I live right across the street from this pharmacy in Waimea, so at this point they've basically become part of my extended healthcare ohana. The ExtraCare system kept booting me out like I was trying to hack the Pentagon, but the staff never acted annoyed. They were patient, kind, and just as frustrated as I was. Today, one of the managers actually took the time to go full FBI forensic analyst on my account and finally fixed it. Honestly, I could go to KTA or Foodland, but I keep coming back because this place still has that small-town village vibe where people know you and genuinely care. The pharmacists have personally called me about medication interactions, helped with refill issues, and even contacted my provider for me when prescriptions got stuck in bureaucratic limbo. The cashiers have also saved me money by pointing out better deals before I checked out, which in this economy deserves a Nobel Peace Prize. Corporate really should invest more into this location because the staff is fantastic. Maybe start with better coolers before the beer reaches "lightly simmered" status. Good people. Honestly if I could give the pharmacy 0 stars I so would. I work in healthcare and have been in various different roles for MANY years and I have never treated a patient the way I get treated every time I go to Longs Pharmacy in Kamuela. YESTERDAY I was told I could pick up my medications today and to give them a call in the morning before I head up and it should be ready by the time I get there. Called and I left a message then got ready and headed up. 5-10 mins away I get a call back saying the pharmacist LILY is working on my medications ok so perfect. I get there and I'm about to turn off my car and I get another call from them stating that I can't pick it up until tomorrow. UM OK... so I go in and go to the consultation window and LILY is beyond rude, mind you I'm not giving any attitude or entitlement vibes at all. SHE spoke down to me like I was her daughter, mind you I have 1 mother and she passed 6 years ago and her name wasn't LILY nor did she look like LILY. Healthcare is not customer service yet you dont need to treat people the way they do. You get looked at like you're an inconvenience. A few people there are awesome and are friendly. But I'm sorry CVS but do better! You're a multimillion dollar company, invest in some extra training on how to NOT treat your patients the way I get treated all the darn time. I'm switching to KTA once I speak to my provider and get the OK to do so. read more

Maybe go here if you need a Band aid or bottled water, but the pharmacy is poor with the worst communication. I understand they don't stock everything, but they should at least stock basic medications. The worst part is their attitude about even trying to fill a prescription. The lady at the drive through told me they didn't have the medicine, but should be able to get it in a couple days. A week later nothing, now the script has expired and I have to go to the dr and start over. I don't expect perfection, but just a smidge of communication or competence would suffice. Longs Kamuela has long way to go. Vikki one of the store employees is an awesome person who helps, has a great attitude, and is more than happy to help anyone. She with her work ethic should be considered for management where she can teach others how to take care of your customers. Like Longs the store itself, but had several bad experiences. Vikki has been a Delightful person to see, and ask questions when looking for answers. She has definitely made a difference in my experiences. read more

The workers here are really nice, and I've heard them put up with some real abuse now and then. Props for the effort to keep the aloha going at work! The pharmacy has long lines. At least they finally put a sign up outside with their hours! Right now the close for lunch around 1-2pish. If you are from the mainland, please don't expect the little local Longs to be able to stock every random RX you may want to fill on vacation. Plan ahead and bring your chronic meds with you! ALL the pharmacy's here have issues getting some meds, and it serves no purpose for you to go on & on about how your CVS in Indiana has no problem getting your stuff. They had everything I needed from Benadryl crème for bug bites to snacks and soda for our beach days. We bought $80 worth of stuff. Including a Birthday card. I had an infection of a surgical wound. Called my doctor on the mainland who called in a prescription to CVS/Long's drug in Waimea. After 1 1/2 hours, I called CVS to see if the prescription was ready but no one ever answered the phone (on hold 30 mins). We drove up to Waimea, about 30 mins away, hoping it would be ready. We got to CVS and the pick up line was 8 people deep. As I approached the end of the line, an employee told me the pharmacy was closing and wouldn't open again until 2pm (it was 1:18pm). We drove around using $6/gallon gas then came back to CVS for the 2pm pharmacy opening. The electricity started flickering on and off several times over the next 5 mins and finally went completely dark at 1:58pm. The pharmacist advised he could not open without electricity. At 2:20pm, the CVS staff asked us to leave the store because the electricity had not come back on and they didn't know when it would be restored. We called CVS in Kona to see if we could get the prescription filled there but since CVS Waimea hadn't filled our prescription yet before the power went out, they had no record of the prescription. We drove over to Foodland's pharmacy in Waimea since it was less than a mile away to see if they had power but it appeared the whole town's electricity is out (street lights, etc). I called the doctor back to have her call in the prescription to the CVS in Kona. We then drove to Kona (one hour away). Took a little bit of sleuthing but finally found CVS Kona. At the pharmacy counter, was told it would be ready in 30 mins. This must be a pharmacy triage tactic. I haven't been to a pharmacy in the past few months where my prescription was ready when I came in. Arrived back at the pharmacy 30 minutes later for the prescription, which after 6 hours of waiting and driving, cost $1.60. This is the second time we have had a medical problem while on the Big Island. The last time we went to Waimea for treatment. The urgent care doctor was belligerent and unfriendly. I would advise avoiding Waimea and go to Kona if you need medical treatment or prescriptions filled. read more

