed. They committed early on to keeping screenings affordable and family friendly. Adult tickets are $6, children under 13 are $4. Concessions range from $.50 to $5. It is worth noting that tickets are cash only. Fowler is about 30 minutes outside Lafayette. It's a fun day trip and the town itself has quite the reputation for being haunted. The theatre hosts a variety of screenings and events. For example, right now you can actually catch "Sing 2" at the theatre. You can rent the theatre for screenings, parties, weddings, etc. - the price is affordable at $150 plus concessions. You can also rent the marquee for $26 per day. They also offer advertising on the screen - $60/month for for-profits and $40/month for non-profits. The Fowler Theatre has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 2004. Screenings are Friday-Sunday with one evening screening each day. The interior has art deco and art moderne elements. The marquee is still the original marquee. The original theatre could seat 442, however, current seating is 196. Around 2012, the Fowler was closed for a few months for more extensive renovations including restrooms and improved accessibility features. It's definitely a place where I feel comfortable and it's easily one of Indiana's best retro theatres. If you love classic movie theatres, a day trip to Fowler/Lafayette is a must.

Although the staff is small in number, they are quintessential hosts. The food is homemade; simple yet exquisite. The performance company is likewise phenomenally talented, drawing cast from near and far to blend into an exceptional show. The lobby is quaint yet modern, adding a nostalgic vibe you don't find very often. Yet another extraordinary feature is the restrooms. They are Individual and unisex each with a stunningly unique design theme. I would strongly recommend reservations (available on-line as well as at the box office) due to the somewhat limited- but all the more intimate- seating capacity. I cannot recommend this venue any more highly!!

I just saw a delightful production of Cinderella, with a delicious TV Dinner-inspired buffet of turkey and dressing, meatloaf, pot roast, pork loin, green beans, corn, peas and carrots, and mashed potatoes. These were preceded by their delicious broccoli salad and tossed salad, and even better than before yeast rolls with apple butter. There were also an apple crumble and peach cobbler (with a wonderfully buttery dough), as well as additional desserts that can be purchased for intermission. The new owners, Mark and Misty McGrady, have made sure to keep the atmosphere built by the founders, Donna and Richard Myers. As a returned Hillsboro native, Mark understands what this institution of over 25 years means to the area. They changed the broccoli salad slightly, just making it crunchier, and added a French salad dressing that had been served when a hotel restaurant occupied the space where the dining room/auditorium now is, in addition to Donna's original sweet and sour dressing for the tossed salad. Both were wonderful, like all the food. And then there's the price. Although the price is the same as another dinner theater about 56 miles east of them, for a weeknight show and seats on the very edge of the auditorium, the other place is $27 more than Myers for weekend evenings, in the center section (and that's ignoring that place's $5 surcharge for a 2-top, or $35 surcharge for the last row, which they call "box seats for two"). I have been there once, but Myers Dinner Theater is the one I keep returning to. While you're there, visit one of their uniquely decorated restrooms (whether you need to or not). My photographs of three of them should tell you why.
