This review is about the Pharmacy and the great customer service that I received. Without an appointment, I requested from the Pharmacy "Drop Off" counter, a flu vaccination. See, someone in my office is coughing and she made other coworkers around her sick. I don't want to catch that! The pharmacy clerk kindly asked for my driver's license and pulled up my immunization record in the Minute Clinic system. In no time at all, he found my chart and suggested another immunization in addition to the flu shot. Together, we went over the questions about allergies and reactions to past immunizations. He returned my driver's license to me and showed me the waiting area. Within no time at all, another Pharmacy employee was ready to administer the two immunizations in a seated, enclosed, private area. Again, this was fast and easy. Not to mention FREE! After the quick immunization, I was provided with a print out of the shots administered and a $5 off CVS coupon! Such a win-win scenario for my health and protection against coughers. Sure, there is a difference of opinion about immunizations. For me, I don't want the flu. Also, I view this as being responsible and not spreading the flu. Buy something small, get a printed receipt, and use the applicable coupons for the rest of your purchases. For example, I went to the Kaimuki Shopping Center location and bought a couple of greeting cards. On my receipt, I had a $2 off coupon... yay! I used it on my very next purchase ... yippee! This Longs seems less crowded than others, even though it's a bit cozier. The cashier in the front was super kind - especially when I asked to use the restroom... it's so convenient... just walk in - there's no code and you don't have to wait for an employee to unlock the door for you... what a relief! read more

Photo department: we needed a few photos printed and they turned out great!!! High quality and better than we expected. Easy to submit online and then were ready timely. The OG location... For all our needs was thing Kaimuki Shopping Center location as there's a lot of parking for once was the place we shop every Sunday after view the ads in the Sunday papers. Now we don't live a close to this location and with more newer and larger shops this one feels a bit neglected as it doesn't seem like it got any update for quite some time. I found myself needing something that I didn't have time to find and didn't want to really drive around for the search came here since it was close to an area I was at and yes it will have many items that is needed though must admit the choices is usually the biggest challenge. So grateful for the 24hrs it's open and with parking available just steps from the door the convenience can't be beat and with a lot of basics found here are great I do hope that they do get updated as it's a lovely spot right in town. There's a man (Scott) who works here in the cosmetics section for a few years now. It is a very uncomfortable shopping experience. Bombarding with repeated questions after you say you don't need help. Hovering very close or a few feet behind. Not sure if it's overbearing service or if this is a high shoplifting area? This has happened on a few occasions now. Whether you're looking at nail polish, lipstick, anything that requires you to be in one spot a for more than 30 seconds. It makes me not want to shop here for cosmetics anymore. Probably Amazon or Target from now on. This is very unfortunate because I grew up coming here for many years and would rather shop local when possible.The other employees have always been so nice and helpful. It's Longs Drugs- they've been around forever. This location is convenient, although not stocked up as well as some other locations. I like their pharmacy- they hardly screw up, at least in my experience. Having vaccines available became important during the COVID era and Longs did a nice job of covering this area. Its proximity to parking and other businesses makes it a convenient location. read more

Ever since Longʻs was bought out by CVS, they installed an automated operator system where it is impossible to get to the actual pharmacistʻs counter. So very tired of playing switchboard roulette with all the options, NONE of which will get you to the pharmacy counter. Therefore you MUST leave a message for a call back. Longs Drugs in the Kaimuki Shopping Center is situated on the second level. Parking is easier than on the street level, but it will still be packed on the weekends and at peak hours during the week days. Clip coupons on their proprietary app as well as provide a bar code to scan for loyalty rewards. You are able to view weekly ad specials in the app. Nowadays there are two to three aisles open to pay for your goods - no self-checkout at this location. Store is organized and stocked. Sales make for convenience when you don't want to buy in bulk and one of the big box stores. read more

