Being an avid tea drinker, I have been wanting to visit this place for a while. I finally did when…read moreI went to sell/barter a table with the store (not something they usually do rather a FB Marketplace transaction). I think this is a good place to have some relaxing downtime with a few friends or family members by booking one of their cute, decorated tea rooms. I can see this being very cute for little ones who want to have a tea party or something too. They mentioned that they also help host larger tea events. There were a few locals when I went in and everyone seemed to just be relaxing. The people running the store are the nicest people I've met in town and seem to be of excellent service. Lina & Ally's serves warm drinks and some snacks. I only had a hot chocolate with marshmallows. Considering it was from a Keurig, it was pretty good. I wish I could speak more about the products but perhaps I'll update this review later on that front. There are some interesting specialty drinks I'm looking forward to trying. I was a little confused when I stumbled in because it is hard to tell what's going on in the large space and there is a lot going on. It dawned on me that this is also a local gift shop. There is a small jewelry counter and tables set up selling gift baskets, specialty foods, cosmetics, home decor, and even some baby clothing. I looked at their Facebook page and saw they advertise specials on these items if you are in the market for stuff and want to shop local.

I bought myself a Route 66 beanie for $10 to add to my ever growing collection of hats. No restroom available unfortunately, but we did find one down the road. Would definitely recommend stopping by for a driving break and a cute gift, for yourself or someone else.

I was choosing a souvenir t shirt to buy. She stormed off, to the cash register, & I heard her grumbling about messing up the t-shirts, and saying "I have to fold every goddamn t-shirt!" She snarled at me, & said she tried to help me, but I wouldn't listen, & she didn't appreciate me "messing up" her t-shirts. I only looked at 2 of them, and she acted like I ransacked the whole table. I told her that I'm a customer, & she shouldn't talk this way to me, & that I'm not buying anything due to her bad attitude. So, it's definitely not a "welcome" center. These towns along Rt. 66, get visitors from all over the world, especially now, with the 100 year anniversary. The Rt. 66 Welcome center could improve by having someone who is pleasant, and helpful, to provide information about Tucumcari, so travelers can plan their time there. So, skip this place, if you're looking for souvenirs. Some of the restaurants (like Del's) and the vintage motels have gift items that they sell. Or, try the Curio shop across the street.
