The local place to get your necessities... Soon as the Sunday ads come out we scan and head right for our favorite local Long's and this Kahala Mall location really isn't mine but is one if I'm ever in the area which I was today since I was here for an errand. This mall location is a bit smaller than the usual making it less to find the usual items found at other locations but does offer all the usual services like their pharmacy and photo. Though realizing they have a sale item I was looking for personally didn't ask for help but had the hardest time finding the item to only give up is quite frustrating as if it's on sale it should be prominently displayed which they don't often do so and since this isn't my usual store I don't know it as well. Having two multiple entrance does make it easy though when it's close to the mall's closing time they do close the entrance which get annoying lol but is a great convenience for me a few times when I needed prescription badly or looking for that item it has saved me greatly and will always appreciate the convenience it gives. Thank you!

This location is always busy with so many people and the lines for the pharmacy may or may not be long. The long time staff here are helpful and friendly. They seem to really care about the store which is a plus. The sales are good and even better with a coupon. The prices are pretty outrageous without the coupon. I really like how longs still caters to the locals with our favorite snacks, supplies and foods. It's nice to see the shelves lined with kaki mochi, lihing powder, haupia mix, ramen and shrimp chips for snacking. I really like how the do it yourself aisle includes Asian fix it items like small drainers, clothes pins, musubi molds. Longs is very unique to the island in the products they sale. The pharmacy lines are painful and it's not the fault of the employees. Omg..the customers picking up medicine asks the most inane questions taking up the counter time while the lines build. The technicians are patient. I do think they need to staff pharmacy better. Definitely will return here again and again!

(Shopped 08/23/24 FR @ 6:00pm & 08/28/24 WE @ 6:00pm): I "travel" a long way to shop at this drug store! I visited Longs Drugs' Kahala location specifically to buy my favorite shampoo that I've used for decades. Amazon charged an arm and a leg to ship to the Hawaiian Islands, and this particular item wasn't readily available at all convenience or grocery stores. Thankfully, I did an online search and this location was the closest to me that said they had it in stock (there was a Longs Drugs closer to me but they didn't stock the item). In case you didn't know, Longs Drugs was the same company back on the mainland known as CVS Pharmacy, so you were able to use your "Bucks" with both brands which was pretty cool. Was this a successful possibly longshot visit for the drug I used for my hair!? PURCHASE Pantene Pro-V Volume & Body 2 in 1 Shampoo + Conditioner 17.9floz Bottle $8.99, & Lays Potato Chips Limited Ed. Honey Butter, Tzatziki, And Cuban Sandwich 2.62oz Bags $3.19 x3 ($19.43): The body and volume this shampoo provided my fine hair along with the light candy-like fragrance, I will stick with this product until they finally discontinue it (which I hoped they never will)! As for the funky potato chips, if you really knew me, then these impulse buys were a no-brainer. I loved salty snacks, potato chips, and whenever Lays put out these unique flavors, I had to try them out. I travel a lot, and have thoroughly enjoyed the various flavors found around the world. In order of my preference, Tzatziki (Greece), Cuban Sandwich (Cuba), and Honey Butter (Korea) was where my palate led me. Find these if you can! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=NffqGUb55Gs_S6MVWh96uA Hawaiian Host Honey Milk Chocolate Macadamias 4oz Bag $4.99, Hawaiian Host Kona Coffee Milk Chocolate Macadamias 4oz Bag $4.99, Hawaiian Host Strawberries & Cream White Chocolate Macadamias 4oz Bag $4.99 x2, Family Maid Safety Pins Assorted Sizes 135ct $2.39, Stouffer's Macaroni & Cheese 12oz $4.99 ($28.63): My sister asked to bring back some edible souvenirs, so Hawaiian Host macadamia nut treats were always a hit! The safety pins were used for newly-purchased curtain ties, and the frozen dinner was to be my last meal before I left the following morning (it was surprisingly good and hearty!). https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=rtawgEX3Lw1hMWNDgT0T_Q SERVICE Generally speaking, I roamed the aisles and found my intended purchases easily enough. The young women I dealt with at the checkout counter were friendly and got me through quickly - mahalo! PARKING (FREE) Located at the Kahala Mall, there was plenty of parking - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your basic convenience/drug store layout with multiple uniformed aisles, promotional end-caps, table displays, and a fleet of cashiers ready to take your money. The usual promotional posters hung on the walls. This was a smaller place than I expected, and reminded me more of a glorified mini-mart. Plenty of natural lighting came in through the large tinted glass doors and windows while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while I believed music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&select=io4NSX-P6Dd8beXBY6tbuQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Kahala's Longs Drugs' location was very convenient, served my immediate purposes, and I would certainly visit them again if needed. Everything was straightforward, they carried the necessities, had a pharmacy, a frozen food section (no fresh produce), and most familiar name brands. The prices were comparable (sign up for their ticker-tape of coupons and discounts), parking was easy, and the service was more than adequate (I couldn't recall if they had self-checkout). I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $48.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Longs Drugs in Kahala is a very busy location. Shared parking at the mall. I got lucky today and got a parking space right outside of Longs. Went to get my Covid booster. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Checking in was breeze. The pharmacist came promptly at our reserved time. Friendly, fast, and efficient. Enjoy.

