    Shrimp Alambres

The food here is amazing and you wouldn't believe how quick the salsa arrives at the table. Literal seconds after you sit down it's there. It's crazy!! The atmosphere is also very cozy and many things to look at. This picture is my favorite dish the shrimp alambres. It's amazing!!!!

Oh this is in my back yard and I'm still finding my way around in Music City Nashville, TN USA. Nevertheless, I was passing by and hubby said let's try this Mexican restaurant, yes of course I agreed. We were seated when we first came in . The restaurant has a nice size of patrons but not too many for lunch time. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Jesus is our waiter and he knows the menu very well. I ordered a Margarita and the number 5 lunch special- taco, chili relleno and rice and beans. Hubby carne asada burrito and rice and beans. Overall the food is delish and I think you should try it out if you like Mexican food!

Love the fried fish that I ordered. So crispy & yummy. Daughter had the beef enchilada & said it was good. Hubby had the chicken & shrimp salad & was not impressed - doused with melted cheese.

One of the best Mexican places in the area. Authentic, reminds me of Cali if you ask for no cheese sauce (but their cheese sauce is yummy!), all good good stuff! Good chips and salsa, good shrimp chimichanga, awesome fajitas, great tacos authentico.... haven't been disappointed yet! Always have great service too. Even take out is done very very well, easy to take home, packed well and all. It's all awesome. Definitely a must try!

El Mezcal Mexican occupies the corner of Hendersonville Marketplace along New Shackle Island Road,…read moreand is a solid spot for Mexican whether dining in or picking up. For those who are looking for Ricardo's...this is the place, but it underwent a rebrand and relocation in the past few years. The restaurant is not large, but being located on the corner of the plaza gives lots of natural light for the long dining room, plus a cool cutout space for the bright bar and there is even a small patio outside of the front door. The space does not give off your standard Mexican restaurant vibes in full, but the essence of it is there and that is good enough! I have dined in, but most of my visits are pickup from an online order. My go-to here is always the Arroz con Queso. Unlike other spots, this comes automatically with peppers and onions, but no tortillas. I 86 the peppers and live without the tortillas. It is a good amount of chicken, rice, onions and queso. Always hits the spot! Along with this, I usually get a bowl of queso, but recently decided to get an order of bean dip...and where has this been my whole life. I kind of knew what to expect, but the ratio of refried bean to queso was absolute perfection! Price point was standard and ran me around $23 for my entree and dip plus tip. Service is always welcoming and friendly, plus they are usually quick with preparation, so never long waits whether dine in or pick up. Overall, really happy to have found El Mezcal. A solid go-to when in Hendersonville!

I swung by on an afternoon for lunch after doing some shopping nearby. The place was not too busy, so I was sat promptly and assisted shortly after. The space is welcoming, themed, bright, well kept and clean. As with any stop at a Mexican spot, queso is always a starter. Priced at $5, the queso was standard, but that does not equal bad. Exactly what I was after. For my meal, I went with the Pollo Mexicano, which is a slight twist on the Arroz con Pollo, as they add sauteed onions and jalapeno peppers. It came in around $15, which was decent given the portion and preparation. The food was nothing special, and could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was still a decent lunch for $20 plus tax and tip. Service was okay. My server popped outside for a good portion of my meal, so I did have to get up and go to the bar at one time for a refill. He apologized and we moved on, no big deal. Overall, solid 3.5 for me. Wouldn't hesitate to come back when in the area, but not going to go out of my way to swing by.

From queso to quesadillas, fish tacos to birria...Pueblo Viejo has all the classics combined with a few house specialties. I usually go with the classic arroz con pollo, but decided to switch it up and go with the Quesadilla El Rey, which featured grilled chicken, cheese, mushrooms and onions, sided with rice. The quesadilla was delicious, well cooked and packed with the goods! Of course before the main, I started with a small queso. The queso was bland and a bit thick for my liking. The complimentary salsa was also nothing special. They both got the job done, but were just okay. The space is small, one large dining room featuring a variety of table setups along with a small bar in the back corner. No frills space, which is duplicated in their food. Service was friendly and timely. Place was clean and well kept. Overall, Pueblo Viejo is a solid 3.5 for me. Happy to go back and enjoy a meal, but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I finally stopped by this spot for a quick bite, and it definitely scratched that West Coast itch. It's a drive through -- but a cool drive through -- not your typical polished chain setup. It feels local, authentic, and full of personality. Vibe: Simple, no frills, and true to its roots. It's the kind of place where you pull up, see a steady stream of cars, and just know you're in for something good. Definitely not fancy, but that's part of the charm. Service: Quick, friendly, and efficient. It's nice to actually talk to a person instead of yelling into a speaker box. You order at one window, then swing around to the other side to pick up your food. The kid who handed me my order couldn't have been more than ten -- or maybe I'm just getting old, lol -- but he was polite and had everything ready right on time. Food & Drinks: I ordered a Cheese Quesadilla, Shrimp Taco, and Fish Taco, and stuck with water to drink. The clear winner was the Cheese Quesadilla -- the cheese inside was rich and creamy, the outside perfectly crisp, and there was this subtle salty kick on the tortilla that made it addictive. Maybe it was butter, maybe a sprinkle of salt, but it worked. The tacos were your classic street-style setup -- onion, cilantro, and soft double corn tortillas. The Shrimp Taco was solid, nothing fancy but tasty. The Fish Taco, though, was a bit of a miss -- light on the fish and kind of bland overall. The salsas made up for it; both the verde and rojo had great flavor and a nice punch. Overall: A good experience and worth checking out if you're in the area. I always pay attention to who's eating somewhere, and the fact that this place draws a strong Hispanic crowd says a lot about its authenticity. As a pescatarian, it's probably not my personal go-to, but I'd absolutely recommend it to my meat-eating friends. Date of visit: 1 November 2025
