I am a regular customer here and every staff member is very helpful and kind. I also do shop and deliver orders here. So I was very surprised and upset that the security guard was harassing me when I was trying to finish a phone call I was having in the parking lot. I had about 15 minutes till midnight and planned to go into the store after my very important phone call and that is when she approached my car and was trying to force me to leave and yelled at me that I was loidering. I was parked there specifically after completing a bunch of food deliveries, waiting for my next delivery and possibly a shop and deliver order from that specific store, which happens often. So, I forgot about going into the store, she disrupted my important phone conversation and ruined the ending of it where my friend was praying with me. I drove to the parking lot in the other side of Burger King to finish the phone call and ...SHE FOLLOWED ME TO HARRASS ME MORE! So I was very worked up at that point and I had to end my conversation abruptly, I rolled the window down and put on really loud gospel music because I was feeling very irritated at that point and then I drove away. read more

Never on time. Never helpful. They repeatedly insist they're out of network even when my insurance confirms they're in network. Every visit turns into an argument, a delay, or an overcharge. Further cashier retraining on customer service, with emphasis on refraining from any personal comments, especially with a long check out line for everyone to hear. Christmas Eve 3:48 pm in the vacation rental-plague ship. Two of our party of six intrepid adventurers had full blown Coronavirus and two more were wavering. This pharmacy is entirely staffed by incompetent people who hate their job. Apparently everything is "out of stock" until we show them texts showing that it was filled, but then the story changes to "oops, there was a miscommunication". I needed a blood thinner for clotting after surgery, waited for 3 days until it was in stock, then when I show up, I'm told I need to wait for it to be in stock. This staff is putting people's lives at risk. I'm currently sitting in their drive through, waiting for them to fill a prescription that they told me wasn't in, but actually was. I'm hoping I don't have an embolism while waiting for this team to figure out how to do their job. I'm scared and disgusted. On a positive note, they are very consistent in closing for their lunch breaks. I don't believe I have ever shown up when they weren't closed. read more

The Best store. Me and my husband just moved here in the Big Island and this is the Drug store that we pick up our meds. Very nice store and workers from pharmacies to the grocery employees they have excellent service and outstanding Customer Service. The Manager name Minda always make sure that you are been taking care of. She make sure that you get the item you needed if it's not in the shelf. We needed a hat and some water for our hiking adventure. Long's Drugs was on the way to the park we were headed to so we stopped by to pick up supplies. The aisles were easy to browse through and we found what we needed quickly. Prices were fair compared to similar places on the island. Check out was fast and friendly. read more

The store staff is great, this is the most well stocked Longs I've been to on all the islands. My wife came in with a prescription for a pain medicine. She broke her hand. The doctor at the ER said not to let the pain get out of control. And we went to fill the prescription for pain medicine here, they refused to fill it because it was hand written. After the doctor called them and they were willing to fill it they told us it would be a two hour wait because there were other people ahead of us. In the meantime my wife's pain skyrocketed and got out of control. So they would not triage the people coming in to fill prescriptions. Those in severe pain had to wait like everybody else. Better to go to the small pharmacy just down the road called Pahoa pharmacy. They get five stars. read more

Very nice location on the way to the Volcano or while you are out touring around. They offer a nice selection of souvenir items as well. If you are looking to buy macadamia nuts, stop here!!! This is one of the cheapest places to buy them on the island! I was able to buy a bag of chocolate covered macadamia nuts for under $6! Elsewhere they were almost $20!! Same nuts, same bag. They have a plentiful selection of your regular drugstore items as well. From cosmetics, toiletries, medications, first aid supplies, make up and so on. All of the employees are very friendly. I've been a customer here for over 10 years. Having read complaints about pain meds I can tell you this: the Feds have cracked down on triple scrip drugs. So anyone who writes a scrip (and those who fill them) have to jump thru numerous hoops and wrestle with a new computer system (not user friendly) & copious red tape to help their patients. This is not the fault of the pharmacy. Yes - it is true Longs offers fewer of these much abused drugs. Consumers need to ask the pharmacy in advance if the meds are available. I once had to drive back to Hilo from Pahoa twice in a day when Pahoa didn't carry morphine patches for my husband with stage 4 cancer. Being a proactive consumer will save you a lot of grief... As for other complaints: I've never encountered any disrespect or levels of bad service as described here and trust me I was there repeatedly every month for almost five years. They do suffer from expected supply chain issues, but doesn't everyone? P.S. Carol has always been kind to me! read more

Great pit stop on the way to viewing the lava flows at Volcanoes National Park. Parking is available in the lot out front. Plenty of spots. One thing of note - like many other local places, they sell Mauna Loa products for less than what you'd pay at the tourist trap itself. Buy here and save yourself a few bucks. If you ever need a pre covid testing for your travel, DO NOT SELECT THIS LOCATION EVER! The staff doesn't know what they are dealing with. All they say is it takes up to 4 days to get your result although we stress on the fact that we need it within 72 hours. The website says it takes up to 2 days. They don't know when your specimen is picked up or where it is headed to. They gave us a phone# of a lab that they BELIEVE that it conducts the testing but the lab said "No, we don't work with CVS." when we called. read more

I love the Longs in Pahoa and since we live nearby it's been a blessing. I will say one thing and that is each time my husband or I have shopped and been checked out by cashier Donna it's been unpleasant. This cashier needs to adjust her attitude, smile, and not act like she's the one doing us a favor. When I went to use a Longs coupon she kept pulling in wrong phone number and I think she thought I found the receipt on the floor or something. After 4 times she finally got it right! By far the worst customer service ever. The lines were backed up and we get pulled to a register they were going to open . Register was not even powered up. So then they pull us to their electronic department counter. I have a full wagon and another customer tells the cashier i only have a bag of ice and she takes them. I look and see the line I was in previously is down . I pull my wagon over to another lane to get rung up. We unload and pack our own merchandise . I have a 1 for the cashier who very nice. this is the worse pharmacy I have ever dealt with, both as a physician and a patient. Service is poor; they take advantage of being the only one in town to be indifferent to customer service. They don't stock common drugs, and won't check with other Longs when they are out, they have told me my prescriptions would be available when they are not (3 times!), they have hassled me about my credentials - long after they started filling my prescriptions.