"What!? Another CVS Longs!? Well....."…read more This is NOT a 24 Hour Longs. THIS review is for the AINA HINA location and I am focusing on the Pharmacy. I have been going here for a couple of years now and I have to say, the pharmacy staff is great and on the ball. They friendly, efficient and informative when you have questions. Sometimes vaccines or prescriptions are not available but they are more than happy to work with you to schedule a more convenient time or another store that night have what you need. Of the many Longs I have visited on occasion, this Longs harkens to the days when a friendly, familiar face was what you could count on. Note: this Longs location as a whole does not appear to have all the items you would find at larger Longs locations- they of course have the items that are on the weekly sale, but not necessarily a large selection of other items.

Not really my go to Long's and it's not just the location which isn't in my area yup but the location that's right across the shopping center which is great that they're not a part of it so the parking situation is exclusively their own but getting there right off Kalanianaole Hwy you can't make a left turn so I had to drive further down and make a turn around to get into the lot. The store feels quite dated and a bit on the smaller side but I did stop by this location since I was in the area and not wanting to deal with Kahala Mall and search for parking and decide to give this place a try, the selection wasn't that great for me and just didn't have items that I was looking for. Great for the residents in the area but the accessibility and selection here isn't for me which is sad considering it's such a lovely location. Thank you!

See, someone in my office is coughing and she made other coworkers around her sick. I don't want to catch that! The pharmacy clerk kindly asked for my driver's license and pulled up my immunization record in the Minute Clinic system. In no time at all, he found my chart and suggested another immunization in addition to the flu shot. Together, we went over the questions about allergies and reactions to past immunizations. He returned my driver's license to me and showed me the waiting area. Within no time at all, another Pharmacy employee was ready to administer the two immunizations in a seated, enclosed, private area. Again, this was fast and easy. Not to mention FREE! After the quick immunization, I was provided with a print out of the shots administered and a $5 off CVS coupon! Such a win-win scenario for my health and protection against coughers. Sure, there is a difference of opinion about immunizations. For me, I don't want the flu. Also, I view this as being responsible and not spreading the flu. That's being considerate of those around me :)

Shopping in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawai'i…read more.. Irene taught me this smart thing... When you go to Longs, don't buy everything at one time. Buy something small, get a printed receipt, and use the applicable coupons for the rest of your purchases. For example, I went to the Kaimuki Shopping Center location and bought a couple of greeting cards. On my receipt, I had a $2 off coupon... yay! I used it on my very next purchase ... yippee! This Longs seems less crowded than others, even though it's a bit cozier. The cashier in the front was super kind - especially when I asked to use the restroom... it's so convenient... just walk in - there's no code and you don't have to wait for an employee to unlock the door for you... what a relief!

