This place is amazing !!! We were on a trip to Texas and found this place. Stopped in and had some wonderful food and the service was great !!! I had the hamburger steak with grilled veggies and cajun potatoes. My wife had the Cajun Philly cheesesteak and fries !!! Both of them were delicious !!! We loved it so much that we planned our trip so we could stop on our way back home !!! They have a variety of options on the menu !! And it's reasonably priced !!! DO NOT BE FOOLED! The outside wasn't much to look at and the inside was a bit dated and run down, but the food and service... We had the CENLA SAMPLER and I do not believe I have ever had a more clean fried dish than this! No grease residue. Fried to perfection and delicious! I had the LIL JOHN which was a perfect size and combo of a little bit of everything. The crawfish were cooked brilliantly and seasoned perfect. The shrimp had a wonderful boiled flavor and cooked very well. There was a half length of sausage, not sure the name brand but it was very good! The potatoes were boiled nicely and actually had some boil flavor to them. The only downside to my order was the corn. It was very cold. Not room temperature, but cold. All in all, we don't get into the Alexandria area a lot, but when we do, this is the place to go! They are very family friendly. Great vibe. Definitely recommend! read more

Rank food, rank service. Dont be fooled by a full parking lot, this place is terrible except for maybe crawfish which nearly everyone else was eating. Mine and my wife's dishes were disgusting tasteless slop and hers was essentially devoid of ingredients. I've seen more appealing toilet water than her gumbo. My drink never materialized but they did graciously remove it from the bill. Service was very poor. We paid $9 for five slices of a medium sized fried green tomatoe, almost $2 for a slice of a 30 cent tomato enveloped in some thin tasteless 'Cajun' batter. I came and had crawfish etouffée and bread pudding back to back thinking it was a fluke. It was not. The fried toast and small side salad really made my meal a standout and just the right amount of food. Yes it's a little grimy inside, but the food is superb. Enough said. read more

Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Our waitress was very nice and taught us how to shell the crawfish. She also brought us a few samples to test the spice before we ordered which was very helpful. The bar area was separated from the main dining space which was great since we were dining as a family. Wow. What a find. Looked through Google Ai, Reddit and the local Tribune for some insight on the seafood of Alexandria and we landed here. A real side-of-the-road catch. We ordered the shrimp poboy, fried shrimp platter and Atchaflaya. Authentic Gulf-shrimp was a must. Apparently there was a scandal where some vendors were lying to patrons on source of produce. They passed. Fish however, says "imported" on the menu, but still phenomenal. Everything's got some kick. Wash it down with some sweet tea--also recommend. Grace! What excellent service. The service was disgusting / offensive. I walked into the bar to make an inquiry and was completely ignored for about 5 minutes. A gentleman walked in from outside and was immediately addressed. My wife said they were very good I decided to try the Cajun Nachos. A mix of red beans with chicken & sausage, covered with cheese over chips This was an intriguing fusion of both Tex-Mex and Cajun . Total flop. I live in Fort Worth, so nachos are a staple here. Start at the base, the chips. I don't know what brand or type they used, but they were incredibly soggy and very tough all at the same time. They were not corn tortilla chips. And why would you put lettuce in the middle of chips with hot beans, chicken, sausage corn over it? All it does is wilt the lettuce. The cheese sauce they used was the kind of cheese that you get at a county fair that comes out of a can. The cheese was disgusting kind of greasy. Overall, I wouldn't go back. For starters I want to say, i ordered the gator bites, and before my main dish arrived i placed a second or on the gator bites. Same on the boudin balls. I really enjoyed both and i would return with out question just to order those again. For my main, I went with the Cajun Chicken Alfredo. It was good, but i was expecting more. Like a Cajun seasoning in the Alfredo itself. Or the chicken having a more pronounced Cajun flavor. It was good, but there is room to make it better in my opinion. I think this restaurant really shines more with their gumbo and seafood dishes and the gator bites!! read more

The best thing about this place was our server. She was very sweet and took good care of us. Other than that it was a terrible experience. The food was mediocre. Voodoo shrimp felt like they just threw bottled sauce on bagged shrimp. The chicken was a bit better but really felt like it needed some acid to cut the sweet. The problem was the gumbo. It was just bad. I don't like leaving bad reviews like this but that gumbo tasted stale. Our server was kind enough to take it off our check. So disappointed by a 4 star yelp place. A rustic look for sure. Service was quick and efficient. The waitress was very pleasant and prompt. Food: ugh. One note! Salt SAlt SALt SALT! Horribly over salted crawfish etouffee with fried crawfish sprinkled on top. The dish is called half n half. Never again. Driving through from Texas back home to Louisiana and was getting hungry, Saw some reviews and decided to give it a try. The system was down so It was cash only. Left and drove to an ATM and came back. We had the fried duck appetizer and boudin balls too, the boudin balls were great, the duck was good but not as good as the boudin balls. The dipping sauce was great and they gave us ranch also, we split the seafood platter and had unsweetened tea and coke. I'd love to stop there again. Great food, service and atmosphere. We ate there today. We've probably eaten there 4 or 5 times. The service is usually a little slow but the food quality is good. Today, however, was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my entire life!! My husband's food came out cold and the oysters were fried to death. About 15 minutes after his food arrived, I asked a waitress to check on my food. The waitress does not communicate with you during your lengthy wait and I ran out of water. They said they were out of lemons but my husband's plate had a lemon slice on it. ‍ My crab platter was seasoned differently than when I had the same thing 2 weeks ago. There was liquid seasoning puddled up on the platter. The shrimp tasted rancid so I didn't eat them. The mushrooms were so salty I couldn't eat them either. The credit card machine was down and rather than except a check the expected us to wait while they worked on it. Which we did. But after about 15 minutes I told the waitress we were leaving and would be happy to write a check but we were not waiting any longer. At that point the waitress ( thin girl with glasses who called everyone "Love") got defensive and said this wasn't her fault. I told her again we were leaving. She then went behind the bar complaining to another employee about me. I went to my car and got a check and came back in and laid it in the counter. Will never eat there again!! read more
