After 12 days of pasta, oil and bread, we were looking to shake things up on the palate with some crunch and spice. The tacos at Los Chicos were not authentic "Tex-Mex" as they claim, but the ingredients were fresh. The seasoning was giving more "Florentine" and less "El Paso," but we appreciated the effort. Sone of the best Tex med I've had in Europe (and we spent 3 years in Germany and 2 1/2 years in Belgium). Yes it's going to be a little different than in the US but we were staying 5 weeks in Florence and while loving all the pasta, pizzas and panini, we were craving a little taste of home. It's similar to Chipotle/Qdoba in that you order the meat you want and whether it's tacos, burrito, quesadillas, etc, you pick what toppings go in while you watch him make it. Me and my friend were getting sick of eating pizza and pasta during our prolonged Italy trip, so we decided to checkout El Chico. This isn't an authentic Mexican food spot if that's what you are searching for. This is much more of a tex-mex style of cuisine. The cost was pretty high considering the portion size. I would have liked to get rice and beans included with my burrito for the price I paid. The guac was pretty good though :) Overall I recommend El Chico if you are absolutely craving a different style of food if you are traveling than Italy. Just keep in mind, it's not that good. Move over Chipotle, Qdoba or any other burrito because El Chico's has the best dang burritos you will ever get. *salivates thinking about it* When I was in Florence, I probably went to this place more times than I did anywhere else. Since, it is also close to the main bars, it also made for a pretty good late night food. The burrito is always warm and perfectly done because the person assembling it always puts everything exactly as you want. They then reheat the chicken/rice/steak (anything you want) so your burrito is never mediocre . Since they do not have a waiting staff, sometimes the tables might be dirty but most people just take it to go. They also have tables outside. Burrito was ok but too expensive in my opinion. The nachos were terrible and way too expensive for what you get. However, the worst thing about this place was the fact that they charged us 2 euros to sit down and they didn't even bring us our food or give us utensils. read more

Horrible food! Living in Southern California and having traveled through Mexico, we are pretty familiar with Mexican food. We ordered fajitas and a burrito. Nothing was well seasoned or fresh even. The server put a half spoon worth of "guacamole" on both plates. The rice had gone bad and tasted acidic. The service wasn't good either. read more

Don't go expecting much - but be surprised! The guy running the show seemed overworked and tiered at the end of a long shit on Saturday 25th at 10pm but he took our orders to perfection. Two words: 3am quesadilla. I think that pretty much sums up the El Chico experience. I've been here a few times and it definitely hits the spot. Is it the best Mexican food I've had? Definitely not. Is it good? Yep, especially when it's 4 am and you need a loaded burrito or quesadilla. The price is a little steep, but you do get a lot of food for what you pay for. The chicken quesadilla is yummy and absolutely loaded. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a sit down meal, but it gets the job done for a late night snack. read more

The food is exactly what you'd expect, but don't order a Margarita. I got a tropical fruit Margarita and it was the worst drink I've ever had, and it was 6 euro. It tasted like bad tequila and cough syrup, and they put this group mixture of salt and sugar around the rim. Stick to just a burrito, it hits the spot when you're craving Mexican food but is nothing to write home about. read more
