I frequent several Longs Drugs / CVS locations on the Isle. The Manoa location is not as busy as other stores...it is in The ( sleepy ) Valley, after all. Stores are generally well-stocked, clean, and has good to decent customer service - and Manoa is no exception. I picked up an ankle fracture for Christmas...not what I wanted in my stocking. So, I picked up a CVS brand ankle support and compression sleeve. After discounts - from CVS membership/proprietary app - I paid $12+...a deal. A deal...as it was comfortable while providing stabilization for my ankle. Went to Kaiser Moanalua's Orthopedic section and the PA said it was adequate in place of a splint/walking boot. I usually purchase household supplies, personal care products, and snacks from Longs Manoa. Prices are good. CVS brand is often quite good. Only issue with the Manoa locale; no self-checkout kiosks. I have been to numerous Longs Drugs locations in Honolulu. The Manoa Market Place Longs is the worst. Pitiful customer service. I recently went there to by a few things. Old Asian lady cashier scolded me for placing the shopping basket in the wrong spot and starts ordering me on where to put it. No smile, no hello, no personality, no politeness.......just a pure miserable demeanor. She is ugly inside and out. No wonder this store is so empty compared to other Longs Drugs. They should close down this Longs and put in a Walgreens. read more

I'm happy to say that the employees are much better at reaching out to the doctors to inquire about refills and notifying their customers when they're having issues. The staff is also a lot more friendly and will greet you as soon as you enter the line, and ask if you have any questions for the pharmacist, or if there's anything they can help you with. Shopping in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii... Before dinner at Paesano (they will be Closing for good this month on 2-17-24), I had some time and thought that I could get some Scotch tape for my empty dispenser and some Shipping tape to use on boxes to mail to the mainland. Longs Drug Store is very popular in Hawaii because of the weekly sales, Loyalty Program, customer service with Aloha, and clean, safe, organized environment. I also had a Reward that expires at the end of the month that I wanted to use before I forgot about it... After browsing around (looking at cute plushies such as Hello Kitty, Snoopy, and Woodstock that make me happy), wandering through the seasonal items, greeting cards, clearance items, etc., I found the stationary department towards the back of the store. I was disappointed at the customer service at this Longs. When in line and the cashier was taking a while to help the customer in front of me with a problem they were having, I didn't notice that another cashier was open. My cashier or the cashier that was open didn't make the effort to redirect me to the open line (the customer in front of me suggested I should go to the open cashier). Once there, the cashier made a comment about me paying in cash (my total was $2.05) and he wouldn't accept my nickel when I tried to hand it to him (he made me place it on the counter and then he picked it up). I think I go to Longs Drugs store every week religiously, and one of the Longs Drugs locations that I put on my rotation is the Longs Drugs (Manoa Branch) in the Manoa Marketplace Shopping Center. Access to this Longs Drugs location is easy, as it's located at a major shopping mall. Like any of the Longs Drugs on the island, Longs has your run of the mill standard dry goods, drinks, medicine, & limited produce items. Depending on when you come here to shop, like so many businesses where they don't have enough workers, the lines here could get long, as few times when I came here there were only two cashiers, and this Longs Drugs location doesn't have any self checkout stands. This review is for the shift managers, the late night crew ones (sorry don't know anything about the morning crew because I prefer to shop when there are less people around). They are so helpful. Whenever I need a price check for an item, ask if they have more items in the back, or a rain check they are always very friendly and courteous. Located in Manoa Shopping Center, bring your umbrella because passing showers are common. Great little shopping center a little off the beaten path, but usually abundant parking for the same reason. Longs was purchased by CVS some time ago for mainlanders that will ring a more familiar tune. Longs CVS has a pretty standard offering no matter which location you come to, and this is no different. On any particular Sunday or a day I need to come to Manoa, I usually stop by this particular CVS/Longs Drug store for daily necessities. Usually that. On my last visit to the CVS/Longs Drug store in late November 2021, I discovered that this location was administering the Covid-19 vaccine booster. At the time, I just wanted to get it to be ideally protected from the scourge that was the ongoing pandemic. I knew I was traveling out of state later that year, so I wanted to be in shape to get that booster to travel again. This CVS/Longs Drug store location was suitable since it was basically on my walking route from Kaimuki to Manoa, just