this is to be my go to pharmacy for the last 20 years, but I haven't seen the last year has really gone downhill. Avoid it whenever possible because of the long lines, the lack of stock and just about everything that I want is locked up. If you can't find anyone with a key to unlock it with her tonight for emergency situation to buy some water and some medicine for a sick person, nearly took a half hour of waiting in line, only two registers are opened, the lady in front of me canceled her order the cashier called for a manager to void the transaction no manager to be found. We waited another 20 minutes, this is not the first time there's a long line or delays, will definitely be the last time I go there. read more

Steve always seems to greet every customer he comes in contact with. Always full of joy, ready and willing to help the customers. I do have to say that he's not the only one, but he always seems to be happy everytime I see him and he makes the effort to ask how my day has been going. I've been in search of masks since the beginning of January. I had a friend in Seattle send me some, but I just couldn't keep asking her to send me more. Yesterday a local friend told me to go to Longs because they'd just gotten a shipment in, plus my son wanted to pick up a video game from Game Stop, so off we went to Longs Kahala. As soon as you enter the store, the masks are located at customer service to the left as you enter. We were only allowed to buy one box (containing 2 masks) per person. Luckily I had my son with me, so we were able to buy 2 boxes. There weren't many people in the store and they have tape marks on the floor to help people social distance while they are in the checkout line. All in all, this trip was worth it because we got our masks, plus Easter candy was all 50% off! read more

Long's Pharmacy Kahala is the worst drug store in terms of service. I needed to have a name brand prescription filled and they refused to do it. I have been going to them for over 20 years and every time I need a refill they tell me that they are unable to get the brand name one. I have told them to keep my info on file so I don't have to explain it all over again every time I order from them but they do not do that. Every time I have to explain then they have to call the drug company, my insurance carrier, and my Dr. before they can get my order filled. This HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! My Dr. prescribes the brand name and all we have to do is use the trial card program which we have been using for over 20 years. Finally this week they told me that Long's no longer is allowed to use that program. Consequently, I called the company that makes the drug and they said that is not true. Long's is an approved pharmacy to dispense the drug under their trial program. BIG LIE!!!!! Apparently, the people at Long's kahala are TOO LAZY to type in the necessary info because I went to another Long's in honolulu about 3 miles away and had no problem having the prescription filled. SHAME ON LONG'S KAHALA. Your customer service is the worst. If I could give you no stars I would! read more

Great location with all the services you need in one location, including passport photos and vaccines are here. So, why the 2 star review? The pharmacy can benefit from hiring either more employees or better trained personnel. I feel bad that the pharmacist is constantly pulled in different directions from patients and assistants who have no clue what they are doing. Some pharmacy techs are not even able to check out customers or simply print out vaccine records without the pharmacists' help. They also often don't have all the prescriptions ready even after I receive a reminder text that they are ready for pickup. I am often asked to wait for 15 minutes for them to be ready, if not on another day. I was suggested that I can call to fill them prior to arrival, so I started doing so. Even then, they often don't have the items they say are ready. Not sure how that is possible lol. People are very nice - just feel bad that they are constantly understaffed and stressed out. read more

