I came to this salon because they advertised curly cuts. In my mind, I made an assumption that if a salon is advertising curly cuts that means that they have formal training with DevaCut or Rezo. Or really any other formal training that's offered for curly hair. I spent the last 3 months keeping my hair curly for the first time in my life and avoiding heat only to throw it all down the drain. I left with a really boxy looking cut it wasn't round. I also had to ask to cut the back more because it was really long and looking like a mullet. I'm assuming looking back that she was trying to style my hair like her other clients who have looser curls and want a different look than I did. Every curly cut is different, that's why formal training is needed. Long story short my hair looked bad curly, my family kept telling me it doesn't look like me. I straightened my hair for the first time in 3 months to see if it looked better that way and it looked even worse. It was long and stringy. Some long pieces and some short pieces. The hair underneath my head was very short and one side of my head had longer layers. From the photos you can see there's a patch of hair missing from the back. I had to go on vacation and get an emergency cut from my regular stylist who doesn't do curly cuts but she's a life saver. Unfortunately because of the really short hair underneath and how uneven it was she had to cut all my length just so my hair could be even. So sadly Ive spend the last 2 weeks thinking about what the hell Im going to do to my hair so I don't feel ugly while it grows out. Ive never felt like this before. My best advice, please please please verify that you're getting a curly cut with someone who has formal training. Ask for it. I'm honestly gutted over this. Paid $200 for the cut, plus the cost of my emergency cut. Note: They offered to fix it but I did not feel comfortable with it after I realized how bad it looked and the lack of formal training. They considered but didn't confirm a refund for 30 minutes of their time. I felt they were more defensive about it than anything else. I'm the one with the messed up hair...

Mariann called me back and the we were able to text back and forth- on a Friday night which was definitely appreciated. She listened to my situation and gave me different options as well as photos. I went in the salon and was thrilled that Mariann actually listened to my goals for my hair ( low maintenance, easy to air dry) and then gave me different options throughout the appointment. She not9 only listened but spent time looking at my hair and explaining her thoughts to me. My hair has just started to curl and she helped me learn how to wash and style my hair to rock the curls instead of hide them. Mariann was able to help me with a great cut that took out some of the thickness that drives me crazy. She also colored my hair to help me lose the harsh blonde highlights and I am so happy with how it turned out! It was my first visit to Oggi, and I will definitely be returning. I have long thick wavy hair which can be intimidating, but Nikki got straight down to business assessing my needs, looking at photos, and making some genius suggestions for my new style. She was extremely professional, friendly, and efficient. She made me feel welcome, but also focused on the job at hand, which I appreciated. The interior of the salon itself isn't that memorable, apart from the separate coat room which is a plus. (The receptionist will instruct you to hang your coat and select a frock to adorn during your session - a nice touch in the winter when you're wearing a zillion layers!) There's lot of parking available in the back. And the salon is right next to Starbucks - great location for caffeinoids like myself. The cut itself is what impressed me the most. My stylist was Marie, who was so sweet and listened to all of my wishes and concerns about my wedding day look. She seriously is a hair magician- my hair is not easy to work with (very fine, slippery, but a LOT of hair), and she totally crushed it.
