Lake Success Dental Care Edith…read more Five stars and a dentist's office sounds like an oxymoron, a contradiction, a paradox. It's like jumbo shrimp or a garbage dump that smells sweet. These things just don't make sense or don't happen...and yet, there's an exception to every rule. In this case, Lake Success Dental Care in New Hyde Park 100% fits that idea. Okay, maybe I just have a very melodramatic history with dentists. I didn't go to one for a length of time I'd rather not discuss just due to never having a legitimate dentist I trusted or felt wouldn't yell at me for lack of brushing/flossing/etc. Then my sis/mother told me about Lake Success Dental Care and I finally decided I needed to bite the bullet (preferably not before a dentist trip, tooth joke) and make an appointment (plus they accepted my insurance, so that worked). Upon entering the office building where the practice is located, I was a ball of nerves, but the nicely-decorated waiting area almost didn't feel like I was about to have people stick their hands in my mouth. Things were comfortable and welcoming, with a phone charging station available if needed. Good start. Once my name was called, the nerves rose a little more, but each employee I met was very kind and I have to say, no one even came close to wagging a finger in my direction due to dental hygiene (even if they probably should have). The dentist I saw that day, Dr. Dai, didn't emanate a great initial friendliness, but he still kept things calm in his process. From that first trip back in November to now, I've visited Lake Success Dental Care four times (one more before a break!) and they've done some great work in getting my mouth all caught up on cleanings and fillings. Each trip was more of the same: calm, welcoming, timely, and never reprimanding (a big win in my book). I also met Edith, who will process your payments before you depart. She's a big reason why I almost (dare I say) enjoy coming to the dentist. Her and the whole friendly staff has made a lasting impression on me (even Dr. Dai opened up this last time around). Two other favorable factors worth mentioning are their hours and notifications. They run crazy times for a dentist's office with nights going until 9 as well as weekend hours available both Saturday and Sunday. They honestly make it hard for you to not find a time that works (even if you try...which I might have done when making that first phone call, heh heh). Once you've got your appointment, they'll call, email, and even text to make sure don't forget when to come in. Even though I'm usually good with dates, it's still great to know when I'm approaching that dental visit (you can't escape it!) Overall, Lake Success Dental Care has turned my world around in how I perceive dentists. I'm sure there are plenty of practices that are actually formidable for those without a childhood phobia of dentistry, but if you're reading this review and fear for your next dental visit, fear no more! Lake Success Dental Care is here for comfort, friendliness, proficiency, and an all-around positive experience. So maybe five stars isn't so far fetched for a dentist. I've been with Westbury dental spa since Dr. Carla Blain was the owner. Since ownership has changed over to Dr. Orza however , it seems the waiting room became more aesthetically pleasing procedures became more expensive but patient care became their last priority. I only have gone to them for minor things, like regular cleanings my yearly check up out of convenience since I live in the area. In 2022 I had gotten pricing for a tooth pull and an implant which I thought was outrageous. So I went to a different dental surgeon, All County Oral in Jericho by the way, tell them Carla sent you. It's a bit of a drive for me so I didn't switch dentists altogether, instead, I got the implant and came back to Westbury dental spa for the cap. Fast forward to this year, I made my yearly appointment at Westbury dental Spa. I was having some discomfort with the tooth implants & during my cleaning they noticed my cap was loose, they did x-rays and I was told I would need to see their oral surgeon as they couldn't adjust the cap because they believed the issue to be the implant. They day of my appoint with the oral surgeon came, AN HOUR BEFORE my appointment the front desk girl called to inform me that I needed to be prepared to pay, I was very much angry at the fact that they waited right before my appointment to tell me this. I show up, now having made rushed arrangements with care credit only to find that the surgeon not only isn't going to see me, but Dr. orza came in and told me I had a possible infection and that the surgeon took a look at the Xray & agreed that the implant was being rejected. This week my implant completely fell out, I was not in any pain but called them regardless to ask if there was anything I needed to do. I went into their office for an emergency appointment just to make sure said "infection" wouldn't cause me any harm being that I still needed clearance by my OB for the scheduled extraction & bone graft that she very quickly made sure to get me an appointment with the surgeon for. Ofcourse this an out-of-pocket expense of $6980 appointment was prioritized & I was set up with this elusive surgeon. As soon as I arrived today the front desk girl goes "did you not get our text, we texted you to see if you could come in at 1 were running 1/2 and hour behind" I made her aware I had another commitment and could only wait 15mins. Being in that waiting room today on a random Saturday really opened my eyes that it's not just me, one patient was told on arrival that they don't take her insurance, the other was there for her Invisalign & divulged she left a review in exchange for a small discount but was so unhappy with the practice. So who knows how many of these reviews were coerced. Because myself and these other two unhappy patients got to talking they made sure to get me to the back and a s a p. Turns out there was another dentist there, one that I did not know, she had me undergo another cray only to tell me that the implant came out clean and I didn't have an infection at all! I only went today to ensure I was okay to leave the implant out and that said infection didn't worsen. I'm glad I did though, today's visit further solidified what I have been feeling since this DR. Took over, they don't care about their patients they care about their bottom line which is $$$. The fact that the doctor that was there tried to back track and tell me that "they may have done a different type of x-ray that I do not know how to read & that's why they told you an infection but from what I can see that is not the case" LITERALLY ... W H A T. They are so quick to push stupid aesthetic procedures like teeth whitening & Invisalign but can't get their heads out of their ass long enough to inform a patient thoroughly.

Scheduling wasn't difficult and they told me upfront what my out of pocket costs would be. The doctors were thorough, gentle and patient. They told me the game plan beforehand and let me know what I should expect in terms of pain and discomfort. They let me take some time when things got painful which I appreciate. Anyone who knows me knows I have a nearly impossible schedule if any plans need to be made. Top of the list of things I almost can never get around to is the dentist! No good dentist has late appointments or weekend appointments. In steps Dr. Mangiaracina. I called late on a Saturday and left a voicemail. Totally not expecting anyone to answer but she herself called me back within 15 mins. I explained how my old dentist no longer accepted my insurance and I have a crazy schedule. What ensued was a great conversation and she promised to work with me. My first visit she did an exam and told me I had a broken tooth & she could do an overlay and save the tooth instead of putting a cap on. I love how she thinks. Then I knew I loved her when she told me she was going to bond another tooth that 3 other dentists insisted that I get root canal & a cap. I refused all 3 because I know my tooth was fine just chipped. She put up with my crazy schedule and accommodated me and got the work done. And I might add with NO NOVOCAIN!!! Removed two of the remaining wisdom tooth with sedation which was not intimidating at all. Of course I was a bit nervous, but with the protection of Hashem coupled by these experienced staff, the procedure took less than 28 mins.
