Sorry if I get this wrong but the Russian guy who's there seems like 007 villain lol jk. He's a awesome guy and keeps the place clean as if it's the white house and it's always fully stocked! I have tried to clean them out of Padrón cigars multiple times by buying boxes and come back next few days but they have them there and for all I know they have them fully stocked after I leave. This is the best cigar lounge of all NCSD, definitely a all time favorite cigar lounge I've been to and; I have been a lot across the US and the gentlemen here are some truly amazing people. You'll come across everything from wealth management, business owners and even blue collar people. I recommend don't come here talking shop or drama. Come for great conversation, great smokes and a couple interesting personalities. I personally love the weekend crew but if you just want to throw on the headphones and smoke.. go for it. They also offer a wonderful deal if you spend $100 you get 10% off. Which is basically sales tax and than some. It's BIG help cause when I go in.. I GO IT!! read more

Cigars Vera Cruz is the only cigar shop in its location. They offer 9 leather chairs, a huge selection (including Opus X) and industry events with well known hosts on Thursday's every other month. They have a nice big flat screen TV with cable, tons of all the latest "guy" magazines (Rob Report, Cigar Aficionado, Motor Trend, etc.) and are situated in a large complex filled with tons of restaurants, Nordstrom's Rack and many other businesses. The proprietor, Sam, is a quiet reserved guy and has been in the tobacco industry for well over 20 years and he knows his stuff. He does have a policy of dissuading cigar smokers from bringing in their own cigars and although other shops may not state this physically, it's an unwritten rule. Without this standard, everyone would buy their cigars online for less and sit and enjoy his environment for free. His prices are typical of any quality shop, but he's amiable to work a deal with you should you so seek. Personally, I like this shop. It's comfortable, well lit and sits in a great location in San Marcos. While I don't get out here often, I do enjoy dropping by when I'm in the area. Keep up the good work Sam! read more

My fiancé pointed Cigars Vera Cruz as we were driving out of the mall parking lot and I'd thought I'd give it a chance next time I was in the neighborhood. The opportunity came and we went in to check it out. Like Daniel N. describes, the "lobby" of the shop is very nice but limited seating area. Granted it is just a single retail space. I found the selection of cigars fine but prices very high. For example a A. Fuente Signature I normally pay less than $7 for retail was over $10 here. In fact any sticks below $10 were few and far between. I find it hard to leave a cigar store empty handed, so I left with two sticks and $25 less in my pocket. And then there is the $10 service charge if you want to smoke a cigar there that you bought somewhere else. I realize Sam is open to make a profit, but there is a difference between turning a profit and highway robbery. Seriously, lower your prices to around 10% over mail order and chances are you might have me as a customer. Ditch the lame "corkage fee". read more

San Marcos has the best cigar lounge for easy pick up and just to sit and enjoy a good cigar

This was my first time visiting a cigar shop and I am new to the cigar experience, or being as they call a "Cigar Aficionado". I was warmly greeted by a gentleman named "Sam", which I came to later learn was the owner of the shop. Large plasma TV, leather chairs and dark wood... a man's dream of a man's room. Being new to cigar selections, and selections they have, Sam escorted me to a large room in back which housed many cigars floor to ceiling. Sam helped with selection and value. I was pleased with my start with the first three cigars I had selected, thanks to the help of Sam. While checking out I was given great advise to purchase a travel humidor to help preserve the cigars I purchased so I would be able to enjoy them at my desire. As I enjoyed my conversation with Sam he mentioned that he is going to hopefully expand his store into the next building. This would open him up to a larger lounge area which probably isn't needed, but will be as more people find this great shop. He would also like to have a liquor license to be able to serve his customers with hard alcohol. I would suggest to any cigar lovers to help support him on his quest to offering an enhanced experience. read more

Worker didn't seem to know what he was selling. Sold me a gift box of Cigars for $100 and told me 5 were in it. Turns out it only had three when I looked it up online later in the day. Online it was also going for $30. Called them up and they would not take a return (since it was out of the Humidified room which I understand). I was not offered any discount or other compensation. I use to but from them but I stopped. I purchased a lighter from them. It stopped working after a couple of months. I tried to exchange it but they would not. I ended up purchasing another lighter from them. I found out later that the first lighter had a life time warranty from the supplier. They should have told me this before they sold me another lighter. read more
