Unfortunately, I had a little issue and forgot to pack extra of my medication for my trip here to the Big Island. I Needed to get more and I needed to get it NOW. It was Friday and I needed to get it for the NEXT day's dose. I called my doctor and they sent the prescription. I called my insurance company and they approved it. The two pharmacies near my airb&b didn't have it in stock. To make a long story short, the Pharmacist(s) at this location spent quite a bit of time and effort calling the doctor's office and the insurance company and getting all the ducks in a row so I could get my medication as necessary. They had to get an override from the insurance company in order to dispense more of my meds before the next authorized refill. It took a little bit of time, but as I was hiking the trek to Akaka Falls, I got the call and it all was approved and arranged. My prescription was going to be ready in 30 Minutes. So often people are quick to put bad reviews up, but you don't always see the ones where they really work hard to make sure the person gets what they need and in a prompt manner. Thank you VERY much to the CVS Team! Oh- and CVS bought Long's - So the sign says Long's - But it's a CVS. and that caused me a little confusion in the beginning. But it's all clear now. read more

I'm often disappointed by this location, but when there is actually a person at the pharmacy desk, they are usually pretty personable and they seem to fill prescriptions reasonably quickly. I wish the hours were posted more prominently though. I have been to this location twice (it's our neighborhood spot) expecting to pick up prescriptions only to find out that their posted hours (online) don't match their actual hours. read more

My boyfriend bought a $200 Amazon Gift Card at this CVS/Longs Drug and gave it to me for Christmas. This and some wine is his go to for my Christmas gift. You grab the gift card off the rack and when you check out the clerk activates it for whatever amount you choose and you pay. When I opened the cardboard sleeve and tried to scan the code, it wouldn't work. On further examination it appeared that the last digit of the code had been scratched off! When I contacted Amazon to have the $200 applied to my Amazon account, they looked it up by the bar code, not the activation code, and I was told the card had already been redeemed and the balance remaining was zero! I explained to them that neither I nor my boyfriend had redeemed it(he uses my Amazon account), and the Amazon rep said he could see who had redeemed it, but could not share that info and we needed to contact the store where it was purchased. My boyfriend had the receipt and contacted the CVS/Longs in Kea'au. They said they would look into it, that this problem had been "going around". After numerous contacts, they told him this week that there was nothing they could do! They have security cameras, they could either check the footage for the camera covering the gift card rack, or they could start an investigation and contact Amazon, who could probably tell them what Amazon account it was credited to, but they pretty much said they could do nothing! I contacted Amazon again, they tried to convince me they could not access info about who redeemed the card! REALLY? The lesson here is that you should never buy a gift card at this store! They have been useless and my boyfriend is out $200. I will never shop this store again and I will never buy a gift card at a store again. read more

I love longs! I love this location, Keaau. for some reason there are a lot of Longs on this side of the island, Keaau stands out as da best, I go to all of them. It is the newest. Customer Service is always, I mean always a good experience, they are smart and friendly. Store reps like Donna and Lois always are working their hardest to make sure your experience is a good one. Staying on top of coupons and sales is a good idea. Since they opened I am in there at least twice a week. They have managed to work out early kinks of selling out of sale items or not carrying some advertised sale items at all. When you see management, you know they are top of things, as well. Please don't send a disabled Vet to the damn pharmacy repeatedly. Just get all her prescriptions together at the same time and notify her then. 3 to 4 visits a month is unnecessary. And expensive and time consuming from our end. It's a logistic concern as we have no car, and she has five lines of duty two of which are in the knees. And your forcing her to walk about 16 miles more than needed. So you fix the staggered delivery of prescription medications to your pharmacy, and learn to notify her when ALL of them are available for pickup. And we will work on a damn car. Which would still be $24.00 in unnecessary fuel expenditure on our end if there's 3 to 4 trips to your location each month. We want it down to 1, maybe 2. We dont impulse purchase junk food when we're pissed about losing half a day and 4 bucks on the bus. read more

I'm giving one star because I can't go any lower, the people are unfriendly and unprofessional especially the pharmacy. Half the time they don't have my medication and you can't get auto refill because there system can't handle a 16 day supply, I have to run out before I can get my new meds. The pharmacy staff did an excellent job in going thru my drug record and found one that was prescribed by my doctor which was in conflict with the blood thinner that I was taking, and did have a reaction. The pharmacy staff seems annoyed by questions and are not eager to help. I prefer Pahoa. I like the friendly, helpful staff there.

Clyde went over and beyond good customer service today. Just over the phone he was pleasant, courteous, and highly professional. He was able to answer my questions and help to get my prescription taken care of without more work on my part than I needed to do having been so ill. I tried contacting other Longs in Hilo and did not get the assistance I needed; just their phone etiquette was less than pleasant and especially not appreciated. Longs needs more employees like Clyde, especially in the pharmacy departments where customers are already dealing with the struggles of health issues. It shouldn't be a challenge to get prescriptions filled. read more