had to cut thru University of Hawaii - Manoa campus to the Manoa Marketplace shopping center. It was the ideal location for me, since they had the Moderna booster vaccine and didn't want to mix vaccine brands. I decided to stick with Moderna instead of hoping Pfizer would be just as good. For the lost part though, the most recent experience here at the CVS/Longs Drugs was pretty okay. It took about 45 minutes and I opted to take both the Covid-19 vaccine booster and the seasonal flu shot, just because I was there and didn't want to do 2 separate shots at 2 separate times and 2 separate locations. I'm glad they they had offered both at the same time. They also let me choose which arm the Covid-19 booster went and the seasonal flu shot when. It's nice to have some choices. I went with Covid booster on the left shoulder and the flu shot on the right shoulder. The overall experience here at CVS/Longs at Manoa at the time of the CoVId 19 vaccination booster and flu shot combo was typical. I had to register an appointment beforehand on CVS.com. Upon arrival, I checked in at the pharmacy and waited about 10 minutes in the vicinity before getting called for the vaccinations. The entire process took about half hour from start to finish. They advised us to wait about 15 minutes afterwards to see if there was any adverse reactions before heading out. I heeded their advice and left the area, but decided to buy some stuff on the way out that morning before heading home. CVS/longs is one of the main drug store chains in Honolulu. Another one is Walgreens, but I usually know CVS/Longs Drugs since they been around the block the longest. For the most part though, my experience here at this location was nice and typical. While this won't be my last visit, it will be my last one for 2021. The store itself is large enough and stocks the every day items you know and love to purchase. From food items to make up, to personal hygiene items, CVS/Longs has got you covered. They take pride in making everything available and re-orders everything promptly so there's usually no shortage of any products. Prices are competitive here, but you do get some hidden bargains from time to time, which is cool and welcomed in this time of uncertainty. During the pandemic, face masks and social distancing is required. Their pharmacy is good too. This CVS/Longs Drug store is located in the Manoa marketplace shopping center in the heart of Manoa Valley. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, you have a lots of parking options here to get situated in a spot of your choosing. Best bet is to get here early to find your spot, otherwise you may be out of luck and have to park in a non-desirable spot. If you are like me, that's route six is basically the only route you have that will come to this shopping center every day. Although, you can catch city express "A" or route 13 and it will terminate at UH Manoa, so you would have to walk a bunch to get to manoa market Place shopping Center. CVS/longs drug store is definitely a place to spend on a Sunday morning, when you need daily essential items to keep yourself going. Oh my god I have never experienced someone so rude, Derick is so unfriendly, and did not even bother making eye contact with me when I was asking him questions. What has happened to common decency, I guess he hasn't been schooled in the value of good customer service and a little empathy for someone that might be experiencing something very traumatic in there life at the moment . People pick up meds for many different reasons but a lot of times it's for pain and this guy is the worst person to be dealing with when you're feeling bad . He cut me off without me finishing my question, gave a sigh, said "I don't know" very rudely and I was stunned. It was his tone. The customer service at this location has gone downhill. It is 9:15 pm and I am standing in line with one person who has one deodorant stick. No other register is open. For some strange reason it is taking forever to ring up this one item. The cashier and the woman are talking and she proceeds to give her dollar bills and change. The deodorant is on the counter the register is on. Her son comes to the lady in line. A woman is now behind me but she doesn't put her items on the belt she holds them in her hands. The woman in front of me asks the cashier if she can add things. No response no one puts anything else on the belt. Then the cashier slowly rings up the deodorant. Meanwhile the woman behind me goes to the next register when the male manager decides to open the register. He does not put on the light or ask the next person in line, which is me, to be rung up next. He goes to the person who has been standing the least amount of time in line and rings her up. She is even able to reach over and the woman in front of me passes her CVS card for her to use. The cashier still hasn't rung up the deodorant but only after the lady now in the next line has her items rung up. Longs manoa Customer service use to be outstanding, but now it is now terrible. I asked a clerk where to find an item but he said he was busy and walked away. I saw him leaving someone I thought was a customer, but she was a vendor. She called him by name & asked