The course ranger drove us up to the 14th hole to let us play around groups, and even gave us hot dogs at the end of the round. The course is in good shape, has beautiful views, nice tee boxes, and plenty of peace and quiet. I prefer this course to all others in the area due to its simplicity, tranquility, and great service.

It felt like the staff had no sense of urgency, and simple requests took far longer than they should have. Instead of enjoying the evening, we spent most of it waiting and wondering if anyone actually knew what was going on. The biggest disappointment was the bar. I ordered a Last Word cocktail, which is a classic cocktail with a well-established recipe. It should have a bright green color from the combination of green Chartreuse, maraschino liqueur, gin, and fresh lime juice. Instead, what I was served was bright red. A Last Word is not supposed to be red. Even a quick search online will show that virtually every properly made Last Word is green because of the green Chartreuse. A red drink tells me the recipe was significantly altered or the wrong ingredients were used. If you're going to serve a classic cocktail, it should at least resemble the actual drink. The poor service combined with the incorrectly made cocktail made for a very disappointing experience. There are plenty of restaurants and bars that take pride in their hospitality and their bartending. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of them. I won't be returning, and I can't recommend it to anyone looking for good service or well-made cocktails.

There were some pretty unpleasant pin placements that left you with 8 or 9 feet back uphill if you weren't careful. (I had 40 putts) But that wasn't the reason I shot 101. Poor distance control with my irons and flat out bad bunker play is the reason I wasn't in double figures. The scenery at LCC is fantastic. Mountain views and trees in bloom amidst challenging golf holes. Quite a combination. The club house could use a face lift but it looks like they pay attention to the course and that is fine by me. My favorite hole is 11th hole. A 521 yard par 5 that dog legs left with water, trees and a sloped green. You guessed it, the only par I made all day. I took my drive 260 yards past the trees on the left and it rolled just off the left side of the fairway. I bullied a three metal through an oak tree and that left me with about 90 yards into the green. I hit a 56 degree wedge that left me 10 feet below the hole and of course I missed the putt that had very little in it. Par.

We often like to explore new courses, so my teenage son and I made our way over to Great Cove. If you want a fancy country club, this is not necessarily what you are looking for. But I love and support local golf courses, especially those that offer great customer service and sincerely appreciate and care about their guests. When we drove up, we were greeted by the President of the club board. She was friendly and personal and made us feel welcome. To add to our day, this was a fun course to play with a lot of variety. Some short, some long, a few good dog legs, and some water obstacles. Not bad for a decent price, including cart. The tee boxes were well-taken care of and the greens trimmed and allowed for some decent putting, though it is admittedly early in the year. Nonetheless, this place was warm, welcoming, fun, and affordable, making a perfect day for a father/son outing.

This is the review I left…read more I wanted to give this place zero stars, but I'm giving it one -- only because my husband and son said the course itself was very nice. I've taken time to pray and reflect before writing this. My husband and our 19-year-old son came up from Florida for a visit and were excited to play a round of golf together. They brought their clubs and booked an early morning tee time. When they arrived at the clubhouse, my husband politely said, "Good morning, we have a tee time." The man behind the counter -- and I hesitate to call him a gentleman -- responded with, "I doubt you do," in an unnecessarily rude tone. Despite the treatment, my husband, a kind and well-educated Puerto Rican man, smiled and gave his name. The man glanced at the list, confirmed the tee time without apology, and coldly told them where the carts were. My son was shocked. My husband, trying to keep the peace, told him, "Unfortunately, you'll come across people like this in the world. Don't let them steal your joy." He brushed it off -- I cannot. We're active golfers and often travel to courses for both leisure and business. Sadly, this is not a place we'll recommend. To the man who treated them that way: I'll pray for you. Judging someone by the color of their skin is wrong -- and it does not belong in any clubhouse, on any course, anywhere.

We understand that maintenance needs to be done however it is not ok to continually follow people up and down the course. They was no one to flag down for help or to bring this to anyone's attention so we "played" through to try and get ahead of the mowing staff only to be followed again and again. They would come right up to the green while we were putting! It was insane, completely unprofessional, and ruined the experience. Once we finally gave up and left the office staff was unhelpful and told us to tell it to the maintenance supervisor or go find a Marshall. No, thank you! Issues should be handled in house by knowledgeable and friendly staff, not disregarded.
