We ate here during our first visit to the HMT trail system (we drove in our vehicle, didn't ride direct from the trails). It was busy on a Saturday night. For a first time visitor, it was confusing. You walk in and shuffle down (no hostess) to a cafeteria line. You order your drinks first, get a tray and push it along. Food next - you order from a large board. Then you take a number and go find your own seat. They have a salad bar and a large hot bar. The salad was great - fresh and lots of toppings! I ordered the filet and my husband ordered a ribeye. When our plates arrived, my heart sank. My filet looked like a burnt pork chop. I did order it medium well, but it looked charred. The ribeye looked delicious though! I was pleasantly surprised though after trying it. It was tasty! It didn't look like the filet I'm used to, but had a very good taste. My husbands ribeye was perfect as well. Overall, the food was wonderful. Our total was $50 and change for two steak dinners and a salad bar. If they had better communication or signs for first timers, they would have gotten 5 stars. read more

Thoroughbreed Steak House is owned by a family so therefore when you comes to this Thoroughbreed Steak House you will expect that it's going to make you feel as if you are in a family's home which is a great feeling especially to be in a place to eat. Some of the foods they are very delicious, the chef who cooks your foods are very friendly and always would make sure that the foods that they cook meets your expectation. If you dislike the foods then the chef would be more than happy to cook another plate for you to make sure that it is the foods just the way you want them to be. Which this is where a bit of problem comes in because some of the customers never realize that they're given the options of how way they want their foods done such as well-done or medium done or raw, so please be sure to ask the waitress how you want your foods to be done so that way you get what you come for and to enjoy. I am very picky when it comes to any kinds of foods, keep that in mind that everyone has different taste but as goes for me I dislike every meats they serve except their hamburger steak which that's one of my all-time favorite meat. Several people likes some of other meats that they serve, so if you like rib then you'll like their rib, if you like fish then you'll like their fish, if you like sirloin steak then you'll like their sirloin steak which all of these meats that I don't like but that's not just because of them as I don't like them from anywhere else including my own home. So I only speak for their steak hamburger and the rest of their sides foods. Their hamburger steak is very delicious, juicy, cooked to perfection which is well-done for me, the butter on their Texas bread is even out perfectly (not overly, not underdone) and their baked potatoes with melt cheese is amazingly delicious. Their buffets bar (foods bar, or buffet or however you prefer) are always delicious, on the bar their macaroni & cheese is insanely amazing especially that it's very creamy (just the way I like). If you'd like to try out my favorite menu, I would recommend: Well-done hamburger steak with baked potatoes on the side, melt cheddar on top of the baked potatoes and two Texas buttered bread. Also to have some of their foods, you are not required to eat them inside as they offer takeouts so if you aren't in the mood to be going out to eat then simply call their number to make a order for takeout for your family, friends or a group of party. read more

This place was great! Was in town for a marathon and was craving steaks. This was the first place that we've tried where we did not have to add any seasoning at all. I love my steak cooked rare. Most places will cook them med rare or med. the cook made mine the way that ordered it. The prices were reasonable and the staff were all so sweet and friendly. read more

I was in Pikeville visiting my husband's family and they decided to take the drive to South Williamson to this steak house. As soon as I walked in I felt like I stepped back in time! We use to have a Golden Corral in Harrodsburg Ky just like this. Cafeteria style when you walk in. Grab your tray pick your drink or dessert then slide on down to register to pick what meal you wanted. I got the ribeye meal and salad bar. They have an unlimited salad bar which is why the 3rd star. It was really good and items looked fresh. They had a hot bar which you could buy without buying one of the other meals. My steak wasn't that great, very thin and it was cooked through and not the medium rare I ordered. The sweet potato was extremely small. I'd go back and just get the salad bar. read more

This is a cozy little steakhouse. You can order off the menu or you can get the hot bar. I always get the hot bar because their is always something I enjoy their! Had a private get together here with family to celebrate new pregnancy. Horrible horrible food. Ordered medium steaks and all were very well done, thin cuts, and burnt. Baked potatoes were small and the bread was all cold. NO SAUCES NEEDED. Being called Steakhouse, I was most judgmental on the steak. I had questions about the steak so the staff went and got the chef. He picked out a special piece to my liking and cooked it to perfection! The meat was tender and juicy with the right amount of seasoning. The salad bar had many choices and could serve a a meal itself. The staff was helpful and kind throughout the meal. I highly recommend if you appreciate a well cooked steak. read more
