My mom was recently a patient in Menorah Park for one week. She was there in connection with…read morerecovery / rehabilitation following hip surgery. During that one week, she was initially roomed with a patient suffering from dementia who was later moved as she was having frequent outbursts. However, the woman tried on several occasions to return to the room and was yelling at my mom through the door that my mom was trying to steal from her. On a separate occasion two individuals tried entering the room. This caused my mom unnecessary stress for her safety and peace of mind and concern on my part for how well everyone is being supervised and cared for; especially those who either can't advocate for themselves or don't have friends/family checking on them. Both my mom and her new roommate waited anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour any time they requested toileting assistance causing her roommate to wet herself due to the wait. Rather than receive an apology the roommate was yelled at for 20 minutes (witnessed by my sister who was too afraid to say anything for fear of repurcussions to our mom). We understand the facility is short staffed but raising one's voice to any patient is unacceptable. Ants were observed in their room to the extent that my mom and roommate were moved to the hallway while the room was cleaned. Prescriptions that my mom needed upon discharge (24 hr home care versus remaining any longer at the facility which would have otherwise been weeks) were not called into the pharmacy due to "computer issues" We were told this was consistent with what others have observed here and at other facilities which is simply unconscionable and sad that no one was surprised that this was our experience as well.

I feel like this place is very good and that they deserve a second chance. The only reason why…read morepeople are so pissed off it's because there's not a lot of nurses and it's hard to get qualified misses and then about the food the food not terrible. It's just a different way of making the food. It's a Jewish home and that means the food is cultured y'all really do not give this place a chance you're just highlighting the bad part of it or actually celebrating the good things.

These people are preying on our elderly loved ones who pay the last of their lifetime savings to be somewhere safe! I have a neighbor that was placed in Loretto after back surgery. She has other health issues…read moreincluding a gluten allergy. The bed that she had in her room was broken from the moment she arrived. Finally, after a much complaining someone came and pumped air into it. An hour later the air had leaked out. With regards to her gluten allergy.... she was told that they felt low gluten was okay. She has lost an extreme amount of weight as a result. When she confronted staff about the gluten they told her to avoid eating the bread and pasta. The next morning a croissant breakfast sandwhich was served. Another issue which is paramount is their fire safety procedures. The fire alarm went off randomly for a 2 to 3 hour period. When she rolled out to the desk ... she was told ... there is no fire that I can see and besides it was set off in the adjacent building but they weren't sure where. There was no evacuation of patients nor was there any response by fire personnel. I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to be placed there for rehab!!!! Finally, certain staff are rude. The staff wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours to respond to a bell call (a bathroom request that requires assistance by staff). Once she gets to the point that she can't wait and attempts to assister herself and falls then they get upset.

The level of incompetence with the nursing staff and doctors is absolutely mind boggling. My mother was transferred there, and was only there 3 days. She informed the staff at 7AM that she was UNABLE to move at all. They waited 9 1/2 hours before calling an ambulance and sending her to the ER (my mother called me, and let me know what was going on) and their staff called me 2 hours AFTER she was in the ER. Fast forward to today. She was UNRESPONSIVE to staff for over 7 hours (NOT ONE PHONE CALL was made to either myself or my sister regarding this), my sister spoke with their "head" social worker who said they took her off 3 of her meds (thinking that's what was causing it) I then called for an update and was informed my mother was awake and laying in bed. I was on the phone with her when she informed the staff she was AGAIN unable to move at all. I called the charge nurse and asked when an ambulance was going to be called and that I wanted a phone call once the ambulance was on its way. I have been on the phone for almost a SOLID HOUR with my mother and not ONE staff member has come in to tell her an ambulance is on its way (they had a staff member come and take her BP and that was an hour ago). Still no phone call from the staff regarding an ambulance and still no one has come into her room. STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY as they hire incompetent staff and can NOT determine what a medical emergency is (even if there was a NEON SIGN saying "Medical Emergency" This place needs to be closed down!
