Great experience and a fantastic place to shop! Super friendly staff and a very organized store. The bolts of fabric are sorted out by color, and a lot of choices within each color. I brought in a paint sample to find a matching fabric and had narrowed it down to 3 choices. I asked one of the employees - Anita - if she would help me in deciding the best choice for my needs. She actually suggested something in one of the sample books, which meant it needed to be ordered, and I completely agreed with her - it was a perfect match to the color I was searching for. We are upholstering a couch and we came here to figure out what kind of fabric we would like for the couch and throw pillows. Everything here is super discounted, but we could not find any flaws in the fabric. They also have a huge selection and will allow you to check out a ream of fabric to see how it looks in your home before you commit to it. That's pretty cool. The ladies here all seem to know what they are doing and give great tips. I just feel bad because when I went they seemed very understaffed. I don't think they were expecting it to be so busy! Huge (overwhelming) selection of drapery and upholstery fabrics at great prices. If you are dissatisfied with the standard choices for window coverings, this is your place. Find exactly the fabric you want, order the draperies your want to spec. Also: recovering dining chair seats is way easier than you think. Pick some fabric. Buy a staple gun. Set aside an evening. Voila. Same with decorative throw pillows. And Loomcraft sells pillow fills in more sizes and for far less than other crafting stores -- fiber or down. I wouldn't dream of ever buying a pre-made pillow again. read more

Love this place. I had called before I went to make sure they were open and such with Covid. I also wanted to ask if they sold remnant sized pieces as I only need pieces about 17" x 13" for a project. The lady on the phone shared their clearance room and explained it is hit or miss. So today, needed some daylight and a change of scenery. Did a few other quick drop ins and ended our day here. Greeted warmly at the door and allowed to browse. The remnants were sparse, but i did find a few. I brought them to the counter and asked how they are priced and they loaned me a measure to check width on one awkward piece. The clerk reviewed the tags and repriced a few as they were mis-marked, and the adjustments worked to my benefit. One scrappy piece was marked $8 and after the adjustment, my purchase of about 3 yards total came to $12 with tax! I've shopped here several times over the years and I will be back. Oh, and if you are looking for upholstery material choose here over the big box craft stores. You have a MUCH larger selection, at amazing prices, with consistently reliable and courteous staff. read more

I've had a love affair with Loomcraft for years. I discovered this place forever ago when I lived in Chicago (and so did they). A fantastic resource for discounted upholstery and designer fabrics, this is a place I trust for quality fabrics, professional advice for my sewing projects, and some great deals...especially in the back room. Wall to wall and row to row, the selection will keep you shopping for longer than you might have expected. On my recent trip I discovered an entire section dedicated to durable waterproof fabrics. Thinking of my kids and the designer couch that hasn't survived their existence, I will be back here in the new year so I can make slipcovers or afford to have it reupholstered. Finding this place could be a bit tricky for some. It's behind the Super Target store in Vernon Hills in a single story industrial looking warehouse building. You've probably seen it or driven past it a million times. Whether you're making pillows, drapes or furniture covers, I suggest coming here first and foremost before hitting up one of the bigger chain stores where you have to place your order for designer fabrics at the full price. Amazing selection and a rude staff member, so we'll go with a three. No one said hello when we walked in and, being that it was a Monday afternoon and slow, they really have no excuse. One woman did approach me after I was there for 30 minutes and offered to cut swatches if I needed any, so that was nice. She was smiley and pleasant. The other woman there (short gray hair) was quite the opposite. I approached her at the counter and asked her about pricing and her answer was "no". No eye contact. Nothing. Just no. She apparently couldn't be bothered by me, so I put the products back I was about to buy and left without making a purchase. I personally hate supporting businesses that are not at least courteous to their customers. I don't expect hand holding or over the top greetings, but get it together and get some employees that aren't bitter or pompous (she seemed like she was afflicted with a bit of both). I guess when demand for a product is high enough businesses can treat their customers any way they want (which is unfortunate). read more