Now that I'm working in the Kaimuki area, I've been patronizing the businesses near my office. When I need miscellaneous items, my go to stop is Longs located in Kaimuki Shopping Center. I've been here a few times with mixed results. I do appreciate that they're open 24/7 so I can stop by just before heading into the office. You pull up into the parking lot and it's empty, you go in to get your items and check out in a breeze. However, there is one thing that's consistently lacking: customer service. I just stopped by to pick up a card for a friend who I'll be seeing later today. Everything was routine until I entered the store looking for the greeting cards section. Once upon a time it was located on the far east side corner of the store. When I realized it was relocated, I ventured south and glanced at the stationery section with no luck of greeting cards. I snaked between the aisles looking for the greeting cards and after a while with no success, I decided to ask for assistance. I made my way to the cashier area and saw staff at the photo section. The male staff was assisting a female staff who wore a t-shirt uniform with a transaction and the two just kept on talking. I stood there patiently with both male and female staff realizing I was waiting but they just kept on talking. No greetings of "Good morning." nor "I'll be with you in a moment." I didn't appreciate the male staff locked eyes with me and then ignored me. Eventually, I saw another floor staff walking so I approached her instead. She saved the day by navigating me to the north side of the store next to the pharmacy. She was pleasant and I thanked her. Convenient? Yes. Parking? Love it. Customer service? Another day, another stop at a Long's Drugs. Fortunately they are everywhere on the island! Since I was picking up dinner at Red Elephant Thai across the street, this location was super convenient. Located above Times Super Market, you access the store via the top level parking lot. Was searching for Dramamine and walking up and down several aisles, nothing. Losing patience, I asked the pharmacist and even though there was a long line of customers, she took the time to tell me the specific aisle and location. Time saved and much appreciated! While I had difficulty finding the Dramamine, I had no problem finding my favorite Kona coffee shortbread cookies! Or vanilla macadamia coffee! I'm a foodie, what can I say? While this store carries all the usual items, I found this location to be less organized and stocked as the other Longs I visited, and I've been to many. Maybe it was an off day. Located right above the Times Super Market on Waialae, across from Sacred Hearts Academy. Parking is super convenient, entrances on both 4th and 5th avenue. Very helpful staff and well organized! This pharmacy has to be the most dysfunctional and ineptly run business known on the planet. I attempted to have a prescription delivered to my home and used the method of payment already on file, a method I have used in the past without any issue whatsoever. Might I add the the prescription contained Paxlovid, a medication I desperately needed. The method of payment on file was used a total of ten times, each in the amount of $20, a backup form of payment four times, all were declined by my bank. In the meantime the pharmacy made no attempt whatsoever to contact me about these declines, zero, zilch nada. Out of desperation I physically went to the pharmacy to get my meds, it was the only way to get my desperately needed Covid meds and used the credit card that was declined ten times for the purchase, the transaction went without a hitch. The so-called pharma "tech" candid response to my issue was that "it's out of our control" and so forth, he just shrugged his sagging shoulders. I'm convinced the Longs/CVS are solely concerned with profit margins and nothing else, the health, safety and concern of their customers simply does not exist in their business acumen. read more

Longs drugs is evil I tell y'a! You can walk in there for a specific item, then a magic veil shrouds your thinking and you end up walking out with 30 things you never even need and you didn't even get that one specific item! It gets so bad I had to reprogram a friend and told her do you really need all that ?!? and defeatedly she placed half of the items in her basket back on the shelf. Kaimuki longs might be the most comfortable longs of them all because it's not in a mall or right next to a bum filled park. I feel safest at this longs. Zombie count is low here. It's best to go there after business hours, because parking lot gets crowded lunchtime till dinner time. Ooo but now quandary I have to go back because I forgot what I went for, now am I going to actually leave with that item? Or am I going to buy more crap that I just don't need ? The ExtraCare program seems to have changed without ay notice. After years of a weekly coupon emailed directly to my inbox, they abruptly stopped on October 5, 2023 with no explanation and no clear answer to my questions. At this point in time I am very disappointed with the CVS ExtraCare Program. After years (maybe 5-7 years) of getting an emailed coupon offer every Thursday morning they abruptly stopped on October 5, 2023 without any explanation. These emailed coupons offered either a % off (20-40%) an entire full-price single item or a $ amount off a single full priced item or entire purchase. These emails motivated me to look through the weekly flyer and plan my shopping list for basic home goods and groceries, OTC medicines, health and personal needs. These emailed coupons are what separated Longs/CVS from Target, Walgreens, and Walmart. I know it is not just me this is happening to because I hear other shoppers in the stores asking about the missing email coupons and I see the frustration on the clerks faces because all they can say is the stores aren't responsible for those email. Iowa's old to contact the ExtraCare team by email. I've had 3 email exchanges and none of them provided an answer to my question. They only stated a canned response which is not accurate, that the "free coupon offers are personalized based upon your spending habits and not masse offers. Since they are personalized some customers may receive limited offers and at time no offers at all. If you are not receiving email offers you may be receiving more in-store offers through the coupons center and at the register." That is simply FALSE. The coupon offers I received were generic and vague, never item specific. I phoned the ExtraCar team and the person I spoke with had the very same canned response - a well reheared answer but he did tell me to be on the look out for an email with a coupon for 20% off a full-priced item on November 30. When I pressed him for an answer to why the coupons stopped, he replied, "Those are system generated coupons. We are not the ones who send them out. That is the only knowledge we have here". If the program has changes, the very least you can do is admit it and not deny the change. My shopping habits have changed since October 5th. Longs is not my first choice for my needs. This is sad because I feel I had a relationship with some of the regular staff, but the $ is the bottom line. read more

