I called the morning of my appointment and was explicitly told they had received my most recent bloodwork. When I arrived, they did not have my labs. Despite this, the NP had already formed her opinions before reviewing anything. Was rude and arrogant, told me my brain fog was simply due to old age and didn't bother to ask about any other symptoms and that my testosterone level of 167 ng/dL -- which my lab flagged as clinically low, was not a concern. She recommended DHEA as an alternative to TRT with no discussion of my history or symptom pattern whatsoever. When I raised concerns, the NP accused me of trying to skirt protocols, protocols I had never objected to and was fully prepared to follow. I ultimately had to pull up my own lab results on my phone, screenshot them, and email them to the office myself during the appointment just to have my records present. I left without a meaningful evaluation or treatment plan despite planning a week ahead, confirming my records were received, and coming fully prepared with documented symptoms and specific health goals. I was dismissed, blamed for their administrative failure, and made to feel like a problem rather than a patient. I would strongly encourage anyone seeking men's health or hormone evaluation to find a provider who will actually review your records before drawing conclusions.

Maybe I've been spoiled by my previous provider, but this experience was not a great impression. When I first arrived, I was acknowledged by an unpleasant receptionist. It's pretty clear that she doesn't like her job-or the people she works with. I felt like I was intruding on her day and inconveniencing her just by being there. After I filled out my paperwork (which she basically tossed at me), she didn't look up as I stood in front of her. Perhaps she didn't hear me with her earbuds in and she was zoned out to any other place than here. Eventually, she took the paperwork and told me I'd be called back when they were ready. Once I went back to an exam room, I noticed how eerily quiet everything was...that is, until the doctor entered the adjacent room and I heard every bit of their conversation. Truly, I could tell you what the issue was, what the doctor's recommendation for treatment is and when to follow up. All between the paper thin walls. I didn't feel like privacy was a given, even though we were in separate rooms. My experience with the doctor was fine-quick, but got the job done. She was friendly enough and I appreciated her get-down-to-business attitude. I'd imagine she's not there to build rapport with patients since this isn't that type of place. I have always received same day or next day appointments for any non-routine medical need. All visits have started on time and I've never felt rushed. His office staff are polished, professional, and attentive. I greatly appreciate that Dr. Gay's office has an on-site lab (massive time saver). I also appreciate the patient portal where you can make appointments, view your lab results, view your prescriptions, ask questions, etc. On two separate occasions, Dr. Gay needed to refer me to a specialist. Both times he pulled out his phone and called the specialist's office right then. Not only was I floored that he personally made the call, but he also arranged appointments for that day! One of the occasions was more urgent and Dr. Gay and the specialist communicated back and forth several times before I was admitted to the hospital. Seems he's there to get a check and that's it, I was diagnosed w/fibro in 2009, had several doctors verify this, been hospitalized and all; however, "super doc" Ward calls this a "garbage diagnosis", because he totally knows. *eye rolls* However, Dr. Grose, the neurologist Dr. Reiser and her PA Jessica Latham are 5+ stars!! They have saved my life, fighting and finding exactly what works for me and making sure my series of medications never interact badly. Especially Jessica Latham. If she was to get her own office, I'd follow her. These folks really do get a bad rap from their office staff and Mr. Ward. Once you get into the doctors themselves, the office staff and the MA (medical assistant) issues are nominal compared to your care. I had issues as well, but I just told Dr. Grose and BAM things are fixed! :D My a-typical migraines are under control, my degenerative disc disease is under control and my pain is always the most important item on all of their lists and keeping me healthy and able to work and be a mom.
