We have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant since moving to Hendersonville from California. We came on a Tuesday night and had the best service from Juan. I ordered the fish tacos and they were great. The chips and salsa are very good, the salsa is thick, and the chips crispy and warm. The fish tacos were great and seasoned well. My partners ordered the avocado chicken tacos and the California burrito which were very good, the meat was seasoned well and overall it was a great meal. This place gets Better all the time. I keep trying different dishes and we come here 3 times a week probably. I just went to the restroom for the first time here and the bathrooms are very very nice and clean. That's a big deal to me. The people that work here couldn't be nicer and more charismatic. Packed house but great as usual! All around good food, clean and extremely friendly staff. Although I'm not vegetarian I do like the occasional veggie option. Food mediocre, service non-existent. They were quick to seat us but then very, very slow with everything else. The salsa is not bad, but the queso is watered down and the chips are too thick and not very fresh. Sorry to say, went here for Cinco de Mayo. Was charged $30.00 for 2 skinny margaritas (could've bought a bottle of tequila for that). Waited 21/2 hours for our food. No Cinco de Mayo specials! No 2 for 1's. When we asked the manager to look at the bill he agreed with the amounts. People were waiting over 2 hours for take outs. Very saddening, we used to like coming here but if they treat their regulars like this then we'll find another place. Waited an hour before our order was even taken. Wouldn't normally leave a negative review but when the manager would not even speak to us, I felt I had no choice. Ordered the 2x1 margaritas and when we went to pay, the manager said it didn't apply to Tues nights (and their sign clearly said Mon-Wed). My husband tried to talk to the manager about it and he was EXTREMELY rude! My husband told him he lost our business due to his attitude, and his response was "that's okay with me" Wow, so much for customer service. The decor is fun and inviting. Staff was readily available and courteous. I had the carne asada and shrimp cocktail. Steak was a little dry but flavorful. Went here for some dinner with my wife. Recently moved here from CA and was hoping for some real Mexican food and they delivered. Great service, great menu. I ordered the enchiladas with cheese sauce and that's why it's a four instead of a five for me - the cheese sauce was pretty watery and overpowered the meat but I still ate it all. This is one of the many Mexican Restaurants in Gallatin, but in my opinion, the best! They have a more unique menu compared to all the other ones (though still pretty standard Mexican fare). Their lunch menu is also quite large. El Cantarito (or as it sometimes comes up, Los Cantaritos) is certainly not the quickest Mexican, but that's what happens when everyone else in town knows this one is the best. They are usually quite busy at lunch. Their outside patio is fantastic if the weather cooperates, and very nicely designed. I have been on a chicken or steak fajita taco salad kick as of late, and this one doesn't disappoint. Their authentic steak tacos (with onion and cilantro) are phenomenal. I have had such up and down expeirences with this place! It's no where near my home, but it's very close (2 min) from my aunt's mother in law. She's older and we try to go out to eat once a month or so, and i drive to her because I know she doesn't like to drive. I think a main service issue is they are in such a rush to get people in and out they don't check their tables to see if anyone needs anything. The first time we were there it took forever just to get plates, napkins and silverware. If you ask for a margarita and a water you only get a margarita. They gave my food to my aunt and completely forgot hers. So she accudently ate half of mine before realizing she had the wrong thing. The food was good though. The next time I went i just ordered a burrito to go and a small cheese dip. It somehow came to $18. Also at first it was the wrong order, but they caught the mistake before I left with the wrong food. I'm guessing I was charged for the wrong food. My husband and I met Connie up there a couple weeks ago. Again, it took forever just to get napkins, plates and silverware. But the food was good. I got a chicken chimichanga. He had a burrito. She got shrimp fajitas. We started with the chori dip. It's awesome. This last time I'd say was a disaster. We went Saturday night and ended up being seated on the patio. (Yes the patio, in January, in 10 degree weather) they have outside heating lamps but they only do so much. I wanted to get the chori dip with the chips and salsa but never had a chance to order it until he took our food orders. I asked if it could