My wife and I lived at Los Arboles Apartments for 4 wonderful years, and our experience was truly exceptional. Mike, the property manager, consistently went above and beyond - his genuine care for the community and commitment to maintaining the property was evident every day. Virna and Courtney were always on hand and happy to help with any issue, making residents feel supported and valued. The maintenance team--Marco, Rigo, and Zenon--worked hard to keep the grounds immaculate; the grills and pool area were always spotlessly clean. Jennifer Athens, the owner, clearly cares deeply about making Los Arboles a desirable place to live. Under her oversight, the property has seen amazing renovations. The entire exterior has been repainted and updated, making the building much more inviting, and the new business center overlooking the ocean offers a fantastic quiet space to work. The upgraded grounds, new dog park, and well-maintained pool and jacuzzi further enhance the community feel. We are very sad to be moving out as our family is growing, but we will always cherish our time here. We look forward to stopping by and saying hello whenever we return to the neighborhood! read more

Los Arboles apartments was such a wonderful place to live. My husband and I lived there for three years. We brought our baby home to our apartment and it was truly a wonderful home. It is an amazing location and a great quiet walkable neighborhood. The staff are wonderful, friendly, and accessible. The pool is great and never crowded. Our apartment was large with ample storage. If anything ever was broken, it was quickly fixed. We will miss it there! read more

Location! Walking distance to Torrey State Pines Brach or Seagrove Park. Don't have to sit in traffic to enjoy this beautiful beach. Grounds are well maintained, management is hands on and willing to go above and beyond to help with tenant requests. The maintenance team is amazing and friendly. If I need work done, I have the upmost confidence leaving my apartment unattended. It's not corporately owned which makes a huge difference. My wife and I spent 4 years at Los Arboles and it was such a wonderful experience. We lived a block from the beach on the third story. We had a one bedroom with a den and partial ocean view. The management was always fantastic and we dealt initially mostly with Mike. He was always straightforward, very friendly and quick to fix anything we asked. There have been many significant changes and improvements over the last few years which has been great. Location Location Location! Del Mar is pretty quiet and falling to sleep hearing the waves is something I will miss. Walking, hiking the cliffs nearby or lounging the beach are big here. Honestly, we were very happy overall! We met seceral tenants who have stayed there for over 30 years. That should tell you something. The grounds are always well maintained with a very nice pool area and jacuzzi. Loved living here! The location and staff are wonderful. Only have been gone a few weeks but miss it already. One block from the cliffs and a quick easy walk to get on the beach. The amenities are very nice and the inclusion of internet and cable with your rent is an added bonus. Very much enjoyed my time here. read more

Los Arboles is great! We thoroughly enjoyed our time living in this apartment complex. The management team there is helpful, prompt, and organized. Any fix request we made was completed within 24 hours. Our apartment looked out over the lovely pool area, and we often kept our porch doors and windows open to enjoy the breeze coming in from the ocean. But my absolute favorite part was that you cannot beat the location - walk in one direction, and you have old town Del Mar with it's shops, restaurants, beach - walk in another direction and you are at Torrey Pines - and drive up the hill just past the 5 and you are at One Paseo and Del Mar Highlands Town Center. The location is not only amazing (great run/walk to Torrey Pines Natural Reserve, walks along the beach bluff..etc) but the staff was also incredible throughout our time there. We had minimal maintenance issues, but anytime something came up, they were quick to respond and fix. We have loved our time at Los Arboles, I cannot say enough good things about this complex and the people who work there. Especially Mike and Courtney! They always had smiling faces and loved our dog and daughter genuinely. We felt like family there. They keep the grounds so clean and in great shape. OMG one of the best places to live in SD right next to the beach and Torry pines state park. The building was always clean and safe. The landscape,pool and the jacuzzi were always maintained to perfection. The entire staff and the Manager Mike we always so polite and helpful. After living there for over a year It was clear Mike is one of the nicest and caring people my wife and I have ever had the chance to meet. He was always so nice to our service dog and everyone we witnessed him deal with. If you get the chance to live or visit this community you will agree how blessed we are to have people and places like this in this world. read more

