I have been living here for two years. Here's what I think about this complex. 1) Absolutely fantastic management team. Blanca and Indira are always responsive, friendly and helpful. They really do care about their tenants which is an extremely rare quality around the UCSD area. And they get the job done. 2) Maintenance team is exceptional Always enjoying saying hi and good morning with the two maintenance managers here. They're respectful and professional, and they show care for the safety of the property. They always response to our repair requests in a timely manner. 3) Rooms are large and renovated 4) Location is great Students can take bus 201 to UCSD. Driving is convenient as this complex sits near I805 and I5. Comes with two parking spaces with 2B models. And it is right next to Westfield UTC. 5) Price is good compared to other apartments nearby. Just do a search and you'll see. 6) Amenities. All there. I see people enjoying the pool, jacuzzi, BBQ grill and gym. So it's just not there for show like some other places. 7) Gated As much as I love this place, I feel I need to list the cons too, Cons: a) during pollen season, it's a little amazing how much you will get from the pine trees in the complex. b) cars are hard to be kept clean as no garage parking available and a). c) recently, I heard neighbor's bass from their TV sometimes late at night. Annoying. But management team took this seriously and is trying to solve the issue through communications. And I am confident they will solve it. It's an otherwise quiet place. (Air Force base, eh, you can't do anything about it, everybody in this region have to endure the jets sometimes) But the noise problem is nowhere near as bad as my previous apartment (La Scala). To defend this place, I can say if you don't go with townhouse, concrete apartments (like towers and lux UTC), which are levels more expensive, Torrey Pines Village is probably the best one can get. d) you can hear noise from cleaning vehicles at the mall at night and trucks loading for certain models. In conclusion, TPV is a well-managed, reasonably priced, generally quiet community with great room quality. Personally, I love living here although I am aware of a negative comment and I sincerely hope they address the tenant's issue. Literally the best. I lived here for 8 years- not only was the location super convenient, Cesar and Blanca really made it so easy to live there and so hard to leave! Any maintenance issues were handled quickly and any questions I had- always got responses in a timely manner. The complex is nice, the staff is great, the parking situation just makes everything really difficult for the 1bdr, 2 car people that live here. ***Note, I never published this review when I lived there in 2018 so this may be different now! Overall enjoyed living there. The events were nice. I worked in north county at the time so picked this location to make for an easier commute. The staff was responsive if we ever had any issues. I only wish there were more stars to give them ~ this is/was my husband's and my 1st home in San Diego, January 2020. We relocated to San Diego for my husband's job, just before COVID-19 hit our world. We needed a place to stay that was in close proximity to his new work place location. Torrey Pines Village was just a few miles away and had availability. As Covid-19 ravaged forth, the management here were very kind to us, (knowing we did not know Anyone, and were basically isolated from everyone and everything we ever knew). We appreciate this more than we can say with words. Kindness and a human touch in life means so much ... As the months progressed, we realized our children's jobs were forever lost because of covid-19. They all lived in Orlando for years and worked for Disney. We had to make a decision as a family, and Torrey Pines Village, once again, came to our rescue! We moved our 3 children across the country this past winter, from Florida, and now they have their own apartments, here! The Torrey Pines Village management has such a kind, human touch with their team ... it is impeccable. We will never forget our time spent here with these wonderful people, as we are to move into our home we've built over the past 16 months. Blanca, Indira, and Cesar, Thank You! My roommates and I are UCSD students that have been living year for almost a year and the Leasing Office is managed badly and impossible to reach. When we've called and no one answered, we've never been called back after we left voicemails. When we've gone physically in person during the hours the Leasing Office is supposed to be open, no one was in the office at all. Problems with pests and emergency maintenance calls (regarding our front door) haven't been answered. The location is convenient for students, but the management is really bad at responding to the needs of their tenants. Other apartment buildings in La Jolla that we've lived in never gave us problems like this because the Leasing Office was present and helpful. The parking situation is also very inconvenient, as there is no guest parking and space is limited. read more

I lived at Torrey Pines Village from August 2007 to March 2009 and enjoyed my time there. If it wasn't for a corporate relocation, I would probably still be there. I had a lower level apartment with a patio that overlooked the park below. The grounds were mostly always clean and anytime that something did not work right, maintenance fixed the problem - usually in about a day. I had two cars and could only park one of them in the lot but there is overflow parking in the UTC shopping center parking lot. It was really convenient living there around the holidays because I would not have to drive around and look for parking if I wanted to go shopping. Just a few steps away from Torrey Pines Village is an entrance to the mall and Macy's. read more

