As a review update I have to give this place 5 stars now!! Last time I came here the wait was long but it was definitely an off day. I'm so happy to come back and finally meet the super nice owner who warmly welcomed us and wanted to give us an amazing experience. The service was very fast and accommodating :) We ordered the beef nihari, butter chicken, chicken biryani, and naan. The complimentary chips and salsas/chutneys were given complimentary in the beginning and we loved how spicy some of them were. The owner gave us some extra dip as well! All the main dishes tasted authentic, as if they were made at home with love. I've been craving nihari for a long time and this one was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! It was creamy and hearty with the most tender pieces of boneless beef. The butter chicken was very flavorful and rich. The gravy was addicting to eat and that bowl was completely empty at the end of the night. The chicken biryani was great too! Each of the curries came with a bowl of white rice. I'll be coming back again and again and can't recommend this place enough for the best desi food in the valley! read more

Great spot for our birthday celebration! The samosas and pakora were a great start! Our table shared butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, green chicken curry, and lamb biryani. We ordered medium spice, which was lots of flavor and a little heat. The garlic naan is mandatory. The jasmine rice is perfectly flavored. The service was friendly and super attentive. We found this AMAZING restaurant from other Google reviews while on a visit to the Rio Grande Valley. We went hoping to find Butter Chicken that compared to some that we had eaten in Austin. How surprised & happy that CAFE NASHTA offered us what we were looking for & SO MUCH MORE!! As you can see by their menu this couple is catering to the culture along with introducing the culture to their Indian cuisine. YOU REALLY NEED TO VISIT THEM YOURSELF & you will be singing their praises with the rest of us!! We had their lunch special which is very reasonably priced along with the garlic Naan. The Pakora appetizer was so flavorful and crispy, accompanied by two delicious dipping sauces. I got to the try the Beef Biryani and Butter Chicken. Both entrees were incredible especially when paired with the soft warm naan. The owner and chef which are husband and wife are so friendly and welcoming. We were driving through the town and were looking for a halal place to eat. Our children are generally very picky with Asian food but they absolutely loved the butter chicken . We ordered extra rice that the owner did not charge us for ! Loved the ambiance and the cleanliness of the place . The guy who served us was super nice ! Before coming in to eat I had called the restaurant to inquire about something and the guy who answered called me back few minutes later after he had confirmed the answer with the owner ! So this is an experience. If you haven't the time or experiences are too costly this isn't your place, however if you're looking for that ethnic goodness that is so rare these days, then order either one of many goat/ lamb or vegetarian dishes prepared their way. Yes, spices they use,but Not powdered, 'MaMa only uses real spices. They carefully begin preparing after you order. I've ordered all 3 genres and each order is always enough to share. I don't know if he's the owner or manager but he made my first time there so amazing by being such a people person, he offered me a 2nd bowl to try the spicier version, and then gave me dessert! Amazing palak paneer, 10/10 would recommend to anyone. And they have a vegetarian menu which was great. The service was great too, the restaurant looked clean. They give you spicy salsa while you wait for your food, which was a nice touch. Very close to the outlet mall. read more

Lunch on Saturday with only one other table i. The place took 2 hours. The waiter was also the cook. Poor man was running around serving drinks, busing tables, taking orders etc. The owner came in and apologized for coming in late. The food was average. The chicken tikka masala had a pond of grease floating on it and the owner said that's how it's made. The mango lassi did not taste like mango and it was watery. The butter chicken was ok as was the chicken biryani. Naan was just ok too. If you have lots of time to spend on meh food this would be the place. Someone at another table ordered Mexican food and it looked good but did not try any Mexican food. Very disappointed after reading about it in the paper. read more
