Getting there was a little tricky since parking is street-only, so I highly recommend arriving early like we did. We were able to find a spot without issue, but I can imagine it getting tougher later in the day. It was also a bit confusing at first since you have to walk through a closed marina gate marked "No Trespassing" to get to the dock. Thankfully, a crew member from Miss Susie met us at the second gate and escorted us to the boat (Miss Susie III). Once onboard, both the captain and his mate were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely funny. They gave us a clear walkthrough of what to expect and were very patient with the first-timers in our group. Everyone felt comfortable, even those new to fishing (and there were several). We had modest hopes and just wanted to catch a few fish but ended up catching over 50 catfish between the seven of us! It seemed like non-stop action, and everyone on board was raving about the experience afterwards. Several folks even said they hoped we'd do it again and I guarantee you that we will. This is very likely becoming a yearly tradition! If you're looking for a fun, well-run charter experience with a great crew, I can't recommend Miss Susie Charters enough. We had a blast!

I can honestly say that they gave us their best. We moved around when nothing was biting and we did not stop trying. These are fixed, not floating piers, but tides are minimal. The pier head where we stayed (dock E) and the adjacent fuel pier head can be exposed to wind and some waves if coming from the southeast, but the waves are knocked down a bit by flats. The docks are in good repair, and the grounds are immaculate. We took advantage of the free-access propane grills up on shore for a nice picnic. There's a West Marine just a short walk away. The marina has a pool, poolside bar, ice makers, laundry, and more. Their pump-out is also free. Docking here was slightly pricy, but well worth it at a location central to the Chesapeake between two 8-hour sails, and not at all out of line for the area and quality of facilities.

The reason for this visit was to assist with returning a family member's 47 foot sailboat back up to the Jersey shore. The crew does all the fishing for everybody on the boat and if your reel catches anything, they let you reel it in and they do the rest. We also caught over 100 perch. The boat is nice size. The boat holds up to 24 people. I never have more than 12 that way it's comfortable. It's very clean. Stu uses high quality rods and reels. His mate Joe is very attentive and patient. He spent some time with ones that have never fished before showing them what to do. Joe also cleaned the Rock Fish for free. Very nice