Not the first time time but OTC members always have a hard time using their credits at longs. Not marked and very few selections. Even marked OTC items get refused at register. Your friendly neighborhood drug store right here in Kahala Mall. This store has been here literally all of my life and definitely one store my mom relied on for quality goods! This store in particular is one that I like to frequent whenever I'm in the Kahala Mall area in need of drug store and Asian and Hawaii local food and snack items. Before making it out to one of these stores, I use usually check for sales and specials in the Sunday newspaper and Wednesday Mid-week ad, and to make searching even easier and quicker, I've learned to use the cell phone technology in my iPhone by using the Grocery Finds and CVS apps. My older sister worked here as a cashier back when she was a teenager. During my college years, I interviewed for then was called for a job to work here except..sigh..I had already accepted another job elsewhere. Later, my younger son would follow her steps as a stock clerk, and somehow whenever I needed to visit the store, my son just happened to be working so he'd walk up the aisle to say "Hi, mom! :D." That's my cute son :D So see you see, perhaps I am biased with positivity whenever I think of this store :D I throughly like the way the store is set up and organized. Items are arranged neatly on the shelves and it's easy to find things. What's different about this store compared to the others is the two large sections that are separated by a large center aisle right down center of the store that parallels the cashier stations on either side of the store entrances. Sale items from their Sunday sale ads are placed at the ends of each aisle making it so convenient to grab and go if that's only what you have time for. The large center aisle also makes it easy to travel between the two sections and is spacious enough for a little more than two way foot traffic. The items they carry are tailored to popular items the community here likes to buy. So we don't have to go all the way to Chinatown or to the grocery store, they also make it easy to find that flower lei you might need and in recent years stock a limited number of main stay less perishable refrigerated grocery items like onions potatoes carrots and papayas. Most of the store is stocked with goods for personal household needs such as bath and beauty for men and women, health, over the counter medications, kitchen, canned goods, candy and chips snacks of all sorts including local ones like arare iso peanuts puffed rice manju and mochi, car, seasonal ethnic foods and gift items, water soda and juice beverages including alcohol, sports and hiking items, school office greeting cards and gift supplies, in addition to their main reason for existing which is to fill HMSA, non-Kaiser Permanente system doctor and dentist prescriptions. I like it that there's a Longs Drugs CVS right here in this mall and how once I am done shopping, check outs are at either entrances of the store so that I can choose to exit either into the mall or to the parking lot right out front. It's quite a busy parking lot but I do like that the parking is easy to reach right out front. I love this location. Why? The variety of their items. They some how seem to have different items than other longs. I use my cvs app every time I shop to gain rebates, points and rewards. It really does pay off. Today I was shopping for a face product to prevent mask acne and some bleach. While looking at skin care an employee asked if I need help and although I thought it was a ridiculously big ask to find a product with salicylic acid. I mean what was I asking? To read every label. She didn't take more than a minute and found me what I needed. I checked and it was exactly what I needed. It was quick and easy. read more

Ever since Walgreens pharmacies started popping up more throughout Oahu, I noticed they are SO MUCH BETTER than Longs pharmacies. Longs pharmacies used to be timely, efficient, & knowledgeable. However, now, they are a whole new different store. It is no longer my beloved neighborhood Longs. :( I live very close to the Longs at Kahala Mall, thus, I often refill my prescriptions there, but, I am beginning to question whether or not it was a good decision. They take WAAY TOO LONG to fill/refill prescriptions. I do not understand why. Every time I want it filled on the same day, I HAVE to be physically present at the pharmacy since I noticed they do not start fulfilling your prescriptions until you get there. It's ridiculous! Also, they lack attention to detail, which is scary since they are a HUGE retail chain pharmacy and just overall this location services many people. I had my doctor send in a prescription for a controlled substance and make the fill date three days after. I checked my CVS app just to see what my prescription looked like and under "Status" it said "On Hold" with notes. Then, on the day it was supposed to be filled, I checked my CVS app every few hours to check on the status, only, it did not change, so, I called the pharmacy and spoke to someone who apologized and admitted they overlooked that and will fill it ASAP. I did not need it immediately, but, I was appalled by the customer service and the fact that they "OVERLOOKED" it. Anyway, for the next two days, once again, I checked my CVS app and each time, it was "On Hold", so, finally, on the second day, I called AGAIN and inquired about my prescription and I was told the SAME THING as the FIRST TIME! ALSO, they told me that I HAD TO pick it up ON THE SAME DAY because my prescription was about to expire and also I need to hurry up because they close in two hours . I got there within ten minutes of making the call so, of course, my prescription was not ready. I really did not appreciate being rushed when it was THEIR mistake. I understand it is the law and that is not what I have a problem with. My problem is that they lacked to follow through. Why are they taking so long to fill/refill prescriptions?! read more