After more than 2 awesome years it's time to leave this amazing place. If you have the opportunity to live here even for a short time you should do it. Del Mar is beautiful and this apartment building is in such a nice quiet location. We had a great apartment and could sometimes see the sunsets. The staff are amazing, all of them. We moved because we have bought ourselves our own apartment otherwise we would still be living there. I 100% have just good vibes and memories of my stay. This place is awful. We were seduced by the proximity to the ocean so we moved in. A few months later, we could not get out of there fast enough. When we moved in, we found cockroaches! The manager (a very nice guy) tried to tell me they rode in with our moving truck. Right, but I found them on the wall in the hall of another floor....did they ride in on other moving trucks? So, gross gross gross right away. Then, the bathrooms are so small you have to do the electric slide to get past another person to go to the shower. The washer and dryer (placed in the bathroom) are hooked up to other apartments in floors above, so your dryer air has been passed through other people's crappy clothes. We developed allergies. Each time we did laundry the clothes came out stinking more than when they went in. All appliances and furnishings are from the 70's...dark, dank, and crappy. Neighbors are, shall we say, not of the highest caliper. Noise at all hours of the night and day. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

An older apartment complex located one block from the beach, this place must've really been nice in 20 years ago. They have a good range of different sized apartments, they have a BBQ area with gas piped in, a nice sized pool and jacuzzi, a sauna, and an aged work-out room. They also have a communal lounge room on the top floor where you can host a party or occasionally they have a building potluck. Mike, the manager, is great. I cannot recommend Los Arboles Apartments highly enough. This was my first apartment when I moved to the greater San Diego area and it met all of my needs and desires. First, the location is great. Coming from San Francisco, walkability was important to me. The apartment complex is a short walk to downtown Del Mar for a fun night or day out. If you're looking for some exercise, you can walk to Torrey Pines and hike the trails or go to several beaches and parks (such as Powerhouse Park or Crest Canyon Park). Second, the complex has everything you could possibly need from a pool and hot tub to a quiet deck for studying/working. Third, the building had great amenities/features as it relates to covered parking, TV/internet, trash chutes, laundry, onsite security, etc. If there is anything that you need, the team is very responsive and helpful. Finally, all of my neighbors were very friendly and pleasant to live around. read more

Been here for 5 months now. These are definitely old apartments; the floorplans aren't modern or laid out super efficiently. But if you want to live within line-of-sight to the ocean, this place is as affordable as it gets. The manager is hands-down one of the nicest dudes I've met and has been extremely accommodating to us. Although the property is old, it's clean and decently kept up. The pool and hot tub are nice. We're on the 2nd floor in a corner unit and it's been very quiet for us. We haven't had any issues with bugs or vermin of any sort; in fact, we keep our porch door wide open all day long so our kitties can get some fresh air. This results in maybe 1 fly per day inside. There are surfer trails very nearby that lead down the cliffs for beach access. Bottom line, if you're looking for luxury, don't live here. It's too old to ever be luxurious. But if you're looking for line-of-sight to the ocean at an affordable price, this is definitely your place. read more

These apartments are amazing! Only one block from the beach, we walked our pup down to the cliffs overlooking Del Mar beach EVERY DAY! Quiet community with an amazing courtyard featuring a pool, hot tub, and grilling area. Mike, the property manager, is a great guy who not only always took care of business promptly but was always ready to greet our pup with a treat! We moved back to the east coast to be near family, but we miss it- we loved this place!! read more

STAY AWAY! My wife and I looked at a unit at Arboles and put a $1000 deposit down. Waited for almost a month for the lease because Company said that they do not give the lease out until a week before move-in... When I read the lease and disagreed with some of the terms the Company refused to return my payment. I had to take them to small claims court to get my money returned. Way too expensive for the quality of the building and customer service is the worst! Trust me there are much better units in Del Mar for that amount of rent... read more

Feel bad posting a review on top of Niko's excellent post. Ditto on everything he wrote! I signed a 3 month lease at Los Arboles and ended up staying over two years. Mike (the mgr) and Jessie (the maintenance mgr) were a pleasure to deal with. Read below someone complained about noise...compared to what? I found the place quiet relative to other apartments - like the one i am in now. In addition to beautiful grounds/trees/location - would also point out the amt of storage space (in the garage and apt cabinetry) included at Los Arboles was a big plus - kinda adds to the square footage so make sure to compare apples. ...and the cooling effect of living so close to the water (on this 80 degree day in SD) ...and the..... read more
