Flight attendants helped me both in Keflavik and in Copenhagen to get a stroller and/or help carry my luggage since my own stroller wasn't allowed by the seats for security reasons in Europe; something I hadn't expected, since it's custom to take the stroller all the way to the airplane and put your child (and luggage) back in the stroller as soon as you exit the plane. Thank you so much Iceland Air!

I would recommend avoiding this airline for long-haul flights with layovers. I flew from San…read moreFrancisco to Berlin and then from Munich back to San Francisco. The layover in Copenhagen was extremely short and stressful. I don't understand why they sell tickets with such short connections when it's almost impossible to make them without having to run through the airport. They lost my luggage both times. I had a lecture in Berlin--the main purpose of my trip--and had to deliver it wearing sweaty loungewear. It was humiliating. Yesterday, I returned to San Francisco and learned that my bag was missing again. I paid $1,400 for this trip, and the whole experience has been ridiculous. In spite of all this I must admit that the planes were more or less comfy and the food was good.

Waiting wasn't the worst but I'm traveling with a toddler so it wasn't easy to wait while she was exhausted. The plane ride itself was fine and clean. My big issue is that we checked a stroller in Amsterdam at the gate where an attendant came by to collect it by hand. When we arrived in Copenhagen it hadn't shown up. We waited, looked around and waited some more. We went to the SAS customer service area and let them know to which we were shortly informed that it was lost and actually left behind entirely in a different country. The first gate agent didn't seem very sympathetic to the situation. She told me they had no strollers to lend but did fill out the form with me to maybe have it replaced while I'm here for a short time. She discussed this with a few other colleagues, went back and another representative from SAS came out with a janky, abandoned and quite flimsy stroller. This was such a blessing for us traveling with a three year old even to use this stroller.

We were served a breakfast that was surprisingly better than the scrambled eggs and sausage I'd had at the Rembrandt Hotel in London. They knew about and provided Alan's low sodium diet. My only complaint would be about the complete lack of coordination between British Airways and Virgin Atlantic at Heathrow. We had to gather our luggage, go through British Customs and from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3. Fortunately we had assistance w/ that, which made it manageable.

I was flying out of Copenhagen Airport, connecting through London Heathrow, with onward journey to Hong Kong. Knowing my flight would be delayed and that I would likely miss my connecting flight to Hong Kong, I tried to seek help from British Airways with getting onto an earlier flight. I went through customs early and went to the gate of a British Airways flight that was departing about an hour earlier than mine, but had been delayed and was in the process of boarding. I had asked the gate agent if she could see if there was any space on this flight since I had a connection in Hong Kong that I would miss if I were to take my original flight. The gate agent, who likely was frustrated, said exasperatingly that she could not help me since she needed to get everyone on board and get on going to London. I was a bit disappointed that she could not assist me since I knew I was going to miss my connecting flight (I later had to be rerouted through Düsseldorf, to depart the next day) and she was so unwilling to help. Typically in the USA, airline gate agents will assist customers by putting them on earlier flights if there is space knowing that a later flight may be delayed or cancelled. I guess it's not the same on British Airways in Europe. And at least in Copenhagen, the employees at British Airways seem to have a "it's not my problem, so deal with it yourself" attitude. From my most recent flying experiences and some of the turmoils of connecting through LHR I faced, I realized that the best option when having to fly on a long haul international flight is to avoid flying through LHR. LHR probably has some of the worst weather conditions of all airports in Europe, comparable to SFO in the states with its fog. British Airways, I don't think I will fly with you any time soon, and surely not through Copenhagen Airport. Poor service made my journey an displeasing one.
