I ordered takeout from Kathmandu while visiting Sioux Falls. Indian is one of my favorite cuisines, but for a smaller city I was quite impressed! You have to order the vegetable samosas. Even delivered, they were hot and crispy, not soggy at all. The seasoning inside wasn't too earthy, but was full of flavor. They also came with two dipping sauces. I also really enjoyed the garlic naan. You can tell they use fresh garlic and the oven flavor was phenomenal. I ordered chicken makhani, or butter chicken, which is usually my go-to the first time I'm ordering from an Indian restaurant. It had a little more tomato flavor than I prefer, but on the whole the chicken was juicy and the sauce tasted good. Don't skip gulab jamun for dessert! Not too heavy on the cardamom, just a perfect hint. I actually don't have any photos to share because everything was so delicious I forgot to pause to snap a few. A very good sign! read more

We ordered via DoorDash. The food was hot when delivered. I've had vegetable samosas several times from other Indian restaurants and unfortunately, these didn't compare. It seemed the dough was homemade but what ruined it for me was the filling was underdone (some hard pieces). While eating the butter chicken, I bit into a large pod (I'm assuming cardamom) but seems there were other things in mixed in as well--it was about the size of a quarter. Also found a hard piece of what appeared to be bone in the chicken. The flavors were excellent, the naan/kulcha were good--but didn't outweigh the other parts of the meal. As a fresh transplant to a relatively small midwestern city, you get curious as to what amenities are available to you. I was out in the area, and Indians food sounded good, so I figured this place was worth checking out. I was not disappointed. The inside is very clean, with all tables set up with flatware and glasses. I ordered chicken vindaloo and garlic naan, both items came fairly quickly. The naan itself had a great flakiness to it, it reminded me more of pizza crust than a general flatbread. I do feel like the garlic aspect of it was a tad underwhelming, but that may be to your individual taste. The vindaloo was excellent though. It doesn't blow my mind in terms of what I've tried before, it's just a very good take on something I know I enjoy. It's a hit of a trek to the exurbs of Sioux Falls for Kathmandu, but I know for a fact I plan on going back there. read more

Excellent service. We came at 445 pm and there were few people there. It started filling up later though. We are vegetarian so we got the samosa chat for appetizer , tandoori roti and navratna korma and baingan bharta was yummy. We also got the garlic naan. We will definitely come again. read more

On the far east side of Sioux Falls, it's a bit of a drive but worth it! They have a splendid lunch buffet to try their many dishes. They make best and most tender chicken curry I've had in my life. Chicken tikka masala was good as well, flavorful and perfectly spiced. Really tasty naan bread as well. Generous well seasoned dishes- the paneer was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was tidy and relaxing, and the staff were kind and considerate. I wish I'd heard of this place sooner- as I tend to stay on the west side of the city, but neither of the other Indian food places compare. Definitely take the drive and give this wonderful restaurant a try. read more

Visited twice each time was the same. If you're looking for quality Indian food, keep looking as Kathmandu cannot provide what you are seeking. Veg briyani was very oily and lacked flavor. The Naan bread was dry and seemed stale. My partner had similar issues with her choices. You can do better than this. read more

Visited Kathmandu Indian Cuisine on August 20, 2021 with my boyfriend. The inside had beautiful table settings but almost too much of the red decor. There was one table of 3 and us. The front desk phone rang nonstop and it was obnoxiously loud. The waiter only addressed my boyfriend, never me (I am female). It was really awkward and uncomfortable. Our food was interesting. My boyfriend ordered Chicken Bhuna. It arrived in a small metal dish. I ordered Chicken Tikka, which came out like fatijas at a Mexican restaurant. We were not given a knife in our silverware so I had to use my fork and spoon to cut my large pieces of chicken. His dish was very unappetizing in looks and it was messy to eat with a fork. I'm so surprised that this place wasn't more busy when we went to lunch on a Saturday. We had the cheese and garlic naan (which was life changing), the veggie samosas were fabulous, and the lamb tikka masala was really great. I ordered the potato saag, and it was okay. I took it home and I think I might repurpose it into a spinach dip. The staff was really nice and the food made it out to us pretty quickly. Overall, we really enjoyed it. We had never had Indian cuisine before, so decided to give it a try. It's completely unique and quite good. I'd recommend "mild" on the spicy scale unless you really like it hot. I ordered medium and it was a little more than I expected. Still very good food, though. The service was fast and friendly. We will surely visit again. read more

We read all these great reviews & thought we were in for a great Indian. We ordered & were told 20 minutes to pickup. Hubby went in 28 minutes later and it wasn't ready...no big deal but the employee looked perplexed and asked him what I ordered. I do have a feeling though that they whipped it up in the 10 minutes longer that he waited for it in their restaurant. I say this because the red sauce on the chicken tikka masala was very thick and pasty, like a super condensed soup or some form of concentrate. We've eaten at Indian restaurants all over the world and never had one so thick and rich, yuck! The container was also only half full so we felt rather cheated on that. Then the garlic naan we ordered was not garlic at all but was a thick hard chewy tasteless bread that was not warm nor fresh. What a disaster!! It is the first time in history that we have ever discarded an Indian. We usually always keep our leftovers for a second meal as we LOVE itThis truly was a 1 star experience BUT we are showing some mercy and grace as other Yelpers seem to have had totally different experiences. read more

This has to be one of the worst Indian/Nepali restaurants I have ever experienced. We ordered the mixed grill and paneer tikka masala from the Indian menu, and chow mein and chicken momos from the Nepali menu. Everything was extremely bland. The mixed grill barely had any seasoning. The paneer tikka masala was just tomato sauce and cream. I thought maybe the Indian food wouldn't be as good but they might be better with their native Nepali food. The momos were terrible! They were only edible once we coated them in the tangy sauce accompanying them. I have had momos multiple times and they've never been this bad. The chow mein was basically flavored with tomato ketchup. Please avoid this place until they get their act together. read more

Nepalese as well as Indian dishes on the menu. Great flavor, but I recommend on your first visit to stick to mild rather than medium or spicy versions until you can calibrate your taste buds. Truly enjoyable meal. Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful. Chana Masala also very good with a wonderful deep orange/red color. Plenty of basmati rice to go around. The Mango lassi was thick and not overly sweet. The garlic naan came out hot with a wonderful garlic aroma and the raita for dipping was perfect. The vegetable samosa's were huge and the accompanying sauces accented them perfectly. Excellent noon buffet!!! Wait staff is very friendly and concerned about our dining experience. They even explained some of the dishes.