No diff then the majority of CVS's. At home we've switched to Walgreens. Much better service and always have the meds in stock. On vacation in Hawaii, went to have a prescription filled. Was told by the pharmacy that they are understaffed and I would be quicker served going to the local pharmacy. The line for people to pick up meds was at least 20 people long - one person to cash them out. Cvs in general has the worst service for pharmaceutical needs!! Will continue to avoid them as much as possible! They need to hire more then one pharmacist per store! If In Kona go to KTA rather then cvs, literally One minute from each other! read more

I went to pick up a prescription today and asked how many pills were in the bottle. She told me, and I mentioned that I used the medication fairly rarely, so the clerk said she was "going to change the label" and came back after taking HALF the quantity out and then charged me the same amount as she quoted me for the original quantity. The worst Longs store please shut it down. Unable to get not only medications needed for surgery but common medications are on backorder or shortage. Rather than call or check to see if this medication is available at another Longs location in Kona (38miles away) the tech smiled and said she could not call any stores within a 20 mile radius. This is an awful, unhelpful store. Go anywhere but here. I would go to KTA but unfortunately my insurance changed and is no longer accepted there. Definitely mismanaged inventory/buyer. read more

Longs Drugs in Waimea has a drive up pharmacy window and it stays open until 9 PM. the store itself is fairly new and has everything from groceries to gift cards, alcohol and beauty products to chocolate and stationary. very easy parking as well read more

Having to go to the pharmacy many times a month, I can say I know this Longs well. There is a problem with stock occasionally, but that is not the fault of the store staff. Mark the Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager Felicia are very customer service-centric and their employees are some of the best at assisting customers. I have never witnessed an employee being rude. If I were to have any complaint, it would be that some employees chat too much. Even the one employee you would stand a better chance of Mt. Rushmore cracking a smile than her is helpful. If there is one thing that stops me from utilizing a business more than any other, it would be rude employees. Such a quaint place and I'm so glad CVS took over Longs Hawaii! The deals are soooo great especially fo having the mainland prices because everything in Waime is so expensive. On the mainland I usually wouldn't be shopping at CVS for everyday item such as bread, milk, cereal, soups, etc; but the prices are soo competitive especially with sky high prices from the only other 2 places to shop which are KTA and foodland. Also the more You shop the more Coupons and cvs extra bucks you get! If you sign up for their email List, you can get 25-40% off single items, or 10$ off 40$ purchase. Who doesn't like extra savings. The best part of the app is you can manage your coupons on your phone instead on getting that RIDICULOUSLY long receipts. What a waste of paper... lol. This store does in fact exist and I was able to find it. Life saver since I forgot my motion sick meds back in SF and needed to get my prescription filled so I could go swimming with some dolphins. It is really tough to spot from the road since the sign is small and the shop is set fairly far back from the street. It's quite small and their selection of typical drug store items (like sunscreen) is quite limited, but if you need a prescription filled in a pinch at least they are there! read more

I had to wait for a long time to receive my prescription and my doctor called it in and specifically told the pharmacy the number on the pill so I would get the right one. Unfortunately, when I opened the bottle, it was a generic brand that my doctor did not order. I called and spoke to Dennis, the pharmacist, he said that there was none in stock and said if I couldn't take them to toss them in the trash. When I asked him when the ones my doctor ordered would be in stock, he said he didn't know. Very abrupt and not concerned about customer and customer's issues with the product. I do not recommend this pharmacy. Long story short, my husband brought in a prescription from our doctor in Waimea. We filled prescriptions before at this pharmacy. They told us we are not taking any new clients. What? I'm 58 lived in many different cities and states and I never ever heard of this before from a pharmacy yes, we have insurance also the doctor is local in Waimea.
