    Barria tacos
    Mark O.

The verde salsa/hot sauce might have been the best I've ever had. The broth that accompanied the tacos was delicious as well. I thought about drinking the cup, but wasn't sure if that's rude...? I enjoyed how the cilantro and onions were served on the side; I was slightly disappointed that red onions were used. The tortillas were cooked appropriately and the bowl of chips was plenty for one individual. They also have horchata! Signage seemed to indicate this is a newer addition. For some reason the staff that served me seemed tense and nervous the entire time. They were never rude though and checked in appropriately. I'm glad I stopped in--their advertising on the blue sign on I-90 was a life changer...had simply planned on McDonalds.

The enchiladas were amazingly delicious and the service was excellent. I'll be back soon!

Excellent genuine Mexican food. Fast service! We were seated and immediately served their complimentary salsa and warm chips. Skip the McDonald's and Taco John's and support this small family owned business! You won't regret it.

Ground beef in my taco salad was yuck! Supposed to be shredded beef. Counting on Customers who are just passing through, and never return.

This WAS our go-to steakhouse in the Sioux Falls area…read more And yes, I emphasize "was" sadly. Located about thirty minutes north of Sioux Falls in the small farming community of Flandreau, this little steakhouse became one of those hidden gems my husband and I found ourselves returning to whenever we had a serious craving for a good steak without dealing with the more corporate chain atmosphere back in the city. Unfortunately, the owner sold the restaurant earlier this year, and as of now no new buyer has reopened it. Which honestly makes me sad. There was something wonderfully unpretentious about this place. It was tucked quietly into a residential part of town near the local athletic fields and open farmland that stretch out with that classic small-town South Dakota feeling. You wouldn't necessarily expect one of the state's better steak experiences to be sitting there so modestly among homes and fields. But somehow, that made it feel even more authentic. The service was always warm, friendly, and deeply local in the best possible way. You never felt rushed or treated like just another table. It had that comfortable small-town hospitality where people genuinely seemed happy you came. And the steaks? Consistently very good. Were they the greatest steaks we've ever had in our lives? No. But they were reliably well-prepared, flavorful, satisfying, and honestly far better than many of the larger steak chains around Sioux Falls. The kitchen understood proper preparation and seasoning without overcomplicating things. There is a reason this place developed such a strong reputation over the years. The restaurant earned statewide recognition and frequently appeared in discussions of South Dakota's best steakhouses, drawing people from well beyond Flandreau itself. Including us. We happily made the drive many times because we knew we were likely going to leave happy. I truly hope someone eventually reopens the place and preserves what made it special. Small-town restaurants with genuine character, loyal followings, and heartfelt hospitality are becoming harder and harder to find.

My family has been coming here for years and we all order the same thing every time we come, and it's always phenomenal! The beef is SOOO tender, it literally melts in your mouth. And don't get me started on the wild rice. It's cooked to perfection and it's so buttery and flavorful. Atmosphere: Bergen Bar & Grill is a smaller restaurant that's first come first serve -- no reservations. You put your name and phone number on a notebook and they call you when your table is ready. Depending on the time you arrive, it can be a longer wait. However, they have a lovely patio where you can wait for your table OR you can hang out in your car. They do serve drinks on the patio which is a nice touch! One other thing to note, they are cash/check only. No credit cards so plan accordingly. Overall, I highly highly recommend Bergen Bar & Grill! You won't be disappointed.

What we discovered was that they have limited weekend Lunch hours (11:30 - 1:30) and a more conventional burgers and sandwiches menu. It also wasn't nearly as crowded as the evening sittings can be. I'll still rate Bergen at 5 because it is a great steak dinner choice. However, their more conventional Lunch might not be worth the journey out here for some folks. We did have a nice time out here. Service was neighborhood friendly and efficient, while Gayle's steak sandwich and my German Patty Melt were very tasty. We both chose Onion Rings as our side, which always taste great going down, but sometimes linger afterwards. Their bar choices continue to improve, while Bergen remains Cash or Check only.

Well, look no further. This no-frills steakhouse specializes in dry aged beef, is James Beard award winning, has great cocktails, and still serves you a relish tray while you wait for your meal. For those of you under the age of 35, a relish tray, often consisted of carrots, celery, pickles, and cubed cheddar cheese like this one. They also will bring you some bread and butter if you would like. In my opinion, you should definitely opt for the tenderloin, but I'm not sure there is a bad steak option on the menu. They also have seafood and even sandwich sandwiches including a burger so there's something for everyone! It's family friendly and although the decor will remind you of your grandma's house, no grandparent I have ever met could put out steaks like this. Visit the ice cream capital of the world and make sure to save room for a steak!