My name is Dr Michael Pasquale , I am licensed physician ( DOS 696) in State of Hawaii and have…read morepracticed for over 30 years. My complaint is with regard to CVS pharmacy endangering a patient by refusing consistently to fill a prescription which I have legally written. This involves three pharmacist who work for CVS on duty at Kahala Mall, Ward Longs and Waialae ave at around 5 pm May 1, 2017 at or around 5 PM. I was asked to write a prescription for a patient for amphetamine salts due to the fact her psychiatrist was inaccessible due to Covid 19 restrictions. This was for short term 3 day supply of this medication. I had spoke with the psychiatrist and the patient who has been treated in my practice, I personally went to the three cvs pharmacies to explain why I was writing this prescription and the circumstances. The patient had run out of the medication and has chronically been on the medication taking it for years. This medication if abruptly stopped can cause : 1. Severe depression with suicidal depression and indeed suicide. 2. Seizures which can lead to death 3. Severe Muscle cramps , digestive problems , headaches , etc. In a nut shell this can cause severe problems in withdrawl and indeed can be deadly for someone who is taking the medication every day for years when abruptly stopped, I attempted to explain this to all the pharmacist who all three told me it was outside my scope of practice to prescribe this medicine. I am a plastic surgeon , who also has a general medical practice and wellness practice. I am medical director of the Ketaine Clinic of Hawaii and have on staff psychologists taken referrals from area psychiatrist for mental health individuals. My experience is extensive. This is all besides the fact that I have an UNLIMITED SCOPE of Practice under the laws of state of Hawai and I am fully trained genial surgeon, plastic surgeon , and critical care trained physician. I trained at New York University and have been on staff at one point in almost every hospital in Hawaii. These three pharmacist kept telling me it was outside my scope of practice since this drug is for ADHD. In fact this drug is used for many other ailments NOT just ADHD such as OCD and depression in some cases, These are off label but is done common enough. I explained to the pharmacist that I did not have a limited scope of practice and I am licensed physician. The pharmacist at ward explained to me that their corporate office was becoming strict about such drugs for liability purposes. I explained that they should consider liability if the patient had a bad outcome because they refused to fill a legally written prescription. Over recent years I have noticed CVS pharmacy has become very difficult and refuse to fill prescriptions for pain r scheduled 2 drugs. Many times assuming the practice of medicine and inserting their opinion not knowing anything about patients. This is severe overreach and indeed can cause patient harm. The DCCA should investigate this incident as well as the general policy of CVS pharmacy due to their essentially practicing medicine and refusing a physicians order of a prescription. This endangers patient care and they are not the state law of Hawaii in defining what my or any other physicians scope of practice is, Scope of practice in Hawaii for physicians is not limited, This should be explained to CVS pharmacy.

I love convenience stores for just one thing- alcoholic beverages and also to see what other goods I can find. The shop is located on 12th Ave/Waialae, look for the bright yellow sign across of Duk Ke/Via Gelato. Tiny little mini mart with just 2 aisle with neatly filled products. The lady owner was very nice and her doggie was so cute! I enjoyed browsing both aisle looking and observing the products. I love the Pringle selections, some new flavors I haven't seen/tried before, ( dill pickle, seven layer dip, & all dressed up) There a nice selection of alcoholic beverages and wine. There all lots of can food, snacks, candies, seeds, ramen, paper goods, cleaning supplies, a tiny freezer near the door for some frozen products and many more. For a mini convenience mart store, the price isn't bad, reasonable. I love that they price the merchandise. What I ended up getting was 2 cans of Waterloo brand ginger twist ( $1.39 ?) I never seen them in ginger flavor, 2 cans of High Noon peach tea ( $2.39) ghost pepper chicken noodle soup (3.99) & the last Mina brand wild caught sardine in olive oil ( $2.99) Those items caught my eyes since I've never seen those ever. My total was fifteen dollars and some change, paid via credit card. A plastic bag was provided- don't think she charged for it. Overall, what a quick and convenient store! I actually enjoyed myself looking around and I would definitely come visit again. I love mom & pop shops that carry the goods, good stuff!
