Decent place overall. But based on the previous reviews, I had high expectations. But my experience getting a pedicure was a bit of a disappointment. The water was barely warm and the polish didn't cover the full nail (small gaps between the skin and the start of the polish). When I walked in the workers weren't welcoming at all they just stared at me which was a bit weird. I'm not from the area and that was the top nail shop to come up on yelp and I was expecting to at least get my nails done since they promote walk-ins on yelp and on their website. We Picked up a last minute pedicure here. The space is clean and inviting. But the pedicure was only so-so. They didn't even clean our toenails. Or scrub our legs like every other basic pedicure does. No massage. No cream on feet. I also asked for a manicure with no polish, and they didn't even soak my nails. I also had to ask the woman to clean the dirt from under my nails. Which is weird, it feels odd to have to ask people who are taking care of your nails to clean them. read more

So this happened a bit ago but I recently stumbled upon pics I had taken and I'm newly enraged. This was the literal worst manicure I've ever had in my life and I get ~10 a year. I went in for a gel manicure. The tech was rough with my cuticles, but not painful so I didn't complain. The next day EVERY single cuticle was peeling. By the end of the week, it was all the way up to my first knuckle on more than half of my fingers. I was out of state for a conference and every time I reached for something my cuticles bled. I emailed and Aey responded basically blaming it on my skin, lack of lotion, and even the weather...despite the fact that this had never happened to me before. Eventually she said it might be dull trimmers. She offered an appointment to get them fixed...two weeks later. Additionally, the gel was peeling about a week, week and a half in. For the price tag, there are larger, cleaner salons with more competent staff. TLDR: Staff isn't well trained/doesn't have the proper equipment. Salon is cramped. Management makes excuses. I enjoy the environment here. I wish they had more gel options. I loved my gel manicure, it lasted two weeks no problem, however I don't think a great job was done on my cuticles. My cuticles weren't quite uniform and peeling after a few days. The main reason I get my nails done is to have healthy looking cuticles--so I was a little disappointed! The female owner aey did my nails. My friend went with me and got hers done by the young girl, and she felt the same way about her cuticles. The staff are so friendly and easy to get along with. Probably the most unprofessional nail salon. The welcome staff was friendly but unfortunately the woman doing my nails was extremely rude. I've never felt more anxious and uncomfortable in a nail salon before. The woman never introduced herself she also spoke to me with a very rude tone. I came in to get my acrylics off and gel color. She had me soak my nails in acetone for 30 mins while she was nowhere to be found. I did not realize the soaking would take so long so when she returned I asked if she could just clean my nails and not paint them because I am short on time. I immediately was taken back by her reaction, she seamed furious and with an attitude said "well didn't you know how long this it's going to take?". She then preceded to file my nails and lotion them, all of which Took 5 mins. She charged me $30 in total for the removal and "cleaning". I called later to speak to the manager and they gave the phone to a different person. They told me it was $15 extra because it is considered a men's manicure, even though I was not told it would cost extra on top off getting the acrylics off (which by the way, part of the acrylic is still stuck to my nail and wasn't fully taken off). In addition to this, they said the manager would reach out to me, and she never did. Not only is the staff rude but their customer service is horrible. I have never complained about a service before but after this experience I felt the need to speak up. read more

I always get gel polish with Aleshka and every time I go I ALWAYS get comments on how perfect my nails look- polish is all the way to the edge, even and not too thick, never chips, and lasts forever! I've been going to Aey Nail Bar pretty much since it opened. Aey and her team are fantastic. No one has ever given me a better manicure and pedicure than Aey. She is so diligent and does such a good job! She also tries to get to know her customers well. I went in earlier this week and she remembered that I always like to do red polish on my toes! I hadn't gotten a pedicure with her for about a year (although I've been to the salon for other services and/or with other employees)! I really wanted to like this spot. Unfortunately, they damaged my nails worse than I've ever experienced to the point that they were so thin after 3 appointments that it was seriously painful and I had to take a break from any nail treatment for 2 months. The pedicure chairs are horrible, no massing option and they bring over a bucket of water for your feet (there is no sink for your feet). They will offer certain patrons tea and coffee and other nothing at all. read more

I'm working Pittsburgh for 6 weeks and was looking for a nail salon as good the high end spa I go to in New York -- I found what I was looking for at AEY Nail Bar. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was a walk in; AEY was completely booked, but I was told if I came back at 6:30 I could get a manicure from the owner. When I came back, the owner took me with a genuine smile and offered me a pedicure as well. She stayed, on a Saturday evening, well past closing time to complete my Signature mani/pedi. My nails look terrific. I love the varieties of colors they offer -- gel and regular polish -- and the service couldn't be better. I will be back before I leave town and would recommend AEY to anyone looking for a great, high quality nail salon. read more

The woman who seemed to be in charge today was bossy towards her coworkers, made the atmosphere uncomfortable, and did not have good customer service manners. It is understandable for salons to get behind every now and then, but that does not allow the provider to rush through appointments and make customers feel as if they are being an inconvenience. I paid $45 for a signature pedicure which includes a hand and food massage, and I did not receive either but still paid full price. I expect a relaxing, laid back environment when I go into a salon, and that was hard to have here with the woman ordering her co-workers around and blatantly rushing through my mother's appointment, who was with me. Visited the area and wanted to try this place after seeing the other reviews. Overall, I felt the customer service was subpar. I was directed to the board of nail colors, and no one offered to help me find a color. I had a new technician, Thomasyne. She asked her colleague if she was holding the foot nail filer the correct way while she was using it on me. Before the gel mani, I had to quickly use my phone, so she used hers. When I was finished, she was still on her phone as I was sitting there waiting for her. She then asked another colleague if the scrub needed to be done before or after the gel. Even I knew the answer to that! She's been at AEY for almost a week, and it would've looked more professional on her end if she prepped for what she needed to do ahead of time. The worst part is the job was not done well, and I unfortunately didn't have time for a redo. I hope the manager puts more time into training or shadowing her moving forward. Great service (everyone was really nice and welcoming), amazingly comfortable pedicure chairs, and wonderful attention to detail. And clean!! I'm really picky about my nails and was nervous about trying a new salon. I got a gel manicure and the signature pedicure and both turned out beautifully! Polish was smooth, evenly applied right down to the cuticles with no missed spots (like the edges of the finger nail - I HATE that!). The only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is the massage could have been done with more pressure - but I also could have spoken up about that - and there weren't any magazine to flip through. They are responsive and careful and Aey is great at helping pick colors.We were all happy with the results.
