This place is like a cigar heaven. The inside is a humidor of posh wood. If there were one word I would use to describe the place it would be classy. Customer Service: 5 star strong. Rocko was the best. Knowledgeable and helpful what the shop has to offer. Atmosphere: 3 star for the outside. 5 star for the in. The outside is not the easiest to get to from the road. Plenty of parking. The inside is where it gets good. It is beautiful and much like a history of cigars museum. Value: I don't know how to rate the value of the cigars to what their prices are as I am inexperienced about the prices for such things but the experience was awesome. The philosophy of the business is NOT to make the most money or the fastest but to keep a high level of quality and availability for their clients. Quality: 5 star. The selection and quality of cigars is beyond anything I knew existed. If they don't have it then you'll never have it or its not worth having. The place also offers a membership option for $600 a year. However, they is a membership limit. New members have to be vetted. Basically they wouldn't accept a convicted felon as a member and such. I think retired military and law enforcement would be a good fit. No drama people. I feel like the place is for the over 50 crowd. They vibe of the place is mellow. This is not a place you go if you are looking for a experience like "Hooters." If cigars were coffee it would be like Starbucks but ten times classier and a lot more exclusive. They have a special room for members to smoke cigars and socialize. I was not allowed to take pics because privacy and exclusivity are their standards. I think of it as a social club for gentlemen cigar smokers. They have monitors to watch games (think the super bowl and such), barbecue, and fine furniture. Never judge a book by its cover!! I know this, and admittedly sometimes I still do. I have passed by Lord Puffer hundreds of times in the last 7.5 years that I have lived in the North County. I assumed, making an "ass" out of "u" and "me", that it was either a marijuana dispensary or a vape shop based on the name. Never did I think it was an INCREDIBLE cigar shop. However when my go to closed early two weekends before Christmas and I needed to grab some gifts to mail out to my sons, I looked up cigar stores on Yelp. Lo and behold Lord Puffer was listed with solid 5 star reviews. Thinking to myself, "No way there's a cigar store this close to my house." I drove over and I can see why everyone raves about this place. First it's huge and has a great selection. The members lounge is large and looks very comfortable. The young man working behind the counter was amazing. I love great customer service and he nailed it. Shame on me for not getting his name. Anyhow if you're looking for your favorite cigar come here. The employees are great, Nathan the owner has really created something special here. Miguel, who has a wealth of experience in the cigar world is an expert, to say the least. He is happy and eager to teach people about all things cigars. He always recommends fantastic cigars and graciously shares his immense knowledge of cigars. This place is awesome! I tend to stick with online ordering these days, but I can't stay no to checking out a new-to-me cigar shop. I was referred to Lord Puffer by a friend/coworker and after a couple weeks of putting it off, finally made it in! The place is easy to find and quick to get to from the 15, or 78 freeways. First off, the place is huge! It's one giant humidor and pretty much sensory overload, but in a good way. I was greeted by Tom who took a genuine interest in making me feel welcome and helped me find what I was looking for. He made good recommendations based on what I told him I like and I ended up leaving with probably 20 sticks or so most of which were ones I hadn't tried before. I really like this place and although it's pretty far from my house, it's close to my work. Id really like to make this place an after-work stop occasionally to enjoy a cigar on their patio. I had to write this review after seeing a post from someone that implied this place was racist because of the color of her skin. While the response from the GM was nice, I wouldn't have been that nice. I've been coming here for years, and there are a few regulars that are African American, and we all get along wonderfully. They have no problems here. And a few Sundays I've seen a biker group of mostly African-Americans that pop in. We got into a long conversation, and they come here often, and enjoy themselves. So for somebody to imply they walked in and weren't given proper service because of the color of their skin, just disgusts me; because things like that can hurt a business, and if they're not true, that's just insane. Something people need to keep in mind is -- sometimes you walk into a place (any store, restaurant, etc.), and there might just be once person working there (as is often the case with Puffer). If they're in the bathroom, helping another customer, on the phone, or whatever...you might not be helped right away. This shouldn't be perceived as anything else. Now, that out of the way -- you won't find a bigger and better selection of sticks in all of the land. read more

Lord Puffer is a true asset to North County. They continue to add and modify the inside and their cigar collection is excellent. They are trying to do a little exclusivity by having a membership or pay for a day pass to smoke in their lounge. I know this is a trend across the country but I have mixed thoughts on this practice. Now that football season is in full swing, I've been coming here a lot more. At least twice a week. I always thought Tom was a great guy, but getting to know J.J. and talking football (and Green Bay Packers) with him, has been a blast. Not only the best smoke shop in the North County, one of the best around. And I've gone to many. I also like that they have a selection of inexpensive cigars, because sometimes I'm on an hour lunch break, and don't want to buy an expensive stick I'm going to toss after an hour of smoking. Perfect place to go for the holidays, if you want that stocking stuffer (hey....kids might like a small, Nicaraguan Nub cigar)...or for that grumpy grandfather that sits on his favorite chair smoking his favorite stogie.
