The kids were fantastic. Anyone with the brains to get in can and will fit in here. The faculty is great. The administration was such a problem that I can't give more than three stars. In fact, the administration is what I attribute my pure hatred for high school. Unfortunately there's a school board that oversees the principal. So even though there are huge problems with the current (not personal experience with this one, just from having spoken to several members of the faculty) and previous (good riddance!) principal, it's next to impossible to convince the board that there needs to be a change. If the principal is allowed to pick on teachers he or she doesn't like, it affects how the teachers treat each other and thus how the teachers treat the students. This is a very liberal school. I wish the dress code were less strict. The point of going to Franklin was supposed to be having the ability to be yourself, and to learn who you are. Why can't kids in high school shave a mo-hawk or dye their hair blue if they want to?

The teachers here will break them down, and not in a good way. My child as a first time preschool student was experiencing bullying from teachers starting on her first day, from no introduction, constant yelling and belittling. They do not get recesses, only sometimes a PE class. Neither the small kids nor the bigger kids can talk in class, at all. There is no social time excluding a small lunch. The teachers will smile in your face and act as if they're family, but once you leave their kids with them it's more of cult like culture behind closed doors. You are not allowed to enter the classrooms after the meet and greet. For small kids that cannot communicate well, it's even more difficult for them to tell you how their day was. They can't express just how terrible it is for their mental health and character to not be able to have a outlet all day. Even if you see the older kids in the morning, you can tell how meek and scared they seem. The teachers get a joy out of talking down to the kids starting from the first day. I'm so glad I pulled my child out before she could experience psychological issues at such a young age. My child was able to go on to a local preschool, and is thriving. The same assignments that were given there are given at this school. The programs they use, you can very well use at home, and your child will still thrive. The teachers are much nicer, my child is much happier. Think twice before sending your child here.

My daughter is THRIVING here and is so excited to come to school that she runs down the street, through the gates, down the hall, and immediately to her classroom. Joining this school was like joining a Hogwarts house - we didn't join a school, we joined a vibrant community. Many of my daughters classmates have had all their relatives go to school here, the ties run deep! They have so many ways to get involved, socialize, and fun events that it feels like I joined a club or sorority. I run into parents from my daughters class outside of school often and I no longer feel like a stranger to New Orleans, but a welcomed member of my new community. Being a part of this school has been my favorite thing about New Orleans so far. Also, I love the outfits, the logo, and the breathtakingly beautiful grounds. This has been the best move for my kids. The teachers care about the students and go above and beyond for them. My only issue with the school has been some and only some of the administration. I believe there is a lack of authority when needed sometimes. I seems as though if it is a student with parents who are donators or of some importance those kids are not disciplined in the same way as others. I have seen some kids get expelled or suspended and others just get a slap on the wrist for the same or even worse discrepancies. With an administration change this school could be amazing!
