Unfortunately, my experience after working with him long-term was extremely disappointing. Throughout 2025, communication was poor and he was consistently months behind on my P&L reports. Deadlines and promises were repeatedly missed, and emails requesting updates or information often went unanswered for long periods of time. After becoming concerned, I hired a new CPA to review my QuickBooks records. I was informed that my books were not being maintained to industry standards. Accounts had not been reconciled. Taxes were not being separated from sales, bank accounts had never been reconciled, payroll journal entries for 2025 were missing, and deposits were not properly broken out into sales, tips, sales tax collected, and processing fees. There were also uncategorized transactions going back to 2024. When I realized the extent of the issues, I terminated the relationship and requested the work be completed before transitioning elsewhere, since I had already paid for these services. Rather than taking accountability, I was met with pushback regarding contract timelines despite the condition of my books. What concerned me most was learning that my taxes had been filed while my books were still inaccurate and incomplete. After disclosing my issues with the accounts, he advised he would clean the books up to match the tax return. I later received notice from the IRS that the filing was being held for review. Hopefully his confidence is valid and they don't find any issues. There were also issues with him not filing my quarterly taxes that were included in my service plan. He only entered one filing since we started working together in May 2024 but he never actually submitted it, resulting in penalties and late fees. Although I was told the fees would be covered, that did not happen until after I ended the relationship and raised the issue again. I understand mistakes happen, but this was a repeated pattern of poor communication, missed deadlines, lack of follow-through, and improperly maintained financial records. I would strongly encourage anyone considering Briarwood Financial to carefully review their books regularly and not assume things are being handled properly behind the scenes.

This year they adapted a new on-line system (in addition to already e-filing) that was easy to use and my lengthy return was filed quicker than ever. I can now send all tax documents to their portal, which has checklists to help show me what documents I need to send. What a time saver! Their fees have always been low and reasonable, (what a relief!) While I love the new on-line portal, I know that if I need more help with tax decisions, they are always available in person, or they answer emails within a short amount of time.