A peaceful and quiet community nestled under the pine trees and very conveniently located next to the mall! I loved living here. It is gated which is a huge plus. Everyone is kind and keeps to themselves. The staff are all very caring and attentive. I would definitely recommend living here for young professionals or families. There's no loud parties or anything of that sort, for the most part anyways. Two of my neighbors have lived there for many years and there's a good reason for it. Torrey pines village is a hidden gem, with good size apartments and fair rental prices. There's a walking path to a small grassy park behind the complex too, that was great to have close by. Disappointed with misleading information regarding availability. The loft floor-plans cannot be toured. Ilsa in the reception office was not very forthcoming about information on when units are expected to be available or even how many residents were at the end of their lease (she did have a welcoming demeanor otherwise). The 1-star review is because I was asked to come in closer to my actual move in date to find about more about availability and when I did, I was told there is nothing available and that they closed the waiting list. Also did not receive email responses or replies to VMs on any of several attempts. Finally, the rental prices on most websites are apparently for the older un-upgraded units. I guess the place is good, the rent is reasonable, but it is clear for all to see that the owner really pushes for maximum achievable profit at the cost of blatantly misleading and inconveniencing potential future residents (appendix A - in the 'rent' field of the waiting list form, I was 'encouraged' to fill in a range instead of a fixed number. Lived there for two years, might've stayed if it weren't for the wanderlust :) The Location- Great location! Walk to all the buses that stop at UTC, or pick up Red Robin's on the way home from work (dangerous for your diet). The food court and Starbucks at the mall (dangerous for your wallet!) and the 24 Hour Fitness are all just a few minutes' walk away, too. Costa Verde center across the street has more food, a bookstore, and the post office (open til 7pm!!)... Really, great location. Tucked in the back corner of two main streets, so you don't hear sirens or jetplanes all the time... but you can get to the 5, 805, and 52 within 5 minutes. The Staff- Friendly enough, but they've changed recently... Caesar and Justin the grounds guys are really nice, but I didn't have much interaction with the new manager before we left. The Place- Definitely not high end, but clean and well-kept. The type of place with painted cabinets instead of wooden ones, sliding closet doors that only have rails on top. Only one parking spot reserved and its not covered AND most are under trees. (SAP- no bueno.) Upside, TONS of guest parking on the street and at the mall! Pool and hot tub are nice and clean, though the BBQs didn't work the whole two years we were there. They do keep the laundry room open as late as your clothes are in there though, which is pretty nice considering it technically closes at 10. Maintenance is on-site. Cats allowed, small complex of mostly families and students- not a party place, which I liked! A pretty good deal for the space and amenities, I highly recommend the complex (in fact, I did convince a handful of friends to become neighbors.. and to the best of my knowledge they enjoyed their stay too!) I left my one apartment in Torrey pines village after living here with my husband over 3 years. This apartment was my home and not just a place to live on thanks to the great management team , Blanca , the manager complex and Ceaser, the maintenance manager When I was looking for a place to live , there were many apartment complexes in the area. But Torrey pines village was one of the places that the rent was reasonable. The place, which is 1 min away from the mall safe and secure and they recently have changes the lights in the street. There is no washer or dryer in the unit but after living here quit time I can say that there are more advantages than disadvantage and when you are doings you laundry is not that busy. But again, this place couldn't become my home without having this staff. They take care of problems really quick and there are non problems with them. Blanca is a wonderful person and she will do her best that you will feel home. She is a professional and the nicest manager that I had the opportunity to meet in this complex. Ceaser , the maintenance guy is also super friendly and will take care of any problem that you have . I will recommend to everyone that need a place that called Home in a reasonable price and in Great location! read more

I've lived here for the past year and it's been an enjoyable experience. It was really nice moving in and was a welcoming environment. It was clean and everything worked. The pool is always clean and management is nice. The location is prime as it is right behind UTC and also all the buses for UCSD. If you're hungry and don't want to drive, you can just go to UTC and buy something it. Centrally located right near the freeways, there isn't a problem getting to where you need to go. Although there is only one assigned spot, there is a lot of parking situated in the dedicated UTC parking lot that allows overflow parking. Overall, I recommend the complex. read more

I lived here for a year and have zero complaints. Except sometimes the couple the floor above me made loud shaking noises with their bed. Payments are done through an online portal. Easy. Parking. There are assigned spaces for each apartment but additional stickers are provided for parking in the UTC lot (yellow spaces only). The furthest you might park is not very far.. And will always be available. Community laundry and mail area. Gets the job done. Would be asking too much for in-home laundry at the low prices this place rents for. Location is prime. You are within sniffing distance of red robin and a quick walk to UTC. And of course its food court (fastest is around the back passing the dog park). Staff are very friendly, prompt, and professional. All requests were handled more quickly than expected and done well. Blanca gave me a call a month after I'd moved out to let me know that I'd received a small package. I had forgotten to reroute my mail and was able to receive it promptly because of her immediate call. Highly recommend this place if you can live with taking a walk to do your laundry. read more