What's with the low ratings for this Longs Drugs? This neighborhood store has been here as a stand-alone before Kahala Mall was established. It was an original tennant and one of Kahala Mall's anchor stores. If I'm not mistaken, this site is the first Longs Drugs to open in our Hawaiian islands. Perhaps because of this location's age, the complaints may be valid as mulltiple renovations or remodeling have occurred over the past years. Since CVS purchased the Longs Drugs chain, they have been steadily upgrading all of the stores. Most notably, CVS retained the Longs Drugs name since this chainstore has been "ingrained" into the local scene. CVS has spent a lot of time and money to upgrade this aging store to get into the 21st Century while not "intimidating" the public with a so-called Mainland take-over. Yes, there have been many personnel changes and often there have been times when there aren't enough cashiers to manage the crowd but, the managers seem to be ready to jump in to help wherever they can. While growing up in Kaimuki town this store used to be our family's go-to. Their merchandise ranges from your typical drugstore items aimed at improving your life or health, a full pharmacy, local snacks and even special "buys" like Selfie-sticks. We've actually found some automotive or household products that we just "couldn't live without" in here. I continually try to provide CVS / Longs Kahala, the belief that it will get better some day. I think today I give up. Simple task today I wanted 3 things while I was rushing home from work and getting dinner. 1. The item is no longer a product they bring in!? Why not Hawaii Kai and town have it. 2. Other item - empty shelf's and notice of shortages. It was just juice? 3. Only 1 register open and alternative is to ring it up myself. Can't find my 30% off at self check out. Ok I can search for it? Didn't run in for 3 items to search for coupons. This Longs Drugs has definitely seen better days and could use more TLC, but what it lacks in beauty, it makes up for in pure convenience. When everything else is closed in our sleepy, peaceful neighborhood, Longs Drugs keeps the party going 24/7 with a full service pharmacy, $1 snacks galore and let's not forget, a huge drugstore makeup section so you can paint your nails at 2am! Be sure to check the weekly newspaper specials at the entranceway because our parents and grandparents were not wrong in checking that yellow and red circular. Service has really improved since their big changes and my last updated review. I am really happy to have friendly, personal service at this location! It's nice to see and hear cashiers having the aloha I know Hawaii to have. Side note: I like that the selection they have for hair care has grown, especially for curly hair. Granted, I have a specific hair type and there are probably a lot of people out there with curly, coily hair who would like an even bigger selection or perhaps different brands. But, it's one of the wider varieties. Even more than most salons. Maybe people can weigh in on what they like here. read more

Another great experience at this Longs :) I had purchased some Mauna Loa Macadamia nuts from this store for my mom in the mainland. She really enjoys them. Unfortunately, Mauna Loa Macadamia issued a recall after she received my care package. I'm glad I was able to warn my mom. I'm grateful for the customer service from the Manager, Paul, who helped me with a refund. He was thoughtful and I appreciated his excellent customer service. Mahalo! read more

Evil lady checker. Wouldn't give me quarters for change of purchase after just being told from customer service and another employer I could get some. She couldn't even give me a dollar but the other workers said they could give me a whole roll. But not even a dollar. I left. Went and got what I needed at the GAS STATION and they gave me a whole roll of quarters with my purchase even though I just asked them for a dollar or two. That is why they are Aloha Market Kahala and not Longs with mean ladies. thank God for Celeste and the customer lady who apologized and offered help. I would give zero stars if I could. As a senior citizen (66 years old) with health challenges, I was hoping to get the CVS Brand of Brain Health (comparable to Neuriva). I arrived there shortly after 8:30 pm and went to the aisle that had the product I wanted. Of course, it was understandably locked up, so I pressed the customer service button. Five minutes later no one arrived. Ten minutes and still no one, so I pressed the customer service button again. I was getting a bit frustrated so I called Longs Kahala on the phone. I had to go through several prompts to supposedly get to customer service and I get disconnected. I pushed the customer service button one more time and waited a few more minutes. I decided I had enough and I was walking out, I told the cashier at station 1 what transpired. I told her it wasn't her fault, but this was poor customer service and I'm not going back there. read more

