Lou does good work, just make sure you get a price of how much the job will coast before hand. I usually ask first, but last time I forgot to ask how much my shoe repair would coast. I was so shocked when I picked up my shoes and Lou told me the price. I, of course paid, but I could have bought a much better, brand new pair of shoes for what he charged me. I had never ever been charged so much for a repair before, so, always ask before he does the job as to not get a huge bill after he gets done. read more

Over the years, I've had Lou repair and resole 4 pairs of dress shoes (multiple of them more than once after wearing them out again), a couple pairs of shoes belonging to a girlfriend of mine, a pair of outdoor/military boots that needed alteration, resoled a pair of outdoor boots that RedWing said couldn't be done at their factory(Lou did that pair twice since then, and beautifully), and ALL of them have been superb. From stretching two fine pairs of dress shoes that we passed on to my son, repairing and dying a beloved wallet/purse that was looking dismal, attaching Velcro fasteners to replace buckles that I can't manage on a new purse, punching extra holes in a small belt, attaching a hanger to my cherry pit hand warming pillow so that it hangs on my walker, repairing several pairs of various types of shoes, oh, and attaching a sole to my left slipper to deal with my 3/4 leg-length difference whenever I get new slippers. What a great job he did on my Coach purse. My zipper kept splitting in half. Lou replaced only the head of the zipper ( he could have replaced the zipper and charged more ) he really knows his stuff!!! I think he shined up my purse also along with gluing some frayed parts. I took a pair of heeled penny loafers in that fit me like a glove. The leather was in great condition but the soles were a mess. One of the heels had the whole bottom part missing showing the hollow plastic heel. I thought there was little chance they could be salvaged. Lou said he could fix them and replace the entire sole on both shoes for $38. I was reluctant to spend that much thinking the fix would not turn out very good. Lou also agreed to rush the repair since I had a need to wear the shoes. Well, I'm so glad I went ahead with it, because they turned out AWESOME!
