I really enjoyed this little place! I'm very picky about hot and sour soup and I loved theirs so much I ordered some to go! The almond chicken was also so delish. Don't recommend the spicy edamame, but everything else was great. My boyfriend got the Seafood Delight and there were huge chunks of fish and lots of shrimp. There were a rotation of people that refilled our drinks and asked how we were doing the perfect amount. I expected to be served promptly dice there were only two other Tables being occupied. I was wrong. Several other Customers arrived and they were promptly served before I even got to place my order. In fact the ate and left before I got attended to. I ordered regardless, Gen Tso Ckn. It was so tough and dry I could hardly chew it. I mentioned this to the Waiter and he didn't seem to care. Ordered online. Given completely wrong order. Had to return which was very inconvenient. Got correct order. Egg drop soup and hot n sour were so thick they had cream gravy consistency. The egg in hot sour was rotten. Took photo. Just very disappointed since original owner sold. The drive thru person should be ashamed that they could not put an order together correctly when the order right there to read. Plus not taking the time to spot check to make sure its correct. Restaurants should have an inconvenience rebate for customers when they screw up orders this bad. read more

I order food this place often. Food is mediocre but only Chinese place near my residence. Today I ordered food and only got partial order. Took my bag back and They told me I was lying that all my food was put in 1 bag and they tie their bags a certain way, and the lady told me the bag was tied incorrectly. Insinuating I had taken out the main dish and lied about not getting my full order. Told them fine I'll keep what I ordered --- the crab Rangoon was undercooked and soo were my egg rolls. Totally will never go back to this place that makes the customers look like idiots and liars. I work in the customer service business and the customer is always right. If not. Then I will be sure to tell everyone not to eat here and will continue to write negative reviews bc it's the truth. read more

Visited during the week for lunch. The place was clean and pleasant. It took a while to get our order and deliver the drinks and food. Ordered the lunch special and it was enough to fill you up. The cabbage soup was delicious. I was disappointed that it is $1.00 extra if you want "hot and sour" instead. I was not impressed with the sweet and sour pork. The rice was terrible, it had a smokey taste that not even the "soy sauce" could take away. I will continue my search for a good Chinese restaurant. read more

Visiting from out of town, and inlaws wanted dinner from Lotus. It was expensive to feed the four of us, and the food was mediocre. Most everything was fairly bland, really nothing special at all. Panda Express is better than this place. read more

I love the orange chicken , extra spicy. The hot and sour soup is great. I have also had the shrimp fried rice and the combination fried rice. Tasty .. I prefer this location over other locations in Brownsville due to the wait staff ladies are extremely friendly and the service is wonderful. Since COVID-19, for the most part you've had to order through the drive-through they are prompt and your orders are served fresh. read more

Just out and about... new to town. Stopped in on a whim. Staff was pleasant and I was promptly greeted by my server. The food was fair. I ordered the lunch special sweet and sour shrimp. For the price ($7.95) there were a LOT of shrimp but no onions, pineapple or bell peppers. (That's how it's usually served, in my experience.) The fried rice was room temperature and didn't really impress me. I might come back but I'll try other Chinese restaurants first. read more

Faves: stir fried udon, jalapeno chicken, moo-shu pork (its like an asian taco!), and the sushi! This place has really tasty Chinese food! If you're looking for americanized Chinese food in the valley, then you should be eating here. The owner is really caring and loves to talk to her customers to make sure everyone is happy. You'll usually see her walking around to each table. This restaurant is a cafe, so the setting is more casual and smaller than Lotus Inn. They do lots of catering for larger orders, there is a pick-up only drive thru window (you order ahead, not at the window), to-go orders are pretty quick, the staff is pretty nice and efficient, and the food is always on point and hits the spot! read more

We hadn't eaten here in a while & this visit reminded us why... While nothing was terrible, it was all kind of... Blah. My husband got the orange chicken that had at least 10 peppers and 7 large pieces of orange rind, but the chicken itself had little flavor. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, which was just battered, deep-fried pieces of tough pork with a dish of sweet and sour sauce on the side. It was all kind of underwhelming. read more

I normally never write bad reviews; I always stick to positive review. But please read this before thinking of eating here. We decided to order food from this place. We ordered the crab cheese puffs as appetizers, Lo Mein and Chow Mein both with combination meats. My wife and I started with appetizer, the crab cheese puffs were only fried dough with a little strand of either crab or cheese (Panda Express has better ones). We decided to skip the puffs and we started eating our food a soon we I tasted the meat it was spoiled never had I ordered from a place that had spoiled meats. I don't know what type of business they are running there but like Gordon Ramsey says, " You can kill someone, You DONUTS!!!' Before writing this review, we called the restaurant to advise them that their meat was spoiled and whoever answered the phone was extremely rude, like if we were at fault for serving spoiled meat. I ordered several meals for my family. I also ordered several sushi rolls. After waiting a while for my meal, they called to let me know they only had enough sushi rice for one roll. I would have been ok, but it was only a few minutes before my order was ready. I canceled and went elsewhere. If management of a Chinese restaurant can't keep rice ready, how bad is everything else. Well gave it a try but just goes to show Mexicans can't cook Chinese food. The crab ragoons were chewy, the cashew chicken was edible but the flavor was off compared to any Chinese I've ever had, and the wonton soup!!! The staple of Chinese ! Tasted like BO and the filling was aweful... My dog didn't even eat it... The only thing decent was the egg roll but those are probably pre ordered. Good little place to eat. The decor and environment is nice. Food is well prepared with large portions. Service isnt the best but it sure isnt the worst. The best thing is that they have a drive threw window so you can just pick up an order and take it home. Definitely a place to check out if you like Americanized Chinese food. read more

Well I have been a customer of Lotus Cafe for about 10 years. It has always been a good place to eat, but lately I've ordered take out and have been disappointed both times. This time I ordered my food and was there to pick it up in 13 min, because they told me it would be ready in 15 min. When I got home I had to heat both my won-ton soup and my wife's ht and sour soup because they were at room temperature. My sweet and sour chicken was cold, and old. It was not made fresh to order as it should of been. My wife's Hunan Chicken was cold as well. The only positives about this meal was the fried rice and the egg roll. The prices have gone up and the portions have been reduced. Before you got a to go foam plate with plenty of food. Now they have changed the portion and are using a foam plate that is anout 30% smaller. Hell, I ate everything on my plate and I'm still hungry. I guess I'm going to have cereal for dessert. Thanks a lot Lotus, you won't get a single dollar for me anymore. read more
