I occasionally receive their "Top 10 Restaurants" or "Coolist Underground Bars In NYC" and "50 Best Bars in NYC" which actually prompts me to Yelp bookmark and ultimately visit to patronize. "Time Out New York" enables me to separate workplace life from attaining a personal life because I suffer from burn out for years. The emails keep me informed of the latest restaurants, bars, cafes, museums, and events in NYC as life appears to return to normalcy of pre COVID-19 pandemic era. I have actually find some of their listings inaccurate and agree with Yelpers, and vice versa, respectively, with some reviews where "Time Out Magazine" was accurate with their brief description. Yelpers are more detailed and write a narrative personal first hand experience.

It keeps me up to date on the latest movies, restaurants, exhibits and so much more. Since I don't see a paper edition available now I read the news on their Facebook page. I'm really pleased they keep their Facebook page up to date. It's enough information for me to feel like I'm keeping current with the happenings in my city. The Village Voice was a one of a kind NYC alternative weekly newspaper founded in 1955 and won many…read moreawards over their print run, including Pulitzer Prizes. They had news bins all around the NYC area on street corners, but now exists only as an online website, but have continued to win news coverage awards. Over the years they featured groundbreaking articles and many talented writers and editors. You can view the archives on its site along with some recent content. It's just not the same to me as I used to enjoy reading the print edition over a coffee at my local diner or coffee house. It was a good read to learn about the arts, culture, music, dance, film, and theater reviews happening in the NYC area.

In the 1970s this was the place the literary magazine Pulp that I edited was printed and designed. They did an absolutely stupendous job each time: very caring and high design quality. The person who helped in addition to Mr. Kim was Harold Steinberg of Brooklyn who translated in a very broad sense and worked as a wonderful partner for Mr. Kim. Nope- this magazine is all about booze- wine, beer, ciders, liquor, etc. This magazine is put out to inform readership of new brands that are coming out, new flavors, where things are going with booze trends. The advertisements in here are all liquor related. They're fun to see what those liquor companies are up to. My favorite section is the Parting Shot- an old time photo of drinking or liquor stuff. They're fun to try and guess when and where it was taken. They have some cool stories about new cocktails and bartenders and things that are going on in the mixology world. This is how I stay on top of my fancy liquors without breaking the bank. They always have these photos of executives of giant liquor companies and the best hottest chefs drinking gallons of primo booze that always makes me jelly. The best part of this magazine is that it's free!

I read it daily in my advertising adjacent vocation and on a good day, it's full of insider spin on projects in development and movement of key people. On a slow day it's rife with tabloid quality insider dirt on who's in and who's out and other rage bait worthy enticements. To their credit, Variety's reviews of just released film and television properties are usually spot on and spare no one. Would I pay for it... not really. However on a complimentary subscription it can be a very fun read. Four solid stars.