It's been a long exhausting day. Yari (my flabby huggable husband) and I was down to do two errands before going home. Printing photos! ~ We cannot think of a cheaper place to print our photos, so we just decided to come in here since we're around the area. This is our first time in here to print photos and we cannot find one single person to ask assistance for. Pretty annoying and drain your energy even more coz you just want to get things done and nobody is around to assist. So we just sat here trying the best to solve our problem at the moment and took us few minutes to figure it out on how to operate the photo kiosk. ~ After 20-minutes of waiting, came a woman and ask us few things, told us to come back after a minute but never came back. Photos are done printing and the woman never show off. Frustrating! Good thing this man who notice us and came by. He's the one who helped us and process the payment and etc. The guy staff was being helpful and politely attend us. His excellent even though he looks so dang tired. ~ This is just our first experience in this branch. Pretty sure this is not always like this. Some days are bad some days are good. Whaaaaaaaat? I've been coming here since the 80's and I can't believe I've haven't written a review about this Long Drugs in the Kaimuki Shopping Center. I have a soft spot for this locaiton, as I've made a few friends from this store, as well as this location being a very reliable store for having a well stocked sale items (most of the times)! Don't you just hate it when something is on sale, but the store runs out of the item early? Not too long ago they remodel this Longs Drug store, & rearranged the the shelves and item location. It can get confusing if you're not a regular shopper here............I was a bit thrown off when the rearranged the store, but now I'm pretty use to it. The Pharmacy Dept. is pretty busy, and can be slow at times. If you drop off your prescription, they do have a great auto-phone system where they will call you to let you know that your prescription is ready to be picked up, so you don't have to wait there for hours. Parking in the Kaimuki Shopping Center can be challenging at times, especially in the peak hours. I guess since there is Times Supermarket downstairs, bank / credit union, a cookie store, Doctor's / Dentist offices upstairs, and a few restaurants...........it sure gets busy here! Be careful in the parking lot.............it appears a lot of seniors like to go to this shopping center especially in the early morning hours, and at times I see them not to be too attentive when they are driving, or parking in the parking lot. read more

The Kaimuki Longs Drugs store is my go to Longs when I am back home. Though many of the Yelp reviews write that the location is small, I find it to be the right size. The layout has not changed much (if any) in the many years since I first shopped here. Hence, shopping here is a breeze since I know where to find everything by heart. Parking is pretty simple as Kaimuki Shopping Center is a relatively small shopping complex with Longs the main tenant on the top floor. You might have trouble with parking when they have a coupon book sale and you stop by on the first day. But otherwise parking is easy. If you are looking for a Longs that is easy to find what you need, the Kaimuki store is one worth shopping at if you live nearby. read more

This is a pretty decent Longs, I like that it's right above times, so that I can get my groceries and pharmacy items in the same building. I wish that there were more convenient ways to get between Kong's and times, though. I feel like most of the time, I end up driving from one parking lot to the next. Which kind of defeats the purpose of them being in the same building. There's also a cookie corner next to longs.... :) Parking is usually pretty easy. Unless it's like last minute Christmas shopping or something unusual, I'm usually able to find parking easily. The store is on the smaller side I think, but they have everything you need from holiday items to alcohol to pharmacy items. When it's not packed with kids from sacred hearts, the lines move quickly, too. Lol. read more

