The burden of proof is not on me. Travelers was more than welcome to come inspect my roof and determine why such an outrageous and clearly false claim was made, but they did not. I cannot remain a customer with a company that treats its customers like this. If I ever needed to file a claim, I can't imaging the battle that would ensue to force them to pay. Liberty Mutual turned an already stressful situation into a nightmare…read more My son's truck was legally parked when it was sideswiped by a commercial dump truck. He was 100% not at fault. His 2017 Toyota Tacoma was in excellent condition, under 100,000 miles, mechanically sound, and still drove perfectly after the accident. The frame was straight. No broken glass. No major mechanical issues. The damage was primarily cosmetic body damage. Despite that, Liberty Mutual declared it a total loss. What has been most upsetting isn't just the decision -- it's the complete lack of empathy and poor communication throughout the process. Everything felt cold, rushed, and transactional. We were given vague instructions, confusing paperwork, and inconsistent explanations about payout timelines. Every answer had to be dragged out of them. The most frustrating part? They only extended the rental for a very short period and refused to budge because it was "policy," even though my son did nothing wrong. So while Liberty makes decisions from behind a desk, the real-life consequences fall entirely on us. My son now has to scramble to find and finance another truck before even receiving his settlement money -- all because someone else hit his parked vehicle. Insurance is supposed to help restore stability after an accident. Instead, Liberty Mutual added stress, confusion, financial pressure, and frustration. If you want an insurance company that treats you like a human being during a claim, this was not our experience.

Optional coverages have been available from all car insurance companies since the beginning of auto insurance. Liberty Mutual didn't create it, as if they were the only ones who offer that. They're wrong, and it's a lie by concealment. If your car is paid off, for example, you can save a few $$hundred every year by opting out of collision coverage. The same goes for comprehensive, Personal Injury Protection, and Uninsured/Underinsured motorists coverages. They quoted me 40% more than USAA, so it appears they don't offer military discounts.
