The bar tender was great. Several in our party were undecided and he helped them through it. They even had a great IPA on tap. Try the Wisconsin old-fashioned just for fun. We went for the fish fry and there was a short wait so we sat outside on the deck with a great view of the lake and had our drinks. This is the best fish fry I have been to in quite some time. It was cod, and you could get it deep fried or seared and baked. The deep fried was so tender. It's all you can eat, but what they brought us to start was more than enough. Really great fish fry. I've been going to Lost Land Lake Lodge for a fish fry once or twice a year since I was a kid. I'm old enough to have adult kids of my own, and they're become fans, too. The fish (and fixin's) is great and the service is usually good, too. I'm pretty sure they offer the fish fry on Saturdays, too, although probably best to check. Worth trying, and perhaps like me, it'll be your go-to place for fish fry. read more

This is a good old fashioned supper club. Their fish fry is served fast and is tasty broiled or fried. Some of the seating faces the lake, which is a nice bonus. We always get good service and consistently good food. I've been going here since I was eight years old and I'm now a grandma. Still one of my favorite places to go out to eat. read more

We made the drive up here (staying on the Chip), because the fish fry was supposed to be amazing. Being from WI, I will say I have had far better fish fries and I was not that impressed. The portion was good, ample fish, coleslaw, fries, rolls, however the fish was like warm and fairly greasy. We both left and were like eh. Not bad, but not great. Just average. Had been in the car many hours on a hot summer day with our dog. We just wanted to either sit outside on the patio or take our food to go. We weren't about to leave the dog in a hot car. Hot dayum. This was one of the BEST fish fries our family has ever had. We called and put a reservation in earlier in the day on Saturday (and we're glad we did because the wait was significant when we arrived). We sat out on their deck overlooking the water until our table was ready. We had an awesome, and attentive server; she kept the kids and adults happy throughout the meal-not an easy feat! The fish is served beer-battered or broiled, with sides of oven fried potatoes and coleslaw. The food is all you can eat and was served family style. The batter on the deep fried fish was incredible, not too greasy and not too thick. The broiled fish was prepared perfectly and was so yummy. We all left full of fish, old fashioneds and Spotted Cow. The atmosphere is casual, but welcoming. We can't wait to return! read more

Went with the family on a Tuesday night at 6:30. There was not wait and we were seated promptly. The atmosphere was lodge like, similar to other places in the north woods. The view was awesome, especially since we are visiting from So Cal. We each chose a different item from the all you can eat dinner menu. Chicken wings, fish, frog legs and spags. We love coming to Wisconsin, especially on Friday's for a good fish fry and this was Excellent. We surely will return not only on Friday's but other days because the fish is offered every day. Absolutely the best fish fry in the Hayward area. And the chicken wings are enormous. I've only had the fish and the wings, so I cannot comment on the other menu items....but the fish fry is what I look forward to each summer. Update: we did receive a partial refund. My family stayed in the Grandview cabin at the lodge. It's an older building, but that's not a problem, many cabins in the area are similarly a bit older. The construction of the cabin itself is really nice, but the cleanliness of the cabin was severely lacking. The bath mats in the bathrooms were grimy, the duvets in one room were both either stained or unwashed, and the thin sheets on the old, uncomfortable beds showed the (urine?) stains on the otherwise uncovered mattresses. The air conditioning unit in the one bedroom was held to the window with cardboard and duct tape, and it began spitting cold water all over our belongings on the nightstand in the middle of the night. All of this was acceptable enough, we are well aware that cabins are often rustic, but the real kicker was the mice infestation in the cabin. My mother felt something crawl across her while falling asleep midway through the week (we had no pets with us), but she hoped she had imagined it. The next day we found a makeup bag and a pair of headphones had been chewed through, and that a creature had gone through our open bags. Later that day, we saw the mouse dart across the living room. We were given a mouse trap (unbaited) from the staff, who did not seemed surprised or concerned about the problem, but despite our best efforts to bait it, it caught nothing and the mouse continued to roam around the cabin, even pooping on our clothing and on the kitchen counter. This was highly unsanitary, and thankfully the poop happened on our last night, so we were able to at least partially enjoy the time we paid for. The pros of the resort are that it is on a very remote and quiet lake with lots of wildlife, and that there is a nice playset and beach for kids, but the good does not outweigh the bad enough for me to ever recommend this resort to others. read more