him to help me, but he walked away again. I tried to get a raincheck for the item which was not on the shelf, when i finally found the location is should have been in, but the cashier wouldn't give it to me & called another clerk to check for it. I waited so long that five people behind me were served and when he finally came back with the item. The clerk was going to make me wait at the back of the line, but i had to insist on being taken next. The customers saw me waiting & agreed. I asked to see the manager & it turned out the manager was the clerk who walked away from be twice. He claimed he said to wait (when he really didn't) & never apologized. I have had only good experiences in this longs. Some of the items are locked and so you have to ask for help to get it removed from the rack. When I needed help to get some disposable shavers, I went to the front desk and they called someone to help to remove it from the rack. Service is friendly, and they upgraded their cosmetics section so it looks extra spiffy. Perhaps the ONLY thing is that staff does not regularly circulate the store, seeing if customers need help in the store. still, i've never had a problem here and whenever I do approach someone for help, they've always been on it ! read more

This pharmacy is the worse. Even 1 of the Mgrs. stated they constantly gets complaints on their pharmacy. They NEVER follow thru on complaints and call back as they promise. My doctor called in a prescription after our 3pm appt. yesterday. I checked to see if it was ready because it was suppose to be applied while my husband slept that night. The response was that it would be ready after 7:30pm. They close at 7:30pm. So I requested an earlier time, instead, they added on 3 more hours!!! One of the pharmacist, Derek is super mean, and even 86 a neighbor that was trying to get medication for his dying mother, who has since passed away, no compassion. I was looking for a (seemingly) hard to find sale item, and after going to 2 Longs' stores in town and calling another 6 Longs' stores, only the Manoa branch said that they would be getting the product in that day and to stop by later. I stopped in later in the evening and they apologized for not having the product in stock because of a delivery error, but took down my phone number (they offered) and called me when the product arrived. Do not get the over the counter drugs here that you need a license to buy. Suffering from a horrible cold I stopped by to pick up Aleve D from the pharmacy. The system wasn't able to process my credit card when I went to purchase it so I nicely offered to pay cash. However, by this point they had ran my license through about three times in an attempt to get their system to work (separate from the credit card issue), which has now locked me out of buying any type of license-needed over-the-counter drugs. I was looking for an item that is always in the dry good items in the CVS that is near to my home. So today at a different CVS, I could not find it. While living in Manoa for many years, I enjoyed shopping at both Longs and Safeway, which were conveniently located across each other in the Manoa Marketplace. I, like many other locals, liked shopping for items out of convenience and especially during their weekly sales, and occasional coupon book times. You always try to stick to what was on your list of sale items, but many times ended up throwing in additional non-sale items into your basket or cart from greeting cards and gift wrapping to something from their cosmetics department or pharmacy. I am glad to see that even though they were bought out by CVS approximately five years ago, they were still able to keep their familiar Hawaii household name that the Hawaii locals grew up with. read more

This store has chronic problems with long lines to pay for your purchases. The manager doesn't seem to care, and was rude about it. I would rather not shop here, but it is close to where I work. They seem to actually have a policy of maintaining long wait times, and poor customer service. I guess I now know why it is called "Longs." read more

This was an issue over the phone. I called the store to get a price check on a large bag of ice. We are purchasing bags of ice for an event on campus and need the quotes for budget purposes. It is hard to leave the office so I decided to call. The customer support/sales person was VERY, VERY rude over the phone. I felt as if I was a burden and she seemed very annoyed. Her name is Anna (asked her before she hung up on me). Her last comment to me was...I'm ringing people up and i'm the only one and there is no one on the floor. Then she immediately hung up. My review of Long's Mānoa is specifically for the pharmacy. This is my favorite location of all of the stores in the Longs chain. It is generally quiet and not too busy and I almost always walk directly up to the pharmacy counter without having to wait in line. They seem to be well organized and a couple of the staff are particularly energetic, enthusiastic, and sweet. If I have questions, they dig right into the computer and find out what's going on. I like their iPhone app and appreciate the reminder calls. Hassle free! Thank you for taking good care of me. On