I've never had any negative experiences with any of the management nor the maintenance workers here. Blanca and Cesar are humble and nice people. They will accommodate your every need, living in TPV for nearly a whole year now I've learned a few things. 1. If you have an issue don't delay to report it. 2. Living in a loft is your best option. 3. there a lot of natural light here so your electric bill shouldn't be that high. 4. You are close to everything, actually besides the mall directly in front of the complex everything is 15 minutes away. Yes the appliances are old and the building as well but you're not going to get any place at this price for the location we are in. Hated living here since day 1, I have mobility problems and asked for closer parking and it has been ignored, constantly getting harassed by residents and management about a service dog. Residents are very nosy always staring into your home. If you're not a morning person you'll hate it Bc there's some kind of loud noise every other day. Amazing location and the price is fair. But it's not somewhere I'd recommend if you want it to feel like home. Supervisor Cesar has disrespected me countless times and also told another resident where I lived (highly unacceptable and an invasion of privacy) especially as a small young Asian female with all these hate crimes going around it made me scared because I live on my own. I have been trying to email and call the Sunrise Management company to get answers since the leasing office is not helpful but no luck /: very disappointed I can't even feel comfortable in my own home. My roommates and I have placed an apartment on the waitlist with a deposit fee of $100 around May of 2016. They told us the fee was 100% refundable whenever we decided to take our names off the waitlist. Because no apartments were available near the month of our hold, my roommates and I have decided to withdraw our name from the waitlist in August 2016. The leasing office workers informed us that the money will be refunded via check in mail within a week. However, it is now October 6th and the money is nowhere to be seen. Torrey Pines has a horrible communication system. They are literally almost impossible to get a hold of. I don't know what the previous reviews about the manager is all about, but from my personal experience, this community has one of the worst customer services. I've called numerous times and left my contact information with them for them to call me back, but I have not received a single call/message from them. I've sent emails and even visited in person several times, only to find that the office is either empty, the manager is almost never at her office, and they seem to be understaffed in where none of the workers were able to assist me in my problem. I've checked out their floorplans and apartments and location, and taking every aspect of the living condition into consideration, you will get what you pay for in this apartment community. read more

My wife and I lived here for one year, excellent complex beautifully maintained by Caesar and crew. The office staff Blanca and Marilyn were so helpful and friendly at all times. The buildings are situated so there is privacy and the setting in pine trees was beautiful and they provided shade in the summer heat. Facilities include beautiful pool and hot tub, and a very clean laundry room. I would have no hesitation recommending this as a great place to live. read more

I lived at this property for about two years. Blanca is awesome and the Cesar and maintenance crew is great! When I had issues or questions Blanca would address them right away. Cesar and the maintenance crew would always fix repairs right away. I loved my one bedroom loft apartment. It was cozy comfy and the area was safe and secure. These apartments are right behind the UTC mall it made it very convenient to walk across the parking lot. To Blanca: Sorry Blanca for my late review. I was the lady with all the plants in the balcony (first floor). Cesar probably remembers me as the lady that made a small green house on the balcony. . I give it a three becuase I love the location, the apartments nice, and theres bbq's, very nice ones at that and pool n jaquizzi available. However, the manager Amber is horrible and a liar. She'll try to trick you into saying there's only but one apartment available to get you to rent just that one, then never show you the apartment cus someomes still leaving in it, but demamd the security deposit before they move out or you lose you spot to getting it. Sounds fishy. Secondly youll move in and notice everythings falling apart argue with her over and over till some things get fixed and some dont. I am a UCSD student and lived in this apartment during my entire collage years. They got best price(200/month less than most apartment). and they have the best location, this complex is like inside UTC mall, only 3mins walk from UTC transit center, 5mins walk to 24hour fitness, and you can always get some food in the food court if you don't feel like cooking. Its not close to any street so it's very quite. one more thing, you can walk to UTC on Black Friday and shopping all night long without worry about parking and so on. They respond to work orders very fast, though there are only two workers on duty, they normally come to do the repairing within a day. Most of the fixings are free of charge. If there are anything we are doing wrong, like puting too much stuff on the patio or making too much notice, the manager will come and remind us before they put any fine on us. I really appreciate this because some apartment will just charge you without notice. Other good thing about this apartment is they have LOTS OF parking spots(UTC Parking), not in the complex, but very close. so my friends won't have to worry about parking when they visit me. The laudatory room here is very clean, and all machines are functional all the time. they have new washer and dryers installed three years ago and those machines works way better than those older ones in other apartment complex. Other things I like including fresh coffee everyday, apartment party on Halloween and free wifi in leasing office. Last thing that surprise me, was they didn't charge anything when I move out, and give all my deposit back( yes, not even cleaning fee). the reason is they are going to remodel my apartment after I move out, so they decide to cover all costs. It is not easy to find a apartment that are not trying to take your deposit away nowadays. The only thing not so good is that my apartment is surrounded by other apartments so that there are no sun light in the room. But that is ok with me since I am usually at school in day time. read more

