There was some gristle in it which I don't love. Service was fast and nice once we got seated. From the outside, you would never expect what it looks like in the inside. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu as they have both Americanized Chinese food and authentic Chinese food. Try Dandan noodles for a unique and flavorful experience. There is Sichuan pepper in this so be mindful if you have a low heat tolerance! The waiters were nice with us and attentive to our water supply. read more

My partner ordered the Sichuan Style Kung Pau Chicken and unfortunately didn't care for it because it had nuts in it. The prices seemed high for other Chinese places I have been to. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the pork mein and dan dan noodles with spicy pork dumplings. Everything was amazing.

I used to eat these sorts of dishes all the time, but I've shifted, in part because at most Chinese places, the vegetarian options amount to tofu with white rice and I like more variety. Here, they do it well though. My home-style tofu came with a sauce rich in fermented broad beans (doubanjiang) and the vegetable assortment included bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms but also some delightful little chilis. And they certainly didn't skimp on the tofu. My veggie egg rolls were less impressive; smallish, black pepper flavored creations with a sweet sauce. I could have done with some different options for appetizers on either their Americanized or their more Chinese menu, or the ability to order a side vegetable without another plate of rice. But the Mandarin being spoken and the quality ingredients were reassurance to me that I made a decent decision to stop here. read more

There is an American Chinese food menu and authentic chinese food. We ordered Dandan noodles, salt and pepper sparerib, cold beef , eggplant with garlic sauce. Price is reasonable. All are yummy, but they are kind of with a twist. The salt and pepper usually porkchop, and the pepper is white pepper. This one uses sparerib and black pepper. The eggplant is cube size, coated with flour and fried. Never had this style before. The Dandan noodle is soupy. Usually, Dandan noodles are dry, this one more like sichuan chongqing mien. The cold dish is authentic, like what we usually have at other restaurants. The service is good. It is interesting to see the owner come up with food and ask the server to try. He also told one of the customers that " I cooked that." One downside is if you pay credit card, there is 3% fee. read more

I've been to this restaurant countless times. You like authentic, or Americanized they can fix it. You want it mild, not a problem. You really like spicy hot, got you covered. You want it eye watering, sweat pouring, painful, spicy hot this is the place!!! I've had the painful by special request and was awesome, they have something for everyone. Came here with classmates and sat at one of the large tables in the back with the turning table for family style dining. I forgot everything we got, but I remember we got the scallion pancake, eggs and chives, braised eggplant, mapo tofu, fuqi feipian and an intestine dish. The service was relatively quick and the dishes started to come out one by one. My favorites would have to be the eggplant, chive eggs, and fried intestines. Each had great textures and flavors. Some of the dishes like the fuqi feipian were good, but not as good as it is at other Chinese restaurants in the area. My only complaint is that the prices are a bit high even if you're splitting the check while doing family style dining. The quality of the dishes was good, but I'm not sure I would frequent this place considering the price point. read more

While visiting Bloomington, we stopped in at Longfei for dinner. The street was torn up around Longfei but we did manage to find our way in. Longfei is an authenic chinese restaurant with an abundance of Asians dining here and excited. The restaurants was very loud, noisy and a bit messy. There were boxes of soda stacked on the floor, dirty tables and confusion as to who was our waitress. As we entered, there was a bottleneck at the front desk with clients paying and several of us waiting to be seated. We ordered the vegetable egg rolls. 3 cup chicken and Mongolian beef. The egg rolls were crispy and fresh. They had a great taste and were quite warm. The 3 cup chicken sauce was very heavy and thick. The sauce was overwhelming and to thick to place on the rice. The chicken was chopped with fragments of bone along with the chicken. It was hard to eat without using your fingers, making it very messy. The Mongolian beef was fair at best. There were more cut veggies than beef. The seasoning was lacking flavor and underwhelming. A big let-down with the cleanliness and taste of the food at Longfei. Perhaps, I ordered the wrong dishes but the restaurant is not tidy. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and wish them the best. read more

I'd consider this to be a fairly standard American Sichuan restaurant. Not the best Sichuan food I've had, but fully up to standard, and better than you'd expect from a small town like Bloomington. Pork intestine had the perfect level of chewiness, and potato was cooked perfectly. Dumplings were handmade and some of the better potstickers I've had in recent memory. read more

The tripe and beef appetizer had a zing of flavor on my tongue, exactly as it's supposed to. The tendon wasn't as tender as I prefer, but enjoyed anyway. Really good. We got 2 traditional Chinese dishes and one Chinese American minus the spice for our 4 year old. All were good! I definitely think there was more depth of flavor in the straight up Chinese dishes, but we also got the Americanized Orange Chicken sans spice, so that may have played a role. My husband's favorite was the lamb cumin, which I agree was good and flavorful, but I have that genetic thing where cilantro tastes like soap so every third bite I was BLEH. Probably the best Chinese spot in Bloomington out of many. Their menu indicates the American-Chinese food and authentic-Chinese food which is cool. Everything is delicious here and the ingredients are all fresh. Giant portions are always nice to have as well. You know it's a great spot when the restaurant is filled with mostly native Chinese (especially in Indiana). I'd recommend the steamed pork buns, shrimp and broccoli and any of the fried rice dishes. i come here all the time! it's great for small groups and they have a back area where they can fit large groups. i usually like eating family style where we order a few entrees to share. the interior is casual, with the main level warmly lit. the music was a top 40 playlist today i ordered 3 dishes! you can ask for rice on the side too. *B2 crab rangoon - 3.5/5 stars. wonton skin was not as fresh but the filling and red sauce were delicious! nice crunch. this was my first time trying it so it could be better next time since i came in at 3 pm on a monday *E1 braised pork with baby choy - this is my favorite dish that i order every time!!!! since it's slow cooked, the pork is tender and flavorful! the sauce is rich and very filling. *D5 steamed chicken with chili - be aware that this is a cold dish! but the chicken is soft and sweet! service - most of the servers are international college students! they're just there to bring you food, not much customer service interaction. the owner xiaofei is the homie lol. he likes having funny interactions with us when i come with my asian american friends! definitely will come back more while i'm at IU. it's one of my fav places for chinese food. read more

Ordered from both menus. The Szechuan kung pao chicken surely delivered in the spice department but there was a flavor profile in the dish that was not welcoming to the palate. I have eaten authentic dishes before with those incredible peppercorns, and all I wanted to do is eat more. I wanted no part of this dish. Ordered the ubiquitous General Tso's because I was craving something sweet, spicy, and crunchy. It wasn't anything I would eat again. There was no great care taken with the fried rice, it was just a brown soy sauce ladened dish that lacked the depth of flavor usually associated with Asian recipes and ingredients. What you see in the photos, is unfortunately, all the food that was left uneaten. Since we were on a road trip and don't live in the area, there was no pressure to ever revisit this establishment again. read more

Stoooed on a Sunday while visiting our daughter at IU. Access is a little tricky with the construction in Grant St. (August 2022), but persevere - its worth it! First, the food was great, especially fried dumplings appetizer. Obviously Home made and delicious! Dad got General Tso's (low risk American Chinese), which was good, but next time will definitely order from the Authentic Chinese menu options. The bride got seafood Lo Mein, the daughter chicken liver mein, and plates were cleared - the sauce on the seafood had a nice ginger zing. Service was excellent -- no less than four people visited our table, offering drink refills, checking to be sure we loved the food, and offering any assistance. They only have one unisex restroom which was a little rustic but clean. Not a complaint. We will definitely be back in future visits to Bloomington. Did I mention the dumplings? So good! read more
