Happened to be in town briefly this past weekend. Was trying to find a good local place to stop for some dinner. Ending up picking this place. There were quite a few cars in the parking lot as I pulled up, which I thought was a good sign. So I went in, and waited to get a table. A server came from around the corner and asked how many people. It was just me, so I said one. He kinda pointed off in a direction, and said something. I didn't understand, but I think he just meant grab a table, so I went and sat myself. No big deal. I waited a while til a different server came up and asked to take my drink order. Then he came with my drink and took my food order. The food came out quite quickly. I began to eat my meal. The rice was good, and the beans were kinda watery and bland. The entree itself was very salty and also bland otherwise. No real flavor. In fact, it almost tasted overcooked, if I'm being honest. Not very enjoyable. I choked down my meal and finished my drink, and then asked for the check. I am not in any hurry to go back. The service during the meal was pretty few and far between. It was storming!! We looked at places in town to eat, a lot were closed or just not what we wanted. Los Frijolitos was both open and what we wanted!! Julie had two tacos, a fajita chicken and a fajita steak. I had the street tacos that turned out to be birria style tacos. Four tacos with rice and beans along with two sauces a red and a green. The green was wonderful!! Beans are cooked with lard and gives them that down home taste! The rice was good. Service was really good. The place is clean and the staff was super friendly!! read more

The food is bomb. I was alarmed at first bc I ordered off of a menu that wasn't a lunch menu. When I got the portion size I was freaking out. BUT while posting this we received our check and it turns out we weren't charged for menu prices, but lunch pricing instead, so I am happy!! Best Mexican food I've had in a long time. Mango margaritas are my favorite here. 2 for 1 happy hour starts at 5. Los Frijolitos is good for lunch and dinner- pleasant waiters. Always clean and quick. The fajitas are good as are the heuvos rancheros. Waiters are happy to make substitutions when you ask. read more

A friend and I were extremely hungry after leaving the casino. We wanted to eat in the casino but didn't want to wait in the long line. We got into the truck and I immediately opened Yelp to see what we could partake in the area. This place and another place came up, but my friend suggested that we go here (glad we did). We walked into a semi-busy place. We were seated at a booth that I had to get someone to clean again because it was rather sticky. I looked down and noticed there was a wiener on the floor under the table. I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. We waited several minutes before the waitress came back to take our order. I guess she was kind of upset because I had to wipe down the table again. Any-hoo, we placed our order (can't remember what he ordered). I ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and asked them to cook the jalapenos along with the chicken and steak. They brought out chips and salsa. The salsa was great; I can't lie!!! When our food came out, whatever he had looked good and smelled just as great. My fajitas were cooked to perfection and they tasted so darn good. I cleaned my plate. If I would have had any extra tortillas, I would have used them to sop up the left over seasoning in the skillet; don't judge me, lol! All in all, I gave it an A-ok rating because the customer service sucks, the table needed to be cleaned again, and the left over wiener was crazy. We were in Marksville today and decided to order chicken fajitas for two to go and a couple of margaritas. At home, we staring eating and we were amazed. It was so delicious, there was so much food, we ate on one of the fajita order. The salsa is so good. The margaritas were great. Lol, we did not share. For the area this is one of the better restaurants. In a small town it's hard to find good food that isn't fast food. And authentic food at that. Your best food in the area will come from good southern homes with a Cajun/creole flair. However, we are Mexican good enthusiasts and we were pleasantly surprised with this little find. You know it's sad to say I had a issue with my food on today. You pay your hard, earned dollars at a place of business that don't try to make it right. I had the bravo nachos they call it. The chips were stale, the steak was super hard and I couldn't chew it. On top of that they poured a tad of cheese. I called to explain. The waitress said bring it in so we can see it like I had to lie. I went back! Was waited on by owner and explained to him and he just looked at me and said nothing! So the food sucks, and the management does also! Word of advice if you want good quality food???? Don't go there? I didn't even want to click the 1 star. Wish it had a 0 I could've pressed! I don't know w if they ate under new managment or if they have new cooks, but the food as terrible, the service was poor, and the manager was useless. The atmosphere is bright and fun. Lots of seating but it does fill up when they have live music! They also have take-out which is in the form of a drive thru window. Great place for groups and parties, if you can bear stand someone with a little accent (and some of the folks around here can't). Very kind and prompt service, and are understanding and accommodating to those parties who have people arriving at different times (which I had often). Some of the younger waitresses can be a bit cold but I chalk that up to this being their first job - we were all like that at some point. Otherwise, good place. They'll even recommend dishes if you're unfamiliar with the menu. read more

do not recommend this mexican restaurant in avoyelles parish. they take forever to bring your food and don't follow directions. i asked for a water with lemon and they didn't put my lemon. their menu is not truthful either. i asked for guacamole that wasn't spicy and they brought a spicy one. then i said that i asked for a new one, they ignored me. zapotes in bunkie is a lot better!! read more
