The night before I was to run 50 mile race in rural Kentucky, I was invited to have dinner with…read morerace Director and new friends as well as old friends. I did not pick this restaurant, but it ended up to be a good one. Sazon's restaurant is a Mexican restaurant in a small rural town of Williamson, West Virginia. You don't see much in these rural towns, but if you can find them, they're there. With that said, I arrived here around 7 PM on a chill Friday evening. I decided to come here a little bit early just because I have nothing better to do. After 1/2 hour half had passed, friends start to arrive and we got a table near the back of the restaurant. We had about 20 people in our party and it ended up being a good one. The overall experience here took about an hour or so. It was nice to be able to talk about marathons, running, traveling, and anything else you can pick up with old friends and new friends alike. Sazon's Mexican restaurant is a small restaurant that serves up delicious Mexican fare. We lucked out in having a nice area to have our party and definitely was nice to enjoy awesome delicious food as well as nice company on a chill Friday evening. If you're all in the area and need some Mexican cuisine in your life, consider coming to Williamson West Virginia and enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine. I recommend the Carne Asada plate because that's what I had and it was awesome for sure. The overall experience here at Sazon Mexican restaurant here in Williamson, West Virginia was very good and typical at the same time. The service here was friendly and good. Because we had a very large group, they had to take individual orders one at a time instead of doing larger group orders / family style dining. The wait time was about 15 to 20 minutes for the orders to start arriving. As aforementioned before, I had the Carne Asada plate which came with four tortillas. I ended up having the Carne Asada without two of the tortillas and gave the extras to a friend of mine who wanted it for his meal. Ate part of the plate with having it in the tortillas and half of it without it. I enjoyed the flavors and everything. It was cool to enjoy it with tortillas or not. Although it was definitely delicious regardless of how you eat it. The prices here were pretty good and decent. $20 per entree was pretty good, although you figure you're in rural West Virginia so the prices are noticeably higher. The menu was pretty extensive and it was cool to have time to choose from the menu from a large selection versus a short list. For the most part though, the experience here at Sazon Mexican restaurant was good and sociable. It was enjoyable and hope to be back sometime soon, if future travels permit me to do so. If you're in the area of Williamson, West Virginia, consider coming here for happy hour and delicious Mexican cuisine. Sazon's Mexican restaurant is located in the rural town of Williamson, West Virginia. It's physically located at 201 W 2nd Avenue in downtown Williamson. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, there is a generous parking lot for customers who drive in. There's also street parking wherever you can find it. Being that it is a small town, you could find parking wherever that's legal to park. Not sure about if Williamson and the region has public transportation options, but best bet would be to get your own car or rent one at the airport or something and drive in. There are regional transportation options but nothing like metro transit options like in major cities. And of course, there is uber and Lyft for your convenience, but they do cost a lot comparative to renting a car and add on insurance. With that said, with good authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Williamson, West Virginia, it's not hard to find. If you find yourself in the area and want something different from the usual grind, consider coming to Sazon Mexican restaurant for a good meal. You won't regret it. I know I didn't and I ran 50 miles the next day and didn't have any problems. At least, not from the food and drinks. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Support local! A+

My husband got red beans and rice and it was also very dry. You usually get hot sauce with Cajun food and we had to ask for it. There was a lady that seemed to run the place sitting near us and she made zero effort to help with customers. When we were eating - she asked how it was and we said good (awkward), then she responded "I was hoping it was good, it's the first time I've ever made it" um, excuse me? The first time you've ever made it? I was so confused at how they run a restaurant and hadn't made the dishes before. It showed they had no experience in cooking the dishes. I love a hole in the wall place but this was pretty dirty. The fried pickles were ok, and my husband liked the boudin balls - but we won't be back.

Based on the season will depend on what food is available because it is Fresh! Zero leftovers period. Good luck there being any anyway because of the flavor. Service is personal. I'm talking the owner is also one of the cooks and she's always coming out to the patrons and really talks to them. Not just the welcome to our restaurant, it's come on in and she'll get you fully excited, mouth watering, can't wait to come back again all before your food has even arrived. The ambiance? You walk in those doors and you're instant family. Not just by the workers, even the customers will talk across tables joining in. I can't express enough just how much everyone really needs to experience this family owned and operated down home creole living.
