It is cool to have a free paper that will entertain you for more than 5 minutes. It just keeps you in the know of what is going on. Ads in there also for places like Barcade, tell of upcoming events East/West beer ngiht and so on. I was actually revising and looking over that very issue again earlier today. (Jan5-18, cover had a story of 48 hours with a certain rock star). That title in itself makes it blog worthy and worth an actual look at the article which was very interesting. One guy actually talked about his waking up in the morning routines of eating cinnabons then alot of other healthy crap like squash, broccoli, beats, and kale but then use of some kinds of drugs. Ironic in that he seemed like a health nut with the food he actually consumed but used drugs and abused alcohol left and right. The bar and restaurant directory in the back makes alot of Brooklyn bars seem very appealing. I have also seen a few spots in there of places us yelp eliters got to sample at one point or another like Nita Nita and Woodwork. Thanks for the Reco's guys. Oh yeah then there is a sex with the natural redhead section on the back page, it is usually very funny stuff that explicitly involves penetration and sexual operations. Some more inappropriate than others. Overall- Yes, thank god it is free, I check out your magazine and now I need to look for the latest issue.

As a native New Yorker I've encountered L Magazine at Theatre for the New City and Theatre for American of Actors thus none avail elsewhere which is oddly strange. Personally, I best enjoyed the "Unemployment Issue" April/May 2010 as levity breaks the sadness of today's ailing economy.

They had news bins all around the NYC area on street corners, but now exists only as an online website, but have continued to win news coverage awards. Over the years they featured groundbreaking articles and many talented writers and editors. You can view the archives on its site along with some recent content. It's just not the same to me as I used to enjoy reading the print edition over a coffee at my local diner or coffee house. It was a good read to learn about the arts, culture, music, dance, film, and theater reviews happening in the NYC area.

The magazine is full color and glossy. This is not a cheap freebie newsprint magazine. It sets a precedent of what is yet to come for life "on the other side of the Hudson". The photographs inside are professionally taken and each store and article gets at least half a page or more. Justice is done for the local entrepreneurs and artists. New magazine does a great job showcasing the locals. Get a glimpse of what life is like for mothers, web-site pioneers, jewelry designers, and art enthusiasts. The web-site for New is equally impressive. New encourages community interaction and local submissions. Welcome to Jersey City and Hoboken. While the facades may change, hopefully the historic integrity will be kept and the attitudes will keep as down to Earth. What was once just the financial district and land of former warehouses is now an emerging art scene, urban haven, and home to bars and restaurants geared to the trendy, upper crust, and family focused.

In the 1970s this was the place the literary magazine Pulp that I edited was printed and designed. They did an absolutely stupendous job each time: very caring and high design quality. The person who helped in addition to Mr. Kim was Harold Steinberg of Brooklyn who translated in a very broad sense and worked as a wonderful partner for Mr. Kim. They helped me publish the award winning magazine for ten years, 1974-1984. I was so fortunate to find them purely by chance. May your business keep flourishing. Nope- this magazine is all about booze- wine, beer, ciders, liquor, etc. This magazine is put out to inform readership of new brands that are coming out, new flavors, where things are going with booze trends. The advertisements in here are all liquor related. They're fun to see what those liquor companies are up to. My favorite section is the Parting Shot- an old time photo of drinking or liquor stuff. They're fun to try and guess when and where it was taken. They have some cool stories about new cocktails and bartenders and things that are going on in the mixology world. This is how I stay on top of my fancy liquors without breaking the bank. They always have these photos of executives of giant liquor companies and the best hottest chefs drinking gallons of primo booze that always makes me jelly. The best part of this magazine is that it's free!
