Thank goodness a Mexican restaurant like this showed up in town. We were having to drive to Paxton or Mahomet for decent Mexican before they opened up. Hands down the best restaurant salsa I've ever had. I don't even look at the menu anymore; I just order whatever is the special because everything is always delicious and creative. By no means is this the best Mexican food I've ever had, but Los Caminos brings some different flavors and cuisine to Gibson City, which I can appreciate! In my visits here, I've had a wide range of experiences ranging from mediocre to fantastic. I guess the day you come really matters here! In terms of general authenticity, I think they're fairly authentic! The pollo loco is a fairly safe item to choose from, if you're looking for something simple and tasty. It's basically an ACP, arroz con pollo (rice and chicken). The chicken is typically cooked well and the cheese is gooey and delicious. The rice isn't that impressive in my opinion though. In fact, there was a day when the restaurant was going to be closed for an extended period of time and the rice they served that evening was some of the worst I had ever had. The rice tasted old, the texture was gummy and it definitely wasn't fresh. On the opposite end of the spectrum, their chimichangas are in my opinion, one of their best items. They're fried to perfection, the filling ratio is perfect and the flavors blend together. On my last visit, I ordered the taco salad and I found it to be just okay. The chicken was really salty, but the rest of the salad was fine! I think Los Caminos' weakest quality is the service. They always seem to be stretched thin and that leads to long wait times. However, given the lack of competition in the city, I think Los Caminos will continue to serve the public for a long time. They certainly get the job done! read more

Come here if you like salt. That's all this place is. Just salted food with more salt added in case you didn't get enough salt with your salted beef. I thought it was a one time thing, but after my third attempt to eat their food and still walking away feeling like I had drank a quart of seawater, I decided enough is enough. The food is disgusting. There is so much salt in it you can't eat it. A friend and I went for dinner there and both of us left almost the whole plate. If you like so much salt it burns your throat, go for it. We told the girl about it and she said she never heard that. She didn't even offer to take something off. My guess is she did hear folks say that before. Poor customer service. We'll never go back. Don't waste your money. read more

Los Caminos is a favorite here in Gibson City. The food is delicious and served hot. Sometimes they are so busy but they still do a great job. They always make me a custom black bean burrito. It is always perfect the way I order it. The chips and queso are delicious with a margarita on the rocks. I look forward to being there again soon! read more

We've given this place multiple tries and every time we go the service is horrible! For example, the last time we went our waitress brought our food and she forgot our tortillas that came with it. We asked her for them and she went over to take another tables order. She went back to the kitchen and never showed back up at our table. Keep in mind.. we still couldn't start eating our food. We finally had to get up and go to the front and ask for our tortillas. And then they never come by and ask if you want drink refills. It happens every time!! We never go back! read more

I had a good lunch here and great service.the complimentary salsa was homemade and very good. I got the burrito grande which was 12 inches of good eating.I got it with chorizo and that hit the spot. The service was excellent and the waitresses were very nice. I'll be back again. read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant. Living in the Joliet area I eat out a lot of areas; Joliet, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Oak Brook,.... Whenever we are passing near Gibson City we try and stop at Los Caminos. They have several dishes I consider as good as any place I've been; Pollo ala Diablo, Acapulco Especial, El Molcajete, all incredible! Drinks are good, salsa fresh. Our friends often get the salad with fish and I'll be trying that next trip. If you are in the area worth the trip and a Gibson City highlight. read more

Took about an hour for the food to come, my chicken was completely burnt and tasted awful.

Very hit and miss. On the plus side, the lime margaritas are superb, and the booths are roomy and kind of private. It' s a comfortable and festive place. On the downside, I' ve gotten takeout twice and both times it was awful- cold and not flavorful. I got an enchilada, burrito and quesidia combo and it was all just a bunch of glop, you couldn' t tell any of it apart. I will be back, but not for takeout. read more

I was so excited to try Los Caminos after all of the positive word of mouth around Ford and McLean counties, but came away utterly disappointed.
