I had three appointments with Lorena, the owner of the Salon. She did my hair color and a cut. One…read moreweek after my first visit, the color had washed out and the grey roots were clearly visible. To be fair, she got me in right away an recolored it, thankfully, because it looked terrible. After my second visit, the color lasted for two weeks but had to be corrected again. The roots didn't turn as grey, but my hair went from brown to copper red. Lorena was able to fix it within a couple of days, so I tried again. I hoped by then, she would do a better job. Unfortunately, that third appointment was not a good decision: so much of the color washed out, my grandson asked me if I had dyed my hair blond. This is not a problem I have ever had in the past, so don't understand why Lorena couldn't get it right. I finally gave up and switched to another hair stylist at a different salon. My color has been perfect ever since.

My oldest (adult) son has sensory issues and is very anxious when it comes to haircuts. Heather was great with him, as well as my teenage son. I had her cut my hair as well and was happy with the results. Not only are her haircuts very affordable in comparison with other barbers and salons in the area, she is pleasant to talk to and can usually fit the 3 of us into one or 2 time slots, making scheduling haircuts very convenient since my kids don't drive and I work full time. She gave me a beautiful Bob cut and a straightening treatment in June. It is now nearly January and I am still so happy with the results. I originally had difficulty with styling until I purchased a blower brush and can style with one hand. Wendy did a wonderful job and I continue to be thrilled. Razor cutting has never caused frizziness in my hair, in addtion, that is what product is for. My hair is naturally wavy NOT curly? I appreciate Julie not assuming but she didn't even ask or inform me in any way that there would be an extra charge to "finish" the look? This is so far the ONLY salon in my life that I have come across that charges to flat iron??WTF? That to me is ludicrous. To be honest, had I been told that over the phone I would have laughed and never booked an appointment. I followed Julie from a previous salon and I was not charged for a flat iron, or I wasn't informed I was being charged for one. Unsure. 3. We spoke nothing of the difference in texture and if you had, informed me we couldn't do that because of my texture. I would have left on the spot. Ive had edgy cuts w/o problem (picture posted). So a stylist telling me that, informs me of her skill level. I'm sorry, but the cut I walked out with wasn't even close to the picture. 4. I did ask her to adjust and she cut into it but no difference was being made. I NEVER once said I loved it. She asked what I thought and I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. What could I do? Yell? Cry? In a salon full of clients. It's not like she could undo what she had done. When I got in the car I honestly wanted to cry. I spent one year letting my hair grow out and was beyond disappointed. I just felt deflated. I thought CT would be fresh and edgy being so close to NYC, Boston.. but it's not. There was better cutting talent in the SW. CT has been nothing but disappointing in regard to salon talent. However, I do now understand why so many salons in the SW are departmentalized (one dept does color and one dept does cut). It's because they recognize that someone that may be amazing at color may not be as strong in cutting. Finding one person that excels in both is a rare rare find.

I also requested in the appointment for my hair to be blow-dried straight for an additional 25$. She seemingly acted friendly and gave me a relatively decent haircut, although she did not spend the time required to blow-dry my hair properly and left several segments POORLY straightened which I had to point out to her when she "finished" and I requested that she flat irons through some of those sections or otherwise my hair would not remain straight. She did a little bit of flat ironing and told me she doesn't have the time for this because of her next appointment I should just flat iron it myself at home. She did NOT SEEM INVESTED in my satisfaction as a new client or genuinely concerned about having a good final outcome. I understand that she had another appointment scheduled immediately after me and was starting to run late, but it is very common for people to wait a little bit in a salon for their turn. It is VERY POOR BUSINESS MANGEMENT and BAD ETIQUETTE to book appointments so close to each other that SHE RUSHES her clients out. When it was time to pay, she requested 30$ for straightening my hair, so I handed over 40$ and she did not give me my change back until I asked for it. It was a bit awkward to presume a 10$ tip, although I did end up leaving 5$. When I expressed my DISATISFACTION about being rushed out of my appointment and my hair not being straightened correctly she responded by telling me that she did not want to be late for her other appointments and next time to request more time when booking because my hair is long and curl. She left me with the impression that she had spent enough time on me for the money she was getting. It was also EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL of her to mention that she only receives 12.50$ from groupon, this is not information that concerns a customer who paid a 25$ value. She should have been smarter about building a steady cliental and using groupon as a strategy to attract new clients instead of COMPLAINING about the value she receives from them. When I left the salon but was still within earshot, getting my coat from the closet by the door, I heard her and the other women in the salon laughing at me. This is very IMMATURE BEHAVIOR, which only reflects poorly on their character and the establishment as a whole. I had a bad first experience with her not because she lacks the skills to do a good job on your hair but due to her business management and treatment of a potential new client.
