I went to Bliss for about three years and switched from the salon I was visiting simply because I'd been visiting the stylist there for too long (yes, it's possible) and wanted a drastic change. I saw Diane's hair and commented on it before realizing that she was a hair stylist herself - it was incredibly funky and edgy and she totally pulled it off. I had never had short hair and Diane's haircut was quite short and unlike any style I had ever seen. When I visited her for the first time, we sat down and talked about what I was looking to do and my only criteria was that it had to be funky and drastically different than my current style so what I ended up with was a short fo-hawk with florescent yellow and blue highlights. On the surface it may sound extreme and not flattering at all but I absolutely adored it and judging by the number of compliments I received, I know others thought it looked great too. Since those crazy florescent days, I've mellowed out quite a bit and now have very long hair. Diane has always gone out of her way to make sure that whatever style I choose - crazy or not - I absolutely love it. Everyone working there gives fantastic customer service and the products they sell have always kept my hair feeling and looking healthy. Because I'm now much more thrifty on how much I spend on hair cuts, I visit salons much less often than I used to. Also, St. Albert is quite out of the way for me. However, if I ever want to go "out there" again with a look, Bliss will be the first place I go. To clarify: all the stylists do an excellent job of catering to whatever look you're going for. They do quite an extensive consultation with you before your appointment, especially if it's your first time visiting.

However, our communication didn't result in what I hoped for and I was quite sad. Now the "selling point" for me - a senior level stylist stepped in, listened to my concerns, gave some pointers to the first stylist, and totally turned the whole experience around. In essence I ended up with two complete haircuts without ever being made to feel like an idiot, and left quite happy. This is the first time in my entire (long) life that I've experienced a salon which truly seemed to CARE that I was totally satisfied before I left and I am very grateful for that.

She referred to the bang style I wanted as hooker bangs (unless I misheard), which was a little odd, but I chose to ignore it. She didn't use any product on my hair, at all. Not for the blow dry or before using the flat iron. Not cool. My bangs turned out pretty horribly, even after I showed her a picture of me with what I consider to be perfect bangs. I should have just told her to leave them when she referred to my bangs as the most complicated trim she's ever done. I didn't think a straight, blunt bang was that hard. The lengths are also a bit of a mess. There was one section that had a huge piecey chunk that wasn't blended at all. She did attempt to fix it when I pointed it out, buyout still looks chunky and uneven. I finally told her it was fine, paid, and left. I didn't think tines going to get better, and I didn't want to risk losing more hair. Why two stars and not one? She listened to me blab about nothing and actually talked back. She was friendly. This is not the worst cut I've had. Will I be back? No. Have I made and appointment somewhere else to get it fixed? Yes. Am I more upset than I should be? Probably. Alas, do not try a new salon on your anniversary. It's not worth the risk.

One hair dresser per customer and they see them through the whole process. It's an absolute madhouse in there. AND my hair looks HORRIBLE. Looks NOTHING like my reference photo. The colour is nice and thats IT. I have naturally curly hair and my reference photo was natural curl.. my hair is HARD AS A ROCK and STRAIGHT. I will never go back there. She basically gave her a mini deva cut, dry cutting each individual curl. I got my bangs trimmed and my Husband got a cut as well. We were all happy with our service, and she asked the right questions to get the best results. I booked a follow-up full colour and cut so that will be the true test. The salon is clean and bright, but has a welcoming unpretentious atmosphere that I appreciate. They serve coffee and tea, and had a ring pop for my little that she definitely appreciated. I had previously been told by other salons that it wasn't possible to go as light as I wanted, and always left with a weird orangey-brassy tone.
