The basketball court has separate hours and times where it is and isn't available to minors. They have a couple classes but these aren't published online. They also have community rooms where you could host something like a kid's birthday party or a baby shower. This couldn't be my primary gym for exercise, but it's a nice community option. Hours last time I asked: M-Thur 9-7:30pm, Fri 10-5:30pm, Sat 11-3:30pm, CLOSED Sunday.

Walking around in the rain and cold he felt hopeless..But a friend helped him get into Gateway and they helped him to feel normal to have the basic necessities..They had a counselor a job advisor.He was at Gateway from January until May 16 th NOW Because of Gateway he just moved into his own apartment!!! This man is a totally different person then the one that first walked through those doors!! I loved serving residents of the Gateway Center and working with their employees. Most of the staff was energetic, helpful and friendly, though there were minor and totally forgivable exceptions. Many services offered but you have to pay close attention to everybody and everything. It is a wonderful place to volunteer for an individual or group. Gateway Center is the "gateway" to a continuum of care that helps individuals move out of homelessness. Gateway Center works to end homelessness in Metro Atlanta through therapeutic program and community collaboration. Located at 275 Pryor Street in Atlanta, Georgia, the Gateway Center is a keystone project of the Regional Commission on Homelessness' effort to impact chronic homelessness. The Gateway Center is designed to serve as the "gateway" to the community continuum of care that helps individuals move out of homelessness. Gateway Center provides 352 beds for men who enter into programs geared to address the underlying reasons for their homelessness, such as unemployment, addictions, mental illness or domestic abuse. They strive to provide a supportive and IAMCHANGED setting where individuals can receive the tools they need to end their homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency. In their 10 years of operation they have served 35,100+ individuals. 500+ individuals served daily. 108,000+ Meals served. 10,000+ medical services provided. 48,000+ clothing closet visits. It helps people in the hardest times of there life on it's mission to end homelessness.

After closing in 2012 because of structural concerns, former Mayer Kasim Reed rebuilt a new $23.5…read moremillion, 64,000-square-foot Recreation and Aquatic Center in the Old 4th Ward towards the end of 2017. The new facility is sparkling and definitely worth visiting if you haven't seen it yet and becoming a member if you swim work out regularly. We paid about $250 for the family to join for the year and the bonus is that it gives the whole family access to all Atlanta public pools. The building is very open, bright (lots of natural light come in through the glass), and beautifully built. While ATL isn't the Northeast, winter is still somewhat more of a period of hibernation for a lot of people and the opening of this center provides a very nice public option for continuing to be active. It seems like they offer a wide variety of classes and activities for kids. While I can't speak to the basketball gym, workout facilities, and indoor running track on the second floor, the pool is great. It's helped our toddler develop an appreciation for the water and we haven't even tried their infant swim program yet. Some highlights of the pool are that the water is very warm, they have a beach front walk-in, a separate family changing room, a variety of aquatic toys for kids to enjoy, and a few fun sprinkler type poles in the pool. For parents looking to entertain their kids this could be a great drop-in option too at just $5 a visit I believe. My only complaints are 1) We've waited months to get our membership cards and the machine that prints them is always down or unavailable for some reason. This is obviously not such a big deal but 2) As this "undiscovered" gem is no longer so undiscovered, we've seen more and more swimmers come to the pool and it can be difficult to find a free lane to swim in now (especially around peak hours weeknights after work). This may just be what happens as you become a victim of your own success. The pool is huge but it's unfortunate that the way they built it the lanes cannot be expanded or added easily because the free swim section has a giant physical barrier from the lanes part.

My husband brought a bag of nice clothing items to Out of the Closet. The ass't manager said,…read more"Dump out the bag on the counter!" He did so. He asked for a receipt. "We don't have any." He wanted to know when they'd have them. "I don't know." He brought the bag of clothes back home. I called the woman. We talked for a long while. I learned that people had brought moldy clothing to the store and an employee got sick. OK. I get that. But why not explain the request to dump out the bag? As for the receipts, she said she'd call me when they arrived in the mail. But she didn't. The way I see it, donations are what FUEL any thrift store. I expect that the person accepting the donation will say thank you. So from now on, I will go to the small, donations-only Goodwill on Cheshire Bridge where RON ALWAYS thanks people for their donation.

Second Life was an essential to me: I found Cole Hahn and AVL leather flats (almost unworn), numerous silk blouses (Marchesa Voyage, Annie Griffin), two silk skirts (one bespoke, the other from Anthropologie), dresses, jackets, a string of cultured pearls, Chicos and Eileen Fisher trousers - oh, and my last trip there, I actually scanned the books, and the selection is equally good there. Prices are higher than your average thrift, but, as you can see, so is the merchandise. It's always fair, and they run sales on the regular. I've been inspired to start putting aside some of my almost unworn or lightly worn clothes so that I can contribute to this community treasure, and keep the cycle going. This shop reminds me of everything I love about Avondale Estates / Decatur / Scottsdale / Clarkston.
