We made a reservation as we heard it can get pretty busy. They have a great happy hour meal and drinks. They make a salsa right in front of you to enjoy with chips. It was really good. We had the garlic shrimp, and two fillet mignons. They came with roasted veggies (amazing). Your steak will come with gravy on it if you're not aware so if you don't want any. I tasted it it's quite nice on the side. We sat on the patio which was lovely. There was live music the night we were there. It wasn't our style but others enjoyed it. Our server was amazing! Let me start by saying I wish I had found this place sooner! It had amazing food, I highly recommend getting the salsa and guacamole. They are fresh and delicious! Another thing to mention is that it had indoor seating with cool A/C. Everywhere else we had eaten during our trip had us outside melting away, so it was nice to be able to enjoy our meal without constantly needing ice and water. Lastly, the service was impeccable. They were the friendliest people and made us feel like family. By the end of it, we were all talking and taking shots to celebrate our trip to Mazatlan It was a perfect way to end our time here in beautiful Mazatlan. read more

A LIFESAVER for vegans in the golden zone. They make delicious fresh guacamole and salsa at your table with a mortar and pestle, and offer a vegan Molcajete and tortillas which is a hot pot of sauces and vegetables which you can make into tacos at your table. Few options but absolutely delicious, filling and worth an honorable mention in an area where vegan options are very hard to find. We went back a second time and were just as satisfied. This place was fantastic. It's a bit touristy, but still worth it! First, the decor is Mexican eclectic and very fun/interesting. Second, the show of making the salsa and guacamole in front of you is so fun, and both are delicious! Highly recommend. Lastly, the food is very tasty, with large patroons and reasonably priced. I'm vegetarian (in Mexico--Vegan in the US haha), and I got the Vegetarian Molcajete. It was very delicious. read more

This was our 2nd visit here and the food was absolutely amazing both times. They have plenty of great options for vegetarians, too. My favorite are definitely their garlic mushrooms and veggie fajitas. All staff members were very friendly and we even got to meet the owner, Jorge who was super nice and gave us multiple local recommendations. The atmosphere is great, too. Went here tonight with family and friends. When you arrive you have to walk up faux mountain steps to the second floor of the building to enter the restaurant. Upon entering I noticed a lot of decorations still up for Christmas along with the 6 foot tall Tequila bottle. Oh yeah, it's going to be a fun night I thought. 10 of us arrived for drinks and dinner. Our drink orders were promptly taken and I went for my favorite Margarita, the Tamarindo. Tamarind is fantastic here and usually you get candied pieces of Tamarind in your drink. However tonight, just a sugared Tamarind rim. The Margarita was decent but not the best I have had in Mazatlan. We had guacamole made table side and it was good. Any fresh Mexico avocados beat a Haas hands down any day. We also had fresh made cheese that was made this morning served with hot refritos and tortilla chips with fresh salsa. I really enjoyed that. The cheese was almost a curd consistency but smoother and would easily break if you tried to pick up a square. VERY tasty. For the main course I had the combination fajitas with Carne Asada, chicken and prawns. Arrived sizzling hot and the portion was so huge I took 1/2 for lunch tomorrow. Lots of fresh crisp shrimp, generous portions of chicken and beef filled the plate. Sautéed onions, mushrooms, peppers and melted cheese on top made this a great dish. The meat was cooked perfect Tender, not chewy, and very flavorful. Chicken was good as well. Served with salsa, guacamole and your choice of flour or corn tortillas, I would definitely get this again but come much hungrier. TIP: 2 People could easily share the combination fajitas and probably be fulll. Service was good and the atmosphere was festive. There are a lot of things (eye candy) hanging from the ceiling. Since Senor Frogs left, I would say that this place picked up the void left behind. It's a fun place. The staff is there to entertain. There's a stage with one hell of a singer also entertaining. Singing, balloon hats and animals, fun upbeat atmosphere. It's a great place if you brought the kids down for vacation. Or if a group of you crazy teenagers came down for a good time. The food? I wasn't totally impressed. I had one of the Molcajetes. It's was sure as shit hot and bubbling. 15 minutes after I got it, it was still bubbling. Definitely had better in my day though. Others at the table said the food was good but nothing spectacular. Drinks were hit and miss. The margarita we got was undrinkable. It was tequila mixed with ice and water and a lime on the rim. My family & I have been coming to Mazatlán for over 25+ years and ever since Los Zarapes opened its been a staple at least once if not several times over the course of our stay. My dad can't go without the combo molcajete and I can't agree more. I'm pretty sure it's the best in town. Mom loves the chilli relleno and we've yet to find one better. The table side guacamole & salsa are also on point. As is the service & ambiance. It is unparalleled to any other restaurant of its type in the city. On most night they have live authentic dancers/entertainment. We love going here because we always leave satisfied and thoroughly entertained. Went there with my family while on vacation in Mazatlan. It's upstairs and the layout makes you feel like you're in a Mexican Ranch house. It's huge and the service was great. Authentic Mexican food and a great and fun environment. We had a fabulous meal and the owner and his brother even joined us at our table for a great visit. The fresh salsa and guacamole they make at your table side can't be beat. Molcajete is one of their specialties. Live music can be enjoyed on Friday and Saturday nights and if you're in the mood to watch a Sports game or UFC fight, they're happy to oblige. We visited a total of 3 times in 1 week because it was so welcoming and comfortable for a mixture of just drinks, dinner and a sporting event. I just returned from a trip to Mazatlan with my family. We had dinner at Los Zarapes on our last night. It was near closing time and the owners kept the restaurant open for us. The restaurant décor is very festive, the staff was very attentive, and the food was fabulous. Our waiter prepared salsa and guacamole from scratch at our table. I have seen guacamole prepared at the table before, but not the salsa. They were both delicious. When the waiter served our 11-year-old twin girls their sodas, he somehow held the can in the palm of his hand without holding it with his fingers and it looked like the can was glued to his palm. Needless to say, the twins got a real kick out of that trick. After he was done pouring, he asked one of our girls to take the can and it came right off (no glue). Some of the dishes we had were queso fundido, one of the molcajete's and I had the rib-eye with roasted cebollitas and peppers. All of the food was fantastic and the steak was one of the best that I have had. I wish that we had found this restaurant sooner. We would have eaten there more than once. read more

Went to a fundraiser which was lots of fun. However given the number of wait staff the sweetie should have been exceptional instant it was mediocre at best. Took almost 2 hours to get food that was pure ordered.... Waiters were partying instead of serving.
