I truly loved this place when we visited is Spokane. My daughter brought us here and educated us on the process of writing the carousel. Yes, those are processed. It's not just a carousel. There is a team member that stands on a platform and refills a mechanism that sticks out close to the carousel so that his arms linked to the carousel. At the end of the mechanism there is a ring that you need to grab. The carousel will spin around and on the other side there is a stand in which you can throw the ring into and try to get it within one of the holes. It was so much fun. Try new aim while stay on the carousel. The ride was very inexpensive for all four of us. There is a gift shop in the same building that you can buy Spokane gifts at and also get some goat food. IYKYK. The carousel sits next to a lake and is located near a tower. If you're in town stop by and try to get the rings into holes. read more

The carousel has been a favorite of mine from the time I was big enough to ride it. It's changed homes a few times since then and the newest one is very nice and roomy. I do wish that it was a bit more open air though so that you could hear it from outside the building. If you are visiting town it should be on your must-do list. read more

I went to this place for a private event. As a theme park nerd, especially one from California, this is one of the best preserved carousels. This carousel has been around since the 1900's. I've seen my share of historical carousels around California, and this has the look and brilliance of its heyday. Also, the ride is much like the classic carousels of the time; riders can catch a ring and toss it in the Garbage Goat. My short arms were too tiny to make the reach but I was successfully able to catch one! The carousel is also faster than your theme park carousel too adding to the timing of catching the ring and tossing it! Otherwise, it's a cute tourist spot to check out! One of the coolest things to do in Spokane. Riverfront Park is a happening place to come to. They've made huge updates to the carousel area and our only complaint is that they no longer play the music on the actual carousel anymore probably due to preservation but it just sounds different. The kids can ride some that can't go up and down which is nice when they're freaking out. read more

Came here on a Sunday with my two nephews. I am super Duper excited that my younger nephew is now tall enough to ride on the carousel by himself. I was able to help with him up to put him on the horses. Of course he picked the tallest horses every single time which meant I got a good workout in because we bought the passes where are you can go on as many times as you want they went on at least 10 times. The people who work here are super Duper nice and I really really really like them. They were pleasant every time we got on and off all the carousel. I'm grateful Spokane has this downtown because it is a great spot to bring my nephews and they love it so so much. This time they also have a new/old elephant that cost $.10 to ride and my one nephew probably wrote that 3 to 4 times. He thought it was super cool. I plan to be here every time I am visiting and they also have a AAA discount which makes it a little more affordable too. What's better than a carousel next to a picturesque park next to a river? One where it only cost two dollars to ride! This carousel is a lovely addition to the park at all the family related activities that are available. It's got a great little view on to the river, and easy access to downtown. As previously stated, it's only two dollars to ride and while that pencils out to $120 or so per hour, it's definitely worth the joy on a three-year-old's face when he gets to ride on top of a giraffe that goes up-and-down while also in a circle! Just outside is The river walk, a number of bridges and an area with a water feature under which the kids can play. Read opportunity to do a carousel and then go run around outside! This whole area is a super cool spot and definitely a place we will be back to. read more

Easily the best carousel myself and my family has ridden! At $2.50 per ride or $5.50 for unlimited, it's almost a no brainer if you plan on riding more that twice to go for unlimited as you can go explore the park and come back for more fun. The carousel runs pretty fast - the lights and sounds are exciting and the floor to ceiling windows that out look to the outside makes a great view as you go round and round. My favorite part is there is also a game while playing - once the carousel gets up to speed there is an arm that comes down on one side that spits out little plastic rings, as you spin to it, you can lean out and grab it with your hand/finger and on the other side of the run is a canvas wall that you can toss the ring into as a fun little game to keep everyone engaged and laughing. Really a great treat and i wish every carousel had it! read more

Beware of rude incompetent teenagers "running" the carousel. Visit the carousels in Missoula, Helena and Butte, Montana to know how to run a carousel. Parents should have the right to stand by their child, one who is under 42 inches tall as the rules clearly states at the entrance gate, without being charged. New managers and new staff are needed here. Bought two day passes. One for my daughter and one for an adult. We were trading the one day pass between myself and husband. Some dippy teenager didn't like that, said we couldn't share the pass. I just laughed in her face, she got angry and started yapping about the rules. I told her to move on, and to go read the sign at the entrance for a refresher. We left after 3 rides after buying 2 day passes. Not worth the BS. read more