Excellent customer service! Went on a tour of the place recently with my fiancee, looking for a good place to live. I was most impressed! Marilyn was wonderful and answered all of our questions and showed us all of the amenities. It is a quiet, well-kept property with plenty of parking. I was most appreciative of the fact that, even though we're looking for a one-bedroom apartment (and none were available to view), they gladly let us see a two bedroom and on short notice! They genuinely seem to care about the property and about the tenants. It helps too, that I have a friend who lives here and speaks highly of it. Although I have not yet lived here, I really hope an apartment opens up for us! read more

I lived for three years at TPV and I never had a moment I didn't love it. The groundskeeping is great. They have a functional and useful pool and clubhouse. The leasing office was always helpful. Maintenance always fixed any issues quickly. The location is quiet and in an amazing location. Being close to UTC is pretty fantastic, especially during the holidays. There is also a great park and walking paths just behind the complex. The rent is fair and the layouts are really interesting and functional. Great Location but everything else goes downhill apart from it. There is no inbuilt laundry, no covered parking and no ac in the apartment. Also Blanca and Caesar are not responsive at all. Further they will make up any excuse to not give you your deposit money back. I was stuck without my key one whole night and maintenance didn't respond. When I left they said that my bathroom was dirty due to steam of shower and charged 100 bucks for repainting. If it was steam they could' ve just cleaned it. read more

I lived at this property for 6 years and the staff really does make a difference. Blanca in the office and Cesar and Luis in Maintenence really made a temporary apartment living situation feel like a home. They all went way out of their way to address any concerns I had and made me feel valued and cared for as a resident. Maintenance issues are pretty common in older apartments and they addressed the issue immediately, often the day of the report. Each of them went out of their way to get to know me and say hi. They really do care for the people they are serving and it shows. I had moved literally every year prior to finding this complex and planned on doing the same, but the office staff is what kept me there as long as I was. The location is great for access to everything without a car, and the rent is quite reasonable for the size of the units and the area, but I'd be lying if I said the office staff wasn't the best reason to live here. read more

I lived in Torrey Pines village for 3 years and it was a wonderful place to live. The staff is kind and responsive. Any issues are always resolved right away. The apartments are nice, spacious and very affordable. It's also a great location - central to everything in San Diego and right next to the UTC mall (which has been recently renovated and it's incredible!). I needed to move out to be closer to my job, but I wish I could have stayed. I would highly recommend this complex to anyone looking. It doesn't get any better than this! read more

I've been living in this apartment complex since August '09, and it's a great location - everything is within walking distance and it's close to nearly every local bus route as well! (Great for UCSD students). The apartments have great floor plans, and the upstairs apartments with vaulted ceilings give the place a much more roomy and luxurious feel. Be aware if you have same concern of me: noise. I have lived here in almost two year. The first year experience is mostly positive like others said, but past half year is simply a nightmare. I really want to (and used to) like this apartment . The location is convenient, the management and facility are good. However, please notice this apartment on side of the Mall. If your apartment happens located close to the Mall like me, there are things needed to be concerned. First, there are two store in the Mall are remodeling close to our place recently. (one of them are the shinny new Zara store to be open soon, I will never visit that store) The construction work basically start at early morning. At first 5:00 am or earlier since March this year. We reflected to management level and they negotiated with Mall that all the construction should be started at 7:00am since this is resident area. However, now is October and I am assure you that I am still waked up almost everyday by them every morning around 5-7. Most of the time the worker basically chatting loudly early around sometime 5-7 and start the work with heavy truck or tools near 7 (note: I said "near", frequently 6 something). It doesn't help much for our sleep quality. Updated: 10/9 7:30am, one of construction's wonderful machine: I measure 80dBA in my aprtment, (60-70dBA if I close all windows). Second, there are trucks moving around in the early morning to offload the goods for the Mall, it used to be ok since there are different locations to offload the stuffs. However, now the Mall is undergoing reconstruction for the big parking lots (not until next year?). Most truck will offload stuffs very close to the apartment. The frequency of Truck moving by withing meters of our room in the early morning (5-7 am) is increasing and believe me, they are damn loud. So, I personally won't recommend this place until the construction is over. In fact, many neighborhood move out due to the reason I stated. If you find the vacancy place is closed to the Mall. Being able to sleep well is the simple most important function for an apartment. And this place simply cannot deliver it. To local management staffs: I think you are great, mostly the problem I stated here is due to the Mall, not you. However, I feel responsible to point out some facts which not shown in this reviews. And I these are something apartment management company really should aware, part of rooms are (like my apartment) simply not adequate to live in recent month. read more
