Three times is the limit for me. I've visited this store three times and been made to feel like I was "bothering" the clerk each time-and I'm sure one was the owner! I gave one star because the store looks pretty. If you want to be treated like your business is appreciated, try one of the other Center City yarn stores. The arrogance of the Loop team isn't worth it. I live close to Loop, but am happy to take a walk to another area just to avoid their rudeness. From the reviews, I see that I'm not alone. read more

If you're looking for fine wool, the selection is dreamy... think of Loop as a fine wool shop, rather than a 'yarn store'. As mentioned in other reviews - not the pace to go for implements, although they have some very basics, or lesser fibers - and I'd hate to see the space dedicated to sumptuousness given over to anything more ordinary!! I gave four and not five because when it's busy in there (i.e. more than 3 or 4 of us, including when there's a class in progress) the staff can be quite preoccupied and customer service basics kind of go out the window. read more

Look no further friends. You have found the (consumer's) mecca of textiles in Philadelphia. You have found a place that makes you feel fabulous and creative. You have found a place that IS DIY, in an earnest, pragmatic, achievable way. This is the type of shop we pray for in our city and the corners of our neighborhood when we go to sleep (note: shop is not on a corner). I don't think the selection is huge, but that's because it is SANS STINKERS. Eclectic but haute textile for sure. The woman who helps us (god bless her I never got her name) lends a hand and gives a solid opinion without being a nuisance. Wait, that is selling her short. We feel connected to her because of the ways she's helped us transform our house. We love to walk by and wave at her. We (my wife and I) love to tell her about our latest project, because we love the way she smiles when we do. She is enthusiastic, she is great. Loop really is a stellar place of business. They are polished enough that I wouldn't be surprised to find out it is a chain. But damnit they are plugged in enough to our needs and those of the neighborhood - frankly they have that localism vibe - that I sure would be a bit disappointed to find out this isn't a special little treasure just for us. I was in town for a convention and stumbled upon Loop while wandering around. It's fantastic! So many pretty yarns and mostly new to me as they aren't available in Chicago. Prices were fine, and I walked away with some projects. A great find! read more

Well, this wasn't my favorite yarn store. I found the owner to be rude when I spoke with him. It's too bad because it is a beautiful location. I'll stick to Rosie's. They also have beautiful yarn and the staff there is very helpful. read more

Unlike other knitting stores in Center City, Loop is a welcoming place for a relatively new knitter. They have beautiful yarn and a wealth of patterns as well as pleasant staff members who were very helpful to me. I had almost given up knitting after being intimidated at another place and I am glad that I stopped at Loop today. I highly recommend them. read more

I love this store.Really beautiful selection and quality. You will never leave empty handed and I agree with the other reviewers that it is high end a bit pricey, but not overpriced for what you are getting. I would say you would be hard pressed to do better online,and you have a great selection here, and don't have to settle for what online has in stock. I am a fan and will keep this as my go to yarn shop.I heard they also have great classes I will be trying that out too. read more

I am very unhappy for the second time, I first went in last year and felt very uncomfortable, as if I was being judged as a homeless person. They do not ask you if you have any questions. They did not even care if you buy anything. The owner was cold. I did give it another try, trying to sign up for a class. the employee said she would call me back in a MINUTE. When i called the next day, the class was full. no thank you, i will take my business elsewhere. NEVER GOING BACK read more

I had one good experience and one so-so experience with Loop. I took the crochet class and had a so-so experience. The teacher went VERY fast at there were several false-beginners in the class. I was stressed out the entire time and didn't learn as much as I wanted. The teacher was very experienced in crochet but really didn't know how to teach. She didn't know how to make things understandable for beginners. I came home and watched several YouTube videos and learned a lot more than the class. I don't recommend the crochet class if you are a true, absolute beginner. The sewing class was a lot of fun. I made a reversible tote bag in one afternoon - it was very exciting! The teacher was very experienced (she also teaches kids how to sew) and very patient with beginners. She can explain things in a way that beginners would understand. She also did a lot more demo and pointed out all the commonly made mistakes beginners made (VERY helpful!) Too bad that Loop does not offer sewing classes anymore! read more