I drove from Wisconsin to Illinois to one of my favorite stores fabric to purchase upholstery fabric for my kitchen stools. This store has a wonderful selection of decorator fabrics and the staff is always very kind to give you a decorating opinion, help with fabric selection and cut samples off the rolls for you to take home and preview before you purchase. However that is only half of the experience that I had today. I was not greeted by the Jeannine who was cutting some swatches for another customer. Without finishing with the other customer she said that she could cut swatches for me as well before I even had a chance to look at fabrics. It was a Saturday I thought they were busy so I asked her to cut swatches from 3 fabrics thinking that I can ask for more help as I got acquainted with all of fabrics. Abruptly Jeannine turned to me and said that I was only able to be given 8 swatches. I also explained that I had just made a 50 minute trip and I may need more swatches. I was told that it didn't matter how far I drove, that is their policy. I asked her if that is the case (which it never has been) could she could look at the stool, that was in my car and make some suggestions. I was told "NO, we don't do design services". This is not at all the experience that I am used to at this store. It was very uncomfortable shopping under that kind of scrutiny. I continued to shop and waited for another sales woman to finish with her customer and asked her if she could help me. She said "Hello I'm Michelle and what can I help you with". I felt like someone flipped a light switch and the Loom Craft and employees that I always knew reappeared! Michelle was wonderful and so was the other woman working today. I left the store with lots of fabric swatches and ideas to complete my project. I can't wait to return to Loom Craft to purchase the fabric that my husband and I choose. I work in a profession service industry and know that the success of my business depends on treating clients with respect and courtesy. The owner of this company should examine who he/she has working for him/her if business success and return customers is the goal. read more

Just went to Loomcraft again yesterday and was blown away AGAIN by their wonderful service! FYI! The lady at the counter told me they are about to add FURNITURE any day now to the floor..you pick out your sofa and then the fabric (which yesterday was 50% off) I teased her and said, "I hope you put the Smith with an E brothers out of biz cause I hate their commericals!" HA HA! In any case I bought some beautiful curtins for my store yesteerday and it was only $8 a yard!!!!! It is totally worth the drive and a fun place to explore. read more

I am like a kid in a candy store when I come here. So many colors, textures, designs and ideas. This is the fifth time I have used them to redo a home. Every time we move, I have to start all over again and guess where I get my inspiration? Yup. Unlike other comments, I have had a really good experience here every time I go. This place really gets busy, so try and go on the off hours. They used to have coupons, and specials, but they changed all of that and with the money they saved, reduced all the fabrics by about 30-40%. The ladies that work here know their stuff. They have all designed and/or made their own curtains, pillows, drapes, bedspreads, etc. Their inventory moves fast, so if you see something you love, get it! The staff is helpful with calling other stores, if the bolt they have doesn't have enough fabric for you. They also let you take a bolt home to make sure that you like the fabric in the room that you are using it (different lighting can change the look drastically). I have had them upholster pieces for me before and they did a great job. They are running a 20% off on upholstery jobs now and I have just the piece in mind. Once you find this place, it can be a treasure trove of great, first quality fabrics at good prices. This place is large and organized with a great selection. To make things even better, the bolts are sorted by color. After ages of looking in other places, I found some awesome striped fabric here that made kick ass seat covers in my dining room. Bonus: The staff is super nice and helpful. Bonus #2: If you are looking for a bargain, the back room is a must see. Several rows of fabrics at a big discount because they are either discontinued or just only have a short bit of fabric left on the bolt. Its not just the leftover junk, theres great finds back there! This place is tucked away in Vernon Hills and doesn't get much press, but it's a gem for anyone looking for home fabrics. It's dazzling with selections and discounts. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and there is a small back room with discount trims too. You do have to be careful that your selection doesn't have flaws--they'll gladly cut past flaws but they don't inspect for them (that's your job! Just watch when your fabrics on the winder.) They know their stock and can help find the perfect fabric for your project. The week before we went into lockdown I dropped off outdoor cushions . I was sure they would be missing due to all that happened. Imagine my surprise when I got a call BEFORE the due date they were done. Because the store was closed they told me they would drop them off... I was so happy they hadn't gotten misplaced . I read the reviews about the unfriendly staff, so I was not surprised when I walked in and the lady behind the counter looked up at me and went back to what she was doing. No "hello" or "how's it going?", not even a smile! I had just come from Joann's and a lot of the fabric I saw was the same...only it was nearly twice as much at Loomcraft! Granted the Joann's fabric was on sale, but even if it wasn't, just wait for the coupons to come out. It's better than overpaying for flawed fabric with flawed customer service. read more