Not gonna lie, my bestie and I rode on the Looff Carousel while in Spokane and it made for a fun and memorable time, even for us, 30-year olds. Located in Riverfront Park, near the entrance, it's easy to spot and access. Even if you're an adult and all, Looff Carousel is something to appreciate. It's a vintage carousel that's still in operation, which should be enough of a reason for you to check it out, as it was built in the early 1900's. And the price to ride the carousel is about $2.50! Be a kid again and ride this carousel. It'll be two minutes of your time. I recommend riding one of the horses, which goes up and down while the carousel spins. It's of course, family-friendly. There were straps that you use to adjust yourself for the ride, kind of like a seatbelt. And the staff makes sure you put on your strap before operating the carousel. At the front desk where you buy admission tickets, there were some small gift items; and down the hall of the building the carousel is in is an actual souvenir/gift shop. My review will be based off my experience with my event I had at the Carousel, with Lancer Catering. I was told by workers that Lancer Catering runs all the events at the Carousel and ice rink, etc. The Historical Looff Carousel of course is as beautiful as ever. It truly is a treasure in Spokane, but I digress. I held my son's 3 year old birthday there back on September 26th. I emailed a month in advance, then called, then showed up in person before I could even find a worker to help me. That ended up being a dead end. So I pulled up Riverfront Park's directory and started calling everyone on that list until I spoke with the director and he personally booked my event and I was so appreciative! Then, two weeks before said event, I get a call from Mark in Lancer Catering, to tell me we can't do the event. I told him that was unacceptable because I had already mailed the invitations. He then said he made a mistake and yes, we could still have the birthday party. (And Mark, I know I said I wouldn't mention it and forget it even happened that you called and almost ruined the whole birthday party, but it's too late for that now. It's not you, it's me and I hope we can still be friends) This event room was super expensive. You can look up the prices online. Food was even more expensive, which I did order a lot of. They brought out the pizza before the party even started so it was stone cold by the time everyone ate. They never asked when I wanted the food brought out. But that's not what bothered me. What bothered me was the fact that the room I rented was TRASHED. Old decorations, crumbs on the floor and tables, a mystery liquid on the floor in the corner and the garbage cans were full. I went out to the desk to ask for trash bags and the lady refused saying that she was going to, but she never communicated that with me in the first place, so she came off pretty rude. At this point I was upset and I told her about how messy and dirty the room was even though I didn't arrive any earlier than I was supposed to. She eventually came back to the event room and apologized and said she spoke with her supervisor and they agreed to refund me $100 for the trouble. I obliged. Fast forward to now, 3 months later. 2 months ago I emailed that same Mark R. Twice before he responded saying he would be right on that. When I went to respond, I noticed he had forwarded my email to another person named Jennifer P. I emailed her twice as well, into November even asking about my refund of $100 and I have STILL NOT RECEIVED the $100. Well ladies and gents, December is about to be over and I have no idea what else to do to rectify the situation or come to a solution with the horrible overall experience I had. I hope if anyone else books their kids birthdays here at least reads this as a warning of what might happen to you. read more

Located in Riverfront Park, this antique carousel is truly a gem. Built in 1909, it is one of the very few carousels I've encountered in the present day that still has the "brass ring" feature intact: there is an arm that randomly and sporadically bends down toward the moving carousel that contains multi-colored rings - and occasionally a real brass ring. One has to seriously pivot off one's horse's saddle and reach high to obtain the ring, and those who obtain the brass ring win a free ride! (In days of yore, the person who got the brass ring may have won some more substantial prize, and hence was borne the expression about reaching for the brass ring). This feature is so seldomly seen anymore, one can imagine how big a hit it is with folks of all ages! Every time my family visits Spokane, we visit the carousel, and this past weekend, I joined my daughters for a ride (I figured, since it was the day of the Kentucky Derby, surely I could marke the occasion with a ride on a fine carousel steed!). I was in no way able to reach the arm with the plastic rings, but my youngest grabbed 6 or 7 plastic rings (alas, no brass ones for her! Still, the plastic ones make for a nice souvenir). Note that each ride for each rider costs $2 and the wall-mounted ticket machines accept cash only; if you have credit or debit cards, you need to see a teller at the counter. Also, there are a lot of cute souvenirs you can get here, such as Spokane pennies, and there is a concession area as well for snacks and beverages. Fun for the whole family! read more

Super fun thing to do with anyone of any age! We went in Summer of 2019 and it was $2.50 for one ride or it is $5.50 for unlimited rides. It has beautiful horses and a couple of other fun animals as well. There are a couple places to sit on a bench while going around on the carousel. It also has some animals that do not go up and down. When the carousel goes full speed they put a metal thing out near the operators stand that has rings in it. If your animal is on the outer most part of the carousel you can reach out and grab a ring and then throw it in the mouth of a goat. If the ring you grab happens to be the gold ring then you get a free ride! Lots of fun for all! read more

One of a diminishing number of Gen-U-Ine Olde Timey carousels left in operation. I'm no enthusiast, but I appreciate that there are people who respect craftsmanship and tradition in these spinny things. It's $2 for a single ride or $5 for an all day pass. If you've got little ones and you're around for awhile it's a no brainer. Apparently it doesn't play its own music. This was somewhat disappointing to my dad which is the only reason I mention it. It does play legit carousel music though which is what you'd expect. There's also a ring grabby arm. I'm not familiar with this ritual but people seemed to have a lot of fun with it. read more

We looked on the website, saw they welder open until 5pm and showed up at 4:40 and they wouldn't let us take a ride because they had already closed it for a private event. Recently renovated trail, merry go round and new seating area are amazing, very good river view with lot of ducks (which my kid like a lot). The only thing I didn't like is they are charging fee for Parent standing with their kid on the Merry go round, where as at other places it is free. Rotating fountain is very nice and amusing for kids. Overall it turns out to be a very nice and peaceful fun place for families and friends. read more

We had a birthday party for our daughter at the Carousel this year. We've had parties at multiple venues in town and were surprised at the vastly different experience we had here. The only time staff reached out to us prior to the event was to collect payment. The event planner was not friendly nor helpful. I struggled to get ahold of anyone the day before the party to confirm details. When I finally got a hold of someone, we were surprised to find out we weren't allowed to bring outside food/drink in (which is funny since they provide plastic ware). They want you to buy the more expensive package which includes pizza (something we couldn't do with diet restrictions). We were also told we didn't have access to a knife to cut a cake because we only bought the $197 package. Call me crazy- but having people cart in and out knives to the Carousel seems like a bad plan. We were greeted with friendly staff when we arrived but the actual birthday planner decided to come in and tell me she needed to collect the rest of our payment in the middle of opening gifts. The lack of courtesy and awareness was shocking and highlighted the focus was on revenue only. The venue was so packed the kids could only ride twice in 90 min. They weren't allowed a special ride. I decided to share my experience with management and received callbacks much later than promised and was given a consolation of $15 in Carousel passes. There are great kids venues all over Spokane- I suggest you party plan somewhere else! read more