I've been patient with Longs Drugs, being that I've been going here for years!! I've had occasional "issues" with the pharmacy, but this current problem is still unresolved. I've been taking Invokana for years. To offset the cost, I use a coupon that gives me the medication at no cost to me. I notice that my Invokana is running low, the reminder to refill hasn't popped up on their app, so I call the pharmacy to ask why. I speak to a pharmacy tech about what's going on with my prescription, why it hasn't been refilled and why no one contacted me. I'm put on hold for a bit, she comes back on the phone and says that she can refill it and that it'll be $50. I tell her no, that can't be, I have a coupon and have never paid $50 for this prescription. I tell her to please recheck the cost. She comes back online and says "your coupon isn't working, there's a communication problem with the issuer of the coupon." I ask her "so what do I do now." I'm told "if you want your medication, you'll have to pay $50 for it." I told her "does that make sense to you, that something that was cost free before, now costs $50?" I'm told that "if you want your medication, you'll have to pay the $50." I'm livid at this point, I tell her "so what are you going to do about this? Are you going to correct the problem with the coupon issuer?" I'm told that they'll work on contacting Janssen CarePath and get this sorted out. NOTHING HAPPENS! I go into the store, on my way to work, at 5am to speak to someone. Again I'm told that there's a communication problem with the coupon issuer and that I'll have to pay the $50 for the medication. ITS BEEN A MONTH NOW AND I AM OUT OF THIS MEDICATION COMPLETELY!! I WANT MY PRESCRIPTIONS OUT OF THIS PHARMACY AND WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THE DOOR AGAIN!! I never knew how bad they were, as I've never had problems with them before. Everything has been fine up until now. After reading these reviews, I now know that it's best for me to hightail it to another, more customer oriented establishment. LONGS DRUGS, YOU NEED TO REFOCUS ON CUSTOMER SERVICE!! By the looks of things, being said in these reviews, you guys are doing these kinds of things on a regular basis. CVS CORPORATE WILL HEAR ABOUT THIS!!! I had the best experience at Longs today! After going to my doctors appointment I decided to stop by Longs to buy vitamins and a face cream which my dermatologist friends swears will help me stay young forever. Upon entering the store I found a great buy one get one deal on vitamins and went looking for my face cream. While I walked around I had three different employees tell me good morning. I couldn't find my cream in the acne section and asked a cashier if she knew if they had it in stock. She grabbed a lady in cosmetics who told me they were out of stock but she happily got me a few samples from the stock room. I'm not sure who runs this store, but they're doing a really great job because the positivity and customer service at this Longs is outstanding! Thank you for going above and beyond for me today. Came here for my first vaccination shot.... Had never even been to this part of town before. It's located in a 'mini mall' setting and upstairs. Very clean, as most Longs Drugs are, every employee I passed said "Hello" to me (I kind of like little things like that lol). I scheduled my appointment online, so simple and easy. I arrived about 30 minutes early, not a problem. Waited about 5 minutes before the pharmacist came to inject me (lol). She was very friendly and answered my questions. I was literally in and out. Ever since CVS has taken over our Longs, I've noticed each Longs Drugs store on the island has different store specials. It's fun and irritating at the same time. Fun that it's like a treasure hunt finding the different deals, and it makes you want to immediately go to other Longs nearby to see what deals they have going on. It was a beautiful lilac shade, and I would've loved to get more! There wasn't any others left except that 1 lonely bottle. Hoping I could find that same deal, I went to 2 other Longs nearby. That's when I discovered that each Longs branch has different specials, and they will not honor the same pricing from another store. I'm giving Kaimuki Longs only 3 stars, because I actually prefer the Kahala branch. The Kahala branch has a lot friendlier cashiers in my opinion. I love this Longs and have never had a problem with customer service with cashiers at the front or the pharmacy. Pharmacy always text messages me once prescriptions are ready for pick-up... keeping wait to a minimum. Yup, parking is sometimes a little busy, but it's good for the businesses, and if there is not enough business (ie: no cars in the lot), then Longs closes and leaves. Then what? I am happy and appreciate the fact that this Longs is here and very convenient for me and my family (and a lot of other families here in Kaimuki)! read more

The staff at this Longs/CVS are so friendly and helpful, especially since I'm usually in the store before 6 a.m. They even walk me to the area that has what I'm looking for or check in the back for availability of stock. Great customer service! This store is neat and clean, though I'm not really familiar with the store yet nor gotten used to the layout. But I enjoy shopping here. Woo hoo! read more