the way through the store after finishing at the pharmacy I keep my eyes open for specials and sale items, occasionally finding things of interest. Not all Longs are made the same. They each have their own personality and have different types of people that frequent their aisles. Sometimes, if I really need to find something that I know a Longs Drugs carries, I'll stop at a couple of different ones if I can't find it at one. This Longs is great because a lot of times they have more of something that the other Long's stores run out of. Especially during halloween, the busier longs stores seem to run out of the fun colored hair spray stuff and all of that, but I knew I'd find it here, and I did!! Their makeup selection is smaller than the mo'ili'ili, kahala, and kaimuki longs but they have most of the cleansers and facial stuff on hand. I also like this Longs because it's a bit homier and the staff is friendly too. The location: in the manoa marketplace where safeway is. It's a great location because you can pick up groceries and your household necessities in one shopping trip. Feeling hungry? you can get your kicks at the gourmet plate lunch place Grylt or a healthy subway sandwich or some dessert at this french dessert place I can't remember the name of. I actively avoid this Longs Drugs due to bad past experiences. Today, I happened to be in Manoa marketplace doing other things, and I needed a few things from a drugstore. I thought I would stop in quickly to grab a few items that my father needed. I got those items and proceeded to the checkout lanes. The lines were very long! There were only three lines that were open despite the long lines. Once I got to the front of the line, they abruptly closed the line! Unbelievable! Now only two lines were open. I went over to the photo center to see if there was anyone there who could ring me up but it was vacant. I looked in my basket and decided those few items were not worth waiting in line for likely close to an hour. Considering how busy it was I didn't understand why they did not have more checkout lanes open. Definitely would never come back here again. read more

Whoever answered the phone in pharmacy is super rude. Just called asking about Covid testing since I arrived in town on Tuesday. Fully vaxxed and boosted, took a nasal swab on Saturday before getting on the plane---trying to do the right thing because I care about kamaaina and my own family as well. No symptoms, just would like to know I'm not a carrier. Completely unhelpful and condescending. If I knew where they were giving tests, I wouldn't be calling to ask. I recently visited Long Drugs Manoa and as I left wondered why my bill was so high. I was overcharge by $30+. Eleven of the 12 items in my basket were on sale. After I got home I looked at the sales receipt and found the sale items were charged at the regular price. So I called Longs and explained my finding and was told it was because I didn't show my Extra Care card. At that point I realized I did forget but asked why the cashier didn't ask me for my card. I was told that they don't ask because customs get mad when they are asked for their card. That's pretty hard to believe-most customers would be grateful for the reminder. At other Longs locations, I have never seen a customer get mad after being ask to show their card. If they don't have one they just say they don't have one. I wouldn't be so upset if it was just a matter of a few dollars. Like I said most of my items were on sale. It should have been pretty obvious that I was there for the sale items and would have appreciated being asked for my ECC. In addition to all of this, I wasn't required to sign for a $92.12 credit card purchase. Usually a signature is required for purchases over $25. (A little disturbing) When I called I was advised to bring back all my goods with the receipt to take care of the overcharge. $30+ is a lot of money but not worth the hassle dealing with incompetent employees. I am not going back. In the past I have encountered several disgruntled employees at this location. I have to wonder if there's a problem with management or are the employees at this location simply unhappy or rejects from other Longs locations. read more

I've been shopping at Long's Mānoa for 25+ years and in the last few years, I've noticed the quality of customer service, store cleanliness, and even inventory decline and not really sure why. With regards to inventory, on every one of my most recent trips, I've had to continue my shopping elsewhere, as items on my list are always out of stock. Not sure who is managing purchasing, but empty shelves can't be great for business. With customer service, the once friendly, knowledgeable and personable team working has been replaced by a surly, indifferent and unprofessional one who don't seem to understand hospitality. I currently live in NYC and expect this type of attitude from some people there, but surely not from Home! Most recently, a candy I purchased was tossed at me by their cashier Pua after asking if I could hold it instead of having it packed away in my shopping bag. This was after I watched Pua argue with a grandma about a price of an item - aggressive and unnecessary in both instances.
