I can't say enough amazing things about Ms. Louise! I was referred to her through my cousin, who was getting married in Europe back in December, and I was a bridesmaid. My wedding was last year. Louise came highly recommended and had great reviews. She started altering my dress about 8 months from my wedding. We had multiple fittings every 6-8 weeks. She did not listen to my desires about removing the train on my dress and instead talked me into a bustle (which had 3 of the 5 buttons snap off during my wedding) she also would constantly complain about the lace of my dress. The week of my wedding my dress was still unfinished. She had be come back multiple times in the week leading up. Every time I came in it felt like she had made no progress from the day before. When it was finally "finished" the the dress fit but the work felt and looked sloppy: The straps of my dress were not sewn in properly, my dress had RAW edges (no hemming was completed), 8 pins were left behind in various places in my dress, bustle buttons popped off, seams literally fell apart throughout the night. Overall very disappointed to have spent thousands on a dress and hundreds more for the alternations and for my dress to be literally falling apart on my wedding day. I loved it but it was too big and much too long with a hem that was effectively a train. Louise was wonderful! Louise responded very quickly when I reached out! I went for a consultation pretty quickly after contact. Her quote was very reasonable. It was very evident as I was in her work space seeing all the beautiful postcards of brides around her room knowing full well these were all the dresses she had worked on that I found my bridal seamstress. I got my dress from Anthropology for $200 bucks. The dress had some tears in the sleeves, one or two of the bonings were popping off, and the zipper was a bit wonky. It needed work and I had a vision that was hard for me to translate but with some photo references and some guidance from Louise we were able to translate it. She mention also working on my dress five times so I was happy she had a lot of experience with my dress. I'll have photos of the before and after. You can tell she is a busy body and knows her stuff! She was concerned about me losing weight by the second appointment as I didn't know that brides tend to experience this under stress. Despite not feeling as stressed as I know other brides experienced the weight loss still snuck up on me. I didn't think much of this and how it could affect the final fitting, but I learned it's best to pick it up as close to your day as possible to guarantee the fit. My dress needed to hug me tightly to stay up since I didn't have straps to hold my dress up. I really felt like I learned a lot from this experience! Anyway, my dress turned out so beautiful! I worked with Louise on my wedding dress. Right off the bat, she was not the most welcoming. I thought that I could deal with her general coldness because she was recommended by the place I bought my dress at, and had tons of 5 star reviews. The first issue was when I asked Louise to add a specific type of bustle that I wanted. I was going to pay for it, of course. She complained about how much work it was going to be and how much time it would take her to do it. She brought this up several times across our several fittings about how many brides are asking for this type of bustle and how much work it is for her to make. This was pretty off-putting. The second issue was that I was going to be picking up my dress about a month before my wedding because I was moving across the country. I knew the risks involved in this and that it meant my dress might not fit perfectly, but my weight does not really fluctuate much and I would try the dress in continuously leading up to the wedding, so I wasn't worried. Louise made many negative comments about this, but I told her that's my situation and there's nothing I can do, plans were already set. There were so many negative comments at one fitting that I left the appointment crying. So, I picked up my dress from her about a month before my wedding and tried it on a couple of days after I picked it up. The straps didn't fit! They were very loose and fell off my arm if I moved at all. The bust area was ill fitting in general. We had talked about this several times and I told her to tighten the straps and make the bust area fit better to my body. Of course there was nothing I could do now since I moved. I found a new seamstress in my new location who luckily can fix the dress with two weeks to go. They agreed with me that the straps were too loose and the bust area was just all wrong. It's disappointing that now I have spent more on alterations than I did on my actual dress. I really expected with the amount of money I spent and going for 6 fittings, the straps would fit, given it was an issue we discussed many times. She also did not fix a small stitch that was sticking out that I asked her to fix several times. I don't feel comfortable in my dress to dance and move, and I don't think that's acceptable.