come out first. It didn't. It came with the food and who is going to eat chips and dip with their meal in front of them? No one. So it was a waste. I did have a little. The meat was really burnt. They again forgot my order (grilled chicken tacos) and side of sour cream. He finally brought the tacos (chicken completely charred and hard to eat) still forgot my sour cream. Finally brought that. As he was running from the table I asked for another margarita on the rocks. He came back with a frozen one but was gone before I could point it out. If they would take 2 minutes to just ask if anyone needs anything it would save them so much time from running back and forth. I could have said I don't have my tacos or sour cream, also I'd like another margarita. Instead, because he runs away so fast after dropping one item I had to ask for 3 different things 3 different times. It's ridiculous. I've been serving for 18 years so i understand being busy but I also understand getting everything done in one trip so I'm not wasting my time and my guests have all they need. The food was disappointing this last trip. All my meats were burnt, the dip came late, we were sitting outside. We might take a break on this place and try somewhere new. read more

This place used to have great food and decent service. Unfortunately, the service has gotten progressively worse. Today our food took over an hour and they weren't busy when we got there. The server only came back one time after taking our order. A group of 18 that came in half an hour after us was seated and served before we got our fajitas. Manager was rude and unsympathetic. We have had dinner there before and it was very good. The salsa was delicious. We went back, renovation was in process and the fumes and smell were beyond nauseating. It was all we could do to keep from heaving. We were gaging. We could not get that horrid smell out of our noses and heads. The seats were redone and when we sat down it was just a board no padding, not comfortable at all. The staff were not attentive even though it was not busy at all. They brought our food but we had to leave we had headaches and severe nausea. NO ONE even asked how the food was or much less why we were turning green. This is our family's go-to restaurant for authentic Mexican food. Their food is "homemade" delicious, prices are reasonable, and the menu offers greater variety than most places. It's so good that when our kids come in from out of town El Cantarito is always their first choice for dinner out. They make great margaritas and have Happy Hour several nights/week. So think night club ambiance with attentive service. This is the low down on the strip mall jewel tucked in the Fairvue area of Gallatin. I eat here frequently and I will give you the goodies. The remodeled and the siesta vibe is strong. The bar looks like an early nighties album cover and it's cheesy, but super cute it works. There is a patio and live music on Thursday (they've been stuck in Mexico) hopefully they'll be back soon. The main dining room has cool lighting and big booths. The service is always superb! The fare is yum, not as good as casa (local Mexican) still very close! There are tons of options, the combos are the best choice! Now for my only "feedback" the price! My, my, my plan on 15 per person easily and if you order kids meal you'll be fined 2.00 charge. They have to pay for that remodel somehow. Went in here before class the other day to grab a bean and cheese burrito to have for dinner on break. Lets just say their bean and cheese burrito was not what I was envisioning, instead of just being wrapped in paper as I expected they were in a container smothered in cheese sauce. Due to the lack of portable convenience I wasn't able to eat until after school, when I finally did I enjoyed it. The cheese sauce is delicious here but the beans could have used a little more flavor and been a touch less runny. The chips and salsa here were good as well. I've lived just down the road from this place for some time and never set foot in there until today. The hubby and I always drive to Dos Margaritas or Casa Veija. I think we'll just stick to this neighborhood Mexican restaurant from now on. We were there at around 4:30 on a Thrs. At Los Cantaritos I have found Very Good Mexican food at reasonable prices and the daily specials can save a few dollars too. My family and I often eat there and the service is always friendly, prompt, and courteous. The food is served piping hot from the kitchen and the presentation is pleasing. I went with a big group using a restaurant.com coupon. With 9 of us, we pretty much all had something different and everyone really enjoyed what they got. I would say my dish was the least favorite--I had the chili verde with pork. I thought the verde sauce was a little too tart/sour so I wouldn't get it again but I'm not that familiar with verde.