I have been going to this establishment since I was an infant (if not in the womb, basically!) and it is one of the highlights of the many trips I make to my cabin on Teal Lake every year. Located in the true back woods of Northern Wisconsin, Lost Land Lake Lodge is ideal for families, bar hoppers, and sportsmen alike, all wanting a good meal in a rustic lodge cabin setting to wash down with a beer or two! One of the fondest memories I have is the Fish Fry... All-You-Can-Eat of course! I never have been a fan of fish up til the past few years, but the fish fry is excellent for anyone searching for some beer battered, deep fried goodness (the restaurant is featured in a book named 'Fry Me to the Moon' for perfecting deep-frying)! It is served with some warm buns (think bagged grocery store ones), coleslaw, and thick cut potato wedge french fries. I always skip those sides, I've got bigger fish to fry (no pun intended)! From Memorial Day to Labor Day, they also offer appetizers such as onion rings and cheese curds, and lovely salads and soup for starters. They have a homemade house salad dressing that is UNBELIEVEABLE! It is similiar to a garlic, bacon dressing that is dripping over cauliflower and lettucd , yum! I have never had dessert there, I am always way too stuffed to even attempt, or have some awaiting me back at the cabin. Full bar is offered, and the bar service is pretty poor because of the high amount of locals the bartender (Jim I believe), gets distracted with. He makes strong drinks but the variety of choices are smaller (DON'T ask for a blended margartia in the northwoods). Their hours are exttremely limited in the winter, but when they are open and there is fresh powder on the ground, it is PACKED with sledders. Summer is also busy from everyone on vacation and the restaurant is also a resort. If you are in the area of Lost Land, Spider, or Teal Lake it is definately worth the experience, that is if your stomach can handle it! read more

This place use to be amazing especially the prime rib. I don't know what happened but the prime rib I just had was no where near the size, taste and quality it was. Stayed in Aspen Cabin for three days and three nights at Lost Land Lake Lodge. 3 Bedroom 2 Full Bath rented through Property Management of Hayward. It was perfect for a family of 5! The cabin was in great condition, plenty of hot water, bed linens and basic supplies provided. The location was outstanding. Steps from the water. There was a dock with a launch ramp, a small beach perfect for kids with play structure on the sand, and a raft to swim out to. Canoe and kayaks with paddles provided at no extra cost. Firepit outside the cabin with 4 chairs, charcoal grill and picnic table all right outside our front door. My brother and I just wanted to run the kids up north from Illinois for a weekend of Northwoods fun, and it was exactly what we were looking for! read more

This is a mixed review. My family and I decided to check this place out before we brought our extended family for our early Christmas party. Our order consisted of the kids chicken tenders, a fish fry, frog legs, and prime rib. Everything was good except the prime rib and the service. My husband ordered his prime rib medium rare and was given one cooked medium-well. When he told the server it was not what he ordered, she took it back. Moments later she returned with the cook who was holding a platter of prime rib with a thermometer sticking out of it and my husband's original prime rib. He informed my husband that 140° is rare, when my husband said he didn't believe that was correct the cook became defensive. He informed us he'd bee cooking for 16 years and wet to culinary school. Having worked in food service as a corporate trainer, I was shocked at the brazen way he spoke to my husband. It was interesting that our waitress went to the trouble of having the cook come out when she couldn't refilll our drinks. The server, waaiting on the table behind us, seemed very good and attentive to her guests. I guess with this place you're taking a gamble. read more