I come to this Longs location maybe once every 3 weeks and I personally don't understand the low star-rating. Every time I've come here, I've had a great experience with their customer service, product selection, and overall store cleanliness. There is one gentleman who goes above and beyond to greet and help every customer. I didn't catch his name, but I swear that I've been greeted by him and asked if I needed help every time I've come in. They also have a nice selection of skincare products that I haven't really seen at any of their other locations. The store carries La Roche-Posay, Jouviance, GLAMGLOW, Peter Thomas Roth, dermalogica, Vichy, Clarins, Murad, bareMinerals, and philosophy skincare products. I bought a bottle of wine from Longs the other day, brought it home, opened it and it had turned (gone bad). It was carbonated and nowhere on the label did it list "sparkling," so my thought was to return it, even though it was opened with barely a sip missing. The people at Longs -- including the Manager -- said I could not return it (even for store credit) because it was open. They even went as far as suggesting I give it away. What? Really? The bottom line here is that I walked out without buying any more wine, or anything else. Because of their stingy attitude and lack of aloha over a $9 bottle of wine, they lost my lifelong and frequent business. Furthermore, EVERY other store (Costco, Safeway, Times, etc) will always accept returns for unsatisfactory products, especially when all one wants is store credit. Auwe. read more

I swear I gave this place one star already. Where did my review go? The layout of this longs sucks. It used to be good. Now you have aisles going verticle, aisles going horizontal, islands that are placed obnoxiously in the way that cause traffic jams. It's bad enough that old people walk slow. Now you have them walking slow and lost. With that, a domino effect of chaos occurs... Tourist don't know where to go or where to look. They roam around the store without a mask on. Younger generations become agitated by the elderly and tourists that always get in the way. You want to be nice to eldery and tourist but after all that hassle at Longs no one gives AF about them... It's bad enough the elderly boomers inflated the housing market to a point where nothing is affordable and youth become slaves to their jobs. Only to be criticized later in life as a generations of slackers who can't take care of the elderly. When in actuality they are smarter, carry a heavier demand on how much is required to know in order to succeed in their life time. The younger generation should be happy to help out the older generation and they want to without this inefficiency. However, because of how poorly the traffic flows in longs, they'll just abandon all the old people. Soon, when the elderly pass, all of Longs will be boycotted and everything will be ordered online. Is that what you want Longs Kahala? Is that what you want?! Look at the long game. Change your aisles back! or at least remove those dam islands! And change back to green instead of the red. This review is for the pharmacy only. They are very busy, no one ever answers the phone, I've called later in evening 7p or mid-morning 10am and been on hold for an hour! If they don't answer the phone should just remove their phone number. This location closes at 9p has no drive through pick up. I usually go to Longs in Moilili (2470 S King St) that opens 24 hours with a drive through). Only reason I came here was for an available Minute Clinic appt. Will not come back to this pharmacy again, too bad Walgreen at Kaimuki closed. read more

This is my favorite Longs Drugs on the island for a few reasons .... the cashiers are all friendly, the store is laid out well so it is easy to drive your cart through without too much trouble, the pharmacy is reliable & finally the parking is easy with good sized stalls..... I do recommend going during scool hours to avoid the crowds. And make sure to sign up for a CVS card so you can accumulate points. read more

