We rented a boat on the 4th of July to take our 5 year old nephew crabbing and fishing. We had a great time and the boat worked great. Captain Ron and Nancy were very knowledgeable and accommodating and the nicest people. I have no idea what the review from Sarah is about and found none of her issues to be true. Nancy even allowed us to move the date of renting the boat after we had an issue and could not make the original rental date of July 3rd. My two adult children and I rented two jet skis from Captain Ron and Nancy yesterday (I was just a passenger). He was very thorough in his instructions and explained things a couple times. My children are experienced jet skiers but I appreciated the refresher. While Captain Ron came across as a bit stern, it is his business and equipment. Reading a few of the other negative reviews, I understand why he is very clear on instructions and rules. Once out on the water, my son had trouble with keeping his jet ski running despite Captain Ron's guidance over the phone. Ron offered to come out and assist my son and even gave him a new jet ski. There was nothing wrong with the original jet ski. The throttle needed to be pumped a few times to clear it but Ron decided to switch out and clear the throttle himself. Very thoughtful of him. We had a wonderful 2 hour ride, saw the lighthouse, a dead fish and had lots of open space to ride around. It was a beautiful day and an enjoyable experience with sweet Nancy and her Captain Ron. read more

A lovely spot to pickup a kayak, bike or small power boat to enjoy by land or sea. The marina staff are patient and have the kind of local knowledge a visitor needs to have a safe trip. The equipment is clean, up to date and in good working order. Even the life preservers were a perfect fit. The kayak loops they suggest are idyllic. There is plenty to see along the way and even a beach to pull up on for a picnic. Remember to bring your camera and to stop en route for a bag lunch to make the day complete. read more

We took boating instruction from Capt. Ron because we've ordered a boat and needed to learn a lot! We had a 4 hour class with him on his boat during which we learned the basic handling of a comparably-sized boat, backing into a slip, all the parts of a boat, proper basic knot-making and reading a map. We then went out into the East Chesapeake Bay and, referencing the map, looked for markers and buoys. We asked lots of questions after we'd been through the rigors of basic learning and he was full of information. We loved the class, learned a lot and enjoyed Ron's company. We would highly recommend him as a boating instructor. read more

Spouse rented a boat with a cousin while on vacation in July 2014.Captain Ron gave them a thorough lesson in regards to the area, where to avoid and how to navigate back to the rental house. They had a wonderful time until the propeller hit a rock and got bent (shallow waters with rocks that you really can't see near rental house) Boat was taken back a few hours early because they weren't sure how bad propeller was damaged. Needless to say, propeller had to be replaced. Captain Ron was very nice and understanding about the incident. We would definitely rent again and remember to not drive close to rental house with the hidden rocks. read more

We have been going on large, extended family vacations for more than 10 years. Of all the equipment we've rented in that time (houses, cars, boats, etc.), we have never encountered someone like Ron and his wife. Not only are they disrespectful and combative, but their total lack of understanding of what customer service is all about is shocking. We rented a 14 person pontoon boat from Tilghman Island Marina, so I can't speak to what renting the smaller equipment is like. The boat was wonderful for the week we had it, so it's unfortunate that our experience at the end was so distasteful. Everyone among us has prior boating experience, but as we pulled into Ron's dock at the end of the week,, the only thing he was concerned about was finding what was wrong with the boat, not even asking us how our time out was, or acknowledging the ladies among us. Once docked, he tried to over charge us for the amount of gas left in the tank of the boat, and then tried to charge us for a new propeller for the outboard. If we had harmed the boat, we would have paid without a problem, but the prop was very artificially damaged, and could have been machined back to perfect working condition. Instead, Ron chose to argue with, name call, and belittle us. Mind you this is to three grown men over the age of 50, as well as a woman. We agreed to pay the $200 for a new prop but asked that the old prop be given to us as proof that he did order a new propeller and not just spend $20 machining the old one back to working order. Ron agreed to this, but It's been 2 weeks and we still haven't received the propeller. Calls to Ron have been combative and unprofessional and now he is refusing to send out the propeller, saying that he doesn't need to bother with us because we aren't from the area and won't be back again. Interesting way to run a service related business. Bottom line, for spending thousands of dollars on a boat rental and giving someone your business, you would expect some professionalism and courtesy as well as respect. If you want none of those things, go see"Captain" Ron and have an abysmal experience. Or, use the other, less expensive marina on the island that's right up the street from Ron's TI marina and all of it's problems. read more

The marina is small and quiet and is located in a new neighborhood on the western most tip of Tilghman Island. Slips hold beautiful views of the bay and marsh. The restrooms are clean and convenient. The pool is just lovely with a neatly landscaped border. They have kayaks and jet skis for rent and the marina grounds are well maintained. The only inconveniences are a lack of a washer/dryer and they are a bit of a walk to the nearest decent restaurant at the bridge. It doesn't take long to walk but there are no sidewalks and you have to walk passed a few homes where their dogs run off leash. Dogs were friendly but a little unsettling at first. The owners are super nice. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again. The marina is easy to get in and out of and their barrier does an amazing job of breaking the wakes from the traffic coming thru Knapps Narrows. We stayed in the slip just under their sign and boats came plowing into the narrows to escape the bad weather on the bay. We hardly felt a thing. Very protected, read more

What a pleasure it was to find Ron and Nancy at Tilghman Island Marina!! From the beginning to end, things could not have gone smoother for the rental of a boat.