Absolutely the best place to shop for fabric that I know of, in the Chicago area! It is clean, organized beautifully by color, and absolutely inspiring for anyone needing a lift of their spirits, or who may be a "closet" decorator, looking for ideas. I have just found a gorgeous mohair-look-alike fabric in silver-sage for less than $15 per yard. The Vernon Hills location did not have enough yardage for my two sofas, but immediately located the yardage at another store. I ordered, after seeing the fabric via texted photo, and it is being shipped for less than $20 to my door! I have visited the store for years, but the need for re upholstery was becoming necessary and unavoidable! The sales lady who assisted me was kind and gentle and took the time to write me a detailed estimate for the entire re upholstery job, which I may or may not do through them, but it automatically gave me a comp for my pricing work nearer home. I saw some cushions come out for a customer picking up, so that is a new thought, too. I have a pair of bergere chairs with separate cushions, and I could buy fabric and bring the cushions for drop off and pickup----- awesome! Also, they have outdoor fabrics, think Sunbrella. Any Mom would be wise to get slipcovers done for all indoor furniture out of this outdoor fabric, indestructible and stain and water-resistant. Also, if you are a Mom doing a child's room or nursery--- get over here! They have lovely silks and cottons in beautiful graphic fabrics ---- modern or more romantic, toiles, stripes, floral, bold, modern geometries, ginghams, etc. you could do a Serena and Lily or Jonathan Adler look-alike room for fractions of that price! Highly recommended. Also, I found the service to be great on my recent visit. In past visits, I have appreciated being able to wander on my own, and someone has always been available to answer any and all questions, or to cut swatches, as many as you like! Went in on Sunday around 1:30pm. Has a great selection of fabrics but poor, poor customer service. Asked one of the ladies for help trying to find a color that would compliment a pillow I brought in. The woman was extremely rude and immediately said she couldn't make my decision for me-I was just asking for some ideas and some advice! Persistently stated I had to pick out the color myself-HORRIBLE customer service. If you know exactly what you're looking for, great place to go. But, don't go if you may need some advice/help because apparently they are only useful for cutting fabric. read more

It was a hike to get to the location, however it was worth the trip. I went several times. They say that 3Xs is a charm and it was. Not only did I find the fabric I was looking for, but it was an additional 40% off...SCORE! I have realized that you have to be patience with their customer service, especially when there is a sale. I did need assistance and the employee was helping another customer. At the end, I had two ladies helping me with the choice of the fabric. Shout out to Sue and Angela! Love Loomcraft! Best selection and prices in the Chicagoland area. Super-helpful staff. I also recommend their upholstery work. I had my sofa recovered including new cushions made to repair damaged ones, and the work came out beautifully. They also built a custom-sized headboard and upholstered it, and the finished product is stunning. Worth the trip, but make sure to leave enough time when you go. I've been shopping here for years, and I love their tremendous selection. The fabrics are beautifully organized by weight and color, which is very helpful. There are sections for trims, hardware, foam- everything needed for sewing draperies or doing upholstery. The salespeople are really helpful with suggestions, and very willing to cut free swatches of fabrics for uncertain shoppers to take home and ponder. Best of all, the prices are good, too! read more

Purchased fabric to have three custome roman shades made, one came back perfect love it. The other two came back wrong siize. They could not replicate fabric, from different bolt to correct / re make shades. Was issued refund on shades. All the employees helpful. read more

Wow! Just found out about Loomcraft today and visited the store and was blown away! I have never seen so many beautiful home decor fabrics in one place. Ok....here's the best part - the prices are the best I've ever seen as well. I was in decorating heaven. I wish I had known about it when I was doing bigger projects. Excellent selection of fabrics. Wonderful quality. However, I've shopped here many times over the last 12 years or so and have not found the staff to be particularly helpful or friendly. I'm glad that others have had a better experience with that, but you would think after so many times in the store, I would have had some really positive experiences.