The Pharmacy called over 10x in 4 days for a prescription I was unable to pick up before a trip abroad. Called them back and told them to stop calling me. Next day received 2 more calls. Called them back again and the girl said she was calling to remind me I had a prescription to pick up. I told her I aint picking it up cuz im transferring all my prescriptions to another Pharmacy. Are they that hungry for business? STOP CALLING (catch the hint or something), especially if its 4am in the time zone we are in! This is my "go-to" longs location, simply because it's the closest, not because its the most convenient. The parking here is horrible at times and you can never just pop in and out here. The selection at this location is fairly large, but not the biggest, and usually if they don't have it, i'll make a special trip out to a larger longs or a specialty store. The service here is pretty helpful though, and most workers know exactly where things are when you ask for it. As for the pharmacy, this location does alright in my book. They haven't really messed up my prescriptions. However, I have spoken with the pharmacists here on a couple occasions, and they really don't know what the heck they are doing. As a health care worker in training, I'd expect the certified pharmacist to be able to tell me things on the fly about my prescriptions or my dosing...but they are unable to do that here. If they're going to have to look it up and make me wait 15 minutes, I might as well look it up myself! read more

I went to Longs yesterday to purchase some items for my elderly mother. The product I was looking for was not on the shelf so I wanted to know if they had any in the back. The cashier was very nice and asked a guy named Randell to help me. When I asked him about the product he roughly answered "what's there is there and if it's not there then we don't have it". He proceeded to walk towards the area where it usually is but I made a 180 and left the store. I didn't want to waste my time with this negative person. Very poor customer service! The product selection was good they had a lot of things to choose from and everything is well organized. Dont bother trying to get a prescription filled in less than two hours in a minimum of three lines. The pharmacy manager will probably give you some lip service that theyre under staffed then also tell you that their insurance sustem is down so you will need to work that out woth yoir insurance provider after you pay full price for your prescription while your child is crying in pain (needing the medicine). The good news is that I get to go back there to wait in line again and get a refund after I spend another hour on the phone with my insurance provider. There must be a better way to spend my time. This Longs sucks. Better off driving to Walgreens. read more

Worst pharmacy ever. Needed a controlled substance that I'm readily prescribed. They kept losing, misplacing, or not receiving the "correct" Rx order. Had do go into withdrawal bc they couldn't correctly fill my script for a substance that is supposed to be closely monitored and controlled. A single chimpanzee would have been more effective and considerate than the 6 pharmacists working. This was on 5/1/20 mid covid crisis; not filling meds that patients need bc of mistakes that they are making behind the counter. Very disappointing. Very concerning. Getting meds elsewhere from here on out. read more

Stood in line at the pharmacy right before workers started cutting people off to stand in line at 7:59 pm. When I got to the counter, there stood a young guy who asked me my confidential information to get my meds. He said my meds were not ready..even though I got the confirmation text that my meds were ready. In the end he just wanted to kill the line because they were closing up for the day. Now I fricken have to make a second trip. CVS Kahala - train your employees to be nicer..even though there shift is almost over. read more

The pharmacy at this location is the worst! I get automated calls saying that my prescription is ready. The lines are always long and, after a long wait, I get a blank look from one of useless people behind the counter: "it's not ready yet". It never fails, it's always the same. They are rude and incompetent, and make absolutely no effort to help. I have complained to the manager but the incompetence seems to come from the top. I wish Yelp had a 'Zero Star option' as this place deserves it..... I went to Longs at 4211 Waialae Ave, Honolulu, HI this morning, 23 Nov 19, to pick up a critical prescription for my wife (the pharmacy had texted her that it was ready for pick-up earlier this AM) . Only 5 persons in front of me; however, that line took 20 minutes for no apparent reason (all customers in front were delayed) with 4 check stands available and only one open. When I finally got to the one and only open check stand, I handed her the last prescription paperwork from Longs that was printed in late Sep '19. After clicking away on the touch screen for several minutes with her extended nails that apparently caused technical difficulty making positive contact, she told me that they have no record of my wife or the refill order who has had prescriptions filled at this pharmacy over the past 15 years. I was then told to go to the prescription drop-off line that had at least 10 people waiting. I kept my cool and left the store immediately and promising myself to never return. BTW, all of my wife's prescriptions have now been transferred to Times Pharmacy (up the block and way more competent!). read more
