The brunch menu prices are pretty reasonable. I came for brunch and would definitely return to try the dinner menu. I wish they had more cardio equipment but everyone is respectiful of the time limit, cleaning the equipment down & waiting their turn. The weight room is larger & offers a lot of different machines & free weights. The locker rooms & pool have been redone since Sandy & they did a great job. My favorite is the steam room. All the staff are friendly. It's a great spot to run into neighbors, store owners & friends. It's rare to go there & not see someone you know from the community. I found Empire Kayaks through Yelp and they seemed to check all the boxes for me. As someone who can't swim and is truly afraid of falling into the water, the location was very important to me. Empire Kayaks is located at the end of a residential block, and in the back, they have access to a "small" body of water. Since it wasn't the open ocean, it felt just a tad safer to me. The process was so simple, with cubbies and life jackets provided. They gave a quick lesson on how to use the paddle board, which was greatly appreciated as only a second-timer. They assist you with launching the paddle board from a very shallow body of water. And then, you're pretty much allowed to paddle wherever you want. It was really fun, especially with other kayakers/paddle boarders in the water too. I was a bit sad the water wasn't clear like Hawaii, which scares me when I can't see what's happening in the waters, but we're in NY, so duh, what did I expect? The only downside is you might get stuck if you get too close to the edges, which almost happened to me and I started to panic. Another con is a lot of boats are parked at the piers of this body of water, so you'll have boats of all sizes whizzing by, and it's really up to you to try to avoid them because who knows if they will. Also, if you get caught in the ripple made by the boat, it's really hard to stay balanced on the board!

He asks me to wait outside and he'll be right with me. 20 minutes later he walks out and says that I'm actually 25 minutes late now and their policy is to not accept anyone more than 15 minutes late. Nowhere was this on time policy stated on any of the emails leading up to this class. Traffic is insane in New York City and it's a blessing to be just five minutes late for anything. I can't stop thinking of the smug look on the instructor's face as he delighted in telling me that he made me miss the course and wouldn't let me in. This is a pathetic excuse for a company. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. EDIT: above is truth. Below is lies. His own employees leave him google reviews. Why go to a place that stacks it's reviews. Just find someplace else and ensure you're treated with respect and dignity. Caveat emptor EDIT2: I've tried to contact the owner directly via phone and email. I get no response. He's only willing to talk to me over google or yelp reviews. If this is the sort of experience that you want from your CPR class then come here. If you want decent customer service then go ANYWHERE else. This dude says he has cameras but this course is literally done in a municipal rec center. It's not his facility. His company is trying to scam me. If you want lies then come here. If you want to take off of work only to be turned away after showing up five minutes late then come here. You won't find a better or more dedicated captain and crew anywhere. The regulars are friendly and welcoming. The trips run anywhere from full day fluke to three quarter day sea bass. Tuna season in the canyon is about to begin. This season we go deep sea in 125' of water. I've fished all over Long Island and I always come back to my friends at Capt Lou fleet!